Summary: Detailed and Behind-the-Scenes Information on Every Episode
Review: This is the comprehensive guide for the entire run of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," featuring cast and crew information, summaries and a detailed analysis of every episode. Also included each episode are a few pictures from the episode itself.

My favorite part is the behind-the-scenes information revealed by the cast and crew. You learn the intentions and thoughts of the actors and many of the people working on the show. This enhances the enjoyment of the show as you understand what they liked, what they thought they could have improved and what points they were trying to make with certain things.

Also of great interest is the additional information spread throughout, analyzing particular aspects from the show or the season as a whole. Even if you don't consider yourself a "trekkie" and maybe more of a casual viewer, you'll definitely find something to interest you in this guide to the show.

Summary: The 'bible' for DS9 fans
Review: What can I add to the excellent reviews already submitted for this book - it is simply amazing. One aspect that I'd like to touch upon is that my local station shows DS9 very late at night, and on occasion snips some scenes here and there to get in a few more commercials. Thanks to the comprehensive coverage that each and every episode receives in this companion, I never miss a beat.

When I went to purchase this item at a major chain book store, the clerk implied they did not stock it because it was a slow seller. Thus, I had to special order it after being told they had "plenty in the warehouse".

What a shame that the DS9 TV show and this companion book don't (generally) receive the accolades that they so richly deserve. Both simply represent the best-of-the-best in their respective fields.

This book blows all other similar companions, regardless of genre, right out of the water. Detailed, insightful, and truly delightful, it has enhanced my enjoyment of what I consider to be one of the best shows ever produced for television. The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion is an essential buy.

Summary: The best of the best!
Review: What can one say, when you're an avid fan of Star Trek and in this case Deep Space Nine. Of all the companions for the shows this is clearly the best of them! A minor exception with reference to black & white photo's instead of color. It has been known from the beginning of DS9 that it was more or less the red headed stepchild of the franchise. I and a great many other DS9 fans take exception to that. Within the content of this companion you will find in rich detail the tapestry that made DS9 what it was, as good as or better than TNG in some ways, and although Voyager was good, it's a long number three to DS9 and TNG. From complete conversations with the cast and crew to detailed synopses of each episode, one will not want for information on the television episodes. If you're a true trek fan this is a must for your library.

Summary: The Prophets command you to read this!
Review: You can't get more complete than covering EVERY SINGLE episode of a series' 7 year run. This companion does that and manages to keep things entertaining. The book is broken down by season and each section starts off with a review of the season and gives insight on why things progressed as they did. I missed some of the later episodes of the series and would get the many character relationships and goings on confused. This companion has made it all crystal clear by including a synopsis of each episode followed by a lenghty discussion of how it was made. Terry J. Erdmann was given uprecedented access to cast and crew to give readers inside info on the creation of sets, props, makeup, casting choices, stroy ideas and more. The information is comprehensive and eye opening with plenty of human interest to keep it entertaining. Scatterd through out are pictures, drawings, and asides that complement the main text.

Yes it would be nice to have color pictures and a hard cover, but I don't think many people would be willing to/able to pay up for that and no fan should miss this comprehensive book. This is by far the most comprehensive, informative and entertaining TV companion I've ever seen. Whenever Deep Space Nine makes it to DVD this will be the perfect thing to keep next your armchair. Believe me, there is so much information you'll be refrencing this companion for a long, long time!
