Rating: Summary: Could be better - A good effort that fell short Review: If you are a Star Wars fan this is a must have reference guide. However, the book is noy engaging. It could offer so much more. If you compare it to the Star Trek Encylcopedia you would see a difference in presentation. Star Wars should have an entry like "planets" then list every possible planet worth (and not worth) mentioning along with brief info in a chart form. The the same should have been done with ship names. There could have been more picture layouts for ships, showing the different types and scale, and types of uniforms, symbols, insignias, and weapons. I hope the CD version offers more.
Rating: Summary: Good for the hardcore Star Wars fan Review: First off this isnt a new edition of the Star Wars "Guide To" books. This is a very large scale, all-encompassing, up-to-date reference volume. If you already have the "Guide To" books, Id question wether its worth you rushing out to buy this book. Its the kind of book that is really handy if you are just getting into the "rest" of the Star Wars universe, outside of the movies, and are a bit confused with characters, places or events that have happened elsewhere and in other times in SW history. If you are a light-hearted SW movie fan and dont dabble in the SW books, comics and various other spin-offs, dont bother, get the "Guide To"s or the "Essential Guide To"s instead.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: The best starwars infomation book out there, I think the Author did a great job writeing this book. It has all you ever need to know about the starwars universe.
Rating: Summary: Kicks @$$ Review: This book is THE book on Star Wars. It tells almost everything you need to know about the Star Wars universe including all the aliens you see in the cantina and Jabbas palace(well almost all). The only thing that s***s about this book is that its kinda outdated. For example it did not have anything from the Han Solo trilogy,in which all three books were published way before this book was published surely the author could have included this. But the one that got me ticked off was they didnt include the seven dark Jedi's from Dark Forces 2 . I mean c'mon those guys were cool! But yet they were'nt included but yet the characters from the cartoons are. Other then that its the best Star Wars book written.
Rating: Summary: Marvelous, the universe is incomplete without it. Review: I commend Mr. Sansweet for tackling such a huge project. It is known by all that one book could never be the ultimate resource for the Star Wars Universe. Accept the book as it is, and you too will appereciate the work in it. Future authors will thank Stephen J Sansweet for he has unlocked the the door to this wonderful universe. I for one will love every minute of it.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: This is THE source for star wars. It has everything that has to do with star wars up to the most recent books(excluding I, Jedi). I ordered mine from this website and was very pleased with the service. It costs less than a bookstore and comes packaged very well. The only thing I noticed about the book was a few mistakes, such as showing Ephant Mon's picture next to Hermi Odle's entry.
Rating: Summary: The Amazing Task Has Been Achieved! Review: I bought this book the first day it hit the shelf. It is amazing! It gives the definition to every Star Wars term possible. It's huge too. It's like a reference book you'd use in a library for research. You can learn so much about all of the characters, starships, planets, weapons, technology, etc.. It covers all Star Wars mediums from the movies themselves to books to role-playing games to card games to cartoons to T.V. shows to the lesser known Ewok movies to comics to whatever else you can think of. It has everything! I'm not kidding. I commend Stephen J. Sansweet for his willingness to create this helpful Star Wars recource that must have been so diificult to make. I've waited forever for this book. It has a timeline of all of the major events in the Star Wars universe to top it off! Wonderful! It's got hundreds of color photos too! Exciting! Two big downsides, though. 1) I noticed a few errors in the book the first time I browsed through it. There are probably a good handful of mistakes in terms of accuracy of definitions in the book. For instance, in the front index where it gives the sources that the book got its information from, it says that "Wedge's Gamble" is volume 1 of the X-Wing series when it is really volume 2. But this is so minor. 2) The book will be outdated very, very soon. Actually, it already is because I noticed it does not have any reference to the recent book, "I, Jedi." And when the prequals come out, you can bet there will be a lot of material it will not have. Maybe there will be a second edition after the prequals. Yet all in all, the book is something no Star Wars fan should pass up. Nobody. Not even you! The Force is with us!
