Rating: Summary: Everything you want to know about DS9 Review: As an avid DS9 fan, I find this book interesting and informative. It is a book I refer to over and over again and is a "must have" for any fan of DS9 - or Star Trek, for that matter! The book is broken down into seasons (one for each of the 7 years the show was on the air) with a cast snapshot and written season overview at the beginning of each section. Next, all the episodes of that season are addressed individually - first through a detailed analysis of the storyline(s), then a section discussing how the episode was produced. So you get a synopsis of the storyline of each episode PLUS behind-the-scenes commentary from the producers, directors, art department, and actors!!! Additionally, there are many pictures from the episodes, and those are nice. I would have liked to have seen more cast "out of makeup" pictures....but overall, this is an excellent book and a "must have" for any Trek fan!

Rating: Summary: Wonderful companion Review: At the risk of sounding overly glowing, sitting down with this paper companion is like meeting an old friend for dinner once again. As a huge DS9 fan, I was sad to see the series end, but this book certainly helps to fill that void. While many television retrospective books can fall into the trap of presenting insufficient or irrelevant information, the DS9 Companion has a wealth of both factual and entertaining material about this fantastic series.

Rating: Summary: Great guide to the best Trek series... Review: Deep Space Nine -- ah, the redheaded stepchild of the Trek franchise. Not as clean and sachrrine as the others. It is the most refreshingly human. This book covers every episode of DS9 and along with synopses of episodes are detailed comments from the cast and crew. It's very interesting to see how some episodes started in very different places. And O'Brien story turned into a Kira story. A Jake Sisko "Watergating Shakaar" story became a devil's deal between Ben Sisko and Garak. And it's fun to see writers apologizing for the less than successful episodes. Even though this is an "official" book, it is more complex, honest and insightful than other such books. Perfectly in keeping with the series that inspired it.
Rating: Summary: The Bible for Niners Review: Good luck finding this now, seeing as it's out of print...but look hard enough and you can still get one. Episode guides, interviews, set pics, and most importantly: INSIGHTS INTO EVERY EPISODE, AND EVERY ASPECT OF DS9 This is our bible. Niner's aren't linear; we're everywhere!
Rating: Summary: Not Often you find Nicole deBoer in DS9 Book Review: I am a HUGE fan of Nicole deBoer and its not oten you see Nicole deBoer in the DS9 books!! But I loved behind the scenes, the actors/directors and production casts how the episode was created!! The artwork is highly interesting!!!! I loved how Season Seven was put together w/the concepts and we get to see the final day the set finally closed. :( BUT Its a MUST HAVE for anyone like me interested in productions and a STAR TREK: DS9 FAN!!!!!Highly RECOMMENDED!!!!!! :)
Rating: Summary: Very informative, useful, and full of trivia! Review: I got this book about 8 months ago so that I could finally know what is going on in the Deep Space Nine universe, as I had been unable to watch the episodes for lack of television service. It's so huge, I haven't been able to sit down and read it all yet! It's a wonderful reference book, with everything laid out very nicely. The photos are scattered liberally throughout, and each episode has a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to make, some information about special-effects, music, actors' comments, and a plethora of fantastic information. And now that I'm finally working toward establishing a digital Deep Space Nine collection (thanks to the wonders of the internet and the excellent people on alt.binaries.startrek), this book is absolutely essential to the categorization of the episodes. A must-have for collectors, enthusiasts, fans, and people who weren't able to see many of the shows and need the next-best thing.
Rating: Summary: Glad I bought This Companion First Review: I had been sticking mostly to TNG paperbacks, but have always loved DS9. So when they started the relaunch books, and they were such great reading, well I found the DS9 Companion hard to resist. I bought it full price without looking at any reviews, and I was not disappointed(whew). The book is highly entertaining, and so informative that I savored each episode synopsis. Clearly, the authors loved the series as much as the fans. The behind the scenes info is so interesting you'll find yourself reading them before each episode is aired so you can really feel a part of the show and cast, knowing their thoughts during filming. Just as I felt on the airing of the final episode,I wanted to cry at the last synopsis because the authors invited you into the sadness of ending 7 years of emotional investment and satisfying work with people(cast, crew, writers) who liked and respected each other. What a treat to find such an engaging book!! Too bad these fine writers can't do justice to the other Companion books. I'm so glad my local network has been running the show at a decent time. WELL DONE GUYS.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Reading Review: I have always considered DS9 the best Star Trek series overall. I loved the characters, not only because they kept me entertained when I watched the show, it was because they had flaws. The strength of the characters kept me glued to my TV. Now, thanks to the DS9 companion I am able to read up on each episode and see what the director had planned for that episode and whether or not I think he succeeded. I also enjoyed the write up on each character. My only complain would be that the book is printed on fairly thin paper. Other then that, this book is pure GOLD!!!
