Rating: Summary: A great read! Review: For years Magic fans have been left in the dark concerning this era. Jeff Grubb takes you through this time with great description of the characters, setting and a bit of the history. I found the book confusing at times but overall the best Magic book yet!
Rating: Summary: Brothers' War for Everyone Review: I play Magic But havent benn playing very long and I liked it alot. I couldn't put it down! If you arent a Magic player and you think youed be confused reading this you won't although it is a plus for you to be a magic player to make this book better. It is a amazing story and I recomend it for everyone.
Rating: Summary: This book is great! Review: This is a great book with a deep and very intersting story. It is a must for any fan of Magic: The Gathering.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book for Magic Players Review: This book is really kewl! Some parts were a little dull but the high points made everything worth it! after reading this book whenever i play magic and find a card from the book my brain goes like WOW! it helps explain a lot of the cards and tells about them. a must have for any Magic player.
Rating: Summary: a book not easy to put down Review: This book was very good. i have been playing magic for a while and it answered a bunch of questions...that i didn't know needed to be asked. for example I found out where artifacts came from, and how mana is used for magical purposes. There are parts where it is slightly boring but over all it is a great book
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. Being a die-hard Magic player, this was extremely enjoyable and fun to read. The setting was very detailed, and you really get connected to the characters. Suddenly, cards like "Feldon's Cane" and others which appeared in various sets of cards all fit into place. This book is very long, though, and if you aren't a fast reader, you may have to spend several hours to fully enjoy it. But that's a small price to pay.
Rating: Summary: Definitely a must-read for any patient reader Review: The Brother's War is definitely a must-read for any patient reader. A player of the popular card game of which this book is based off of, I already knew of some of the things that had to do with the book, but Jeff Grubb elaborately details the situations and people involved that even someone who has never heard of the game can get a good visual picture of the book. The first book of the artifacts cycle left me with a great impression on the upcoming books in the new series, and left me wanting to read more. I have already purchased "Planeswalker" and "Rath and Storm". The battle between Urza and Mishra is of gigantic proportions, and this is where Grubb really delivers. He also adds the supporting cast with great detail and gives you a sense of emotion during conflicts with these characters. The only faltering of this book, I feel, is the very end, as Grubb somewhat trails off at the end tries to lengthen the time before the final fight. Thoughts like "just get on with it already!" fill your mind. The fact he needed not to do this to lengthen an already long story puzzles me. Anyways, I still recommend this book who wants to read an intriguing tale of betrayal and the life of a legend.
Rating: Summary: this book rules!! Review: i've played magic for about 4 years and the war between urza and mishra always intriqued me. i love the way this book is written and the story. it rules!! the best book i've ever read and i've read the classics. nothing has ever kept my attention like this book!!
Rating: Summary: best description of Urza and Mishra since Fifth Edition Review: Being an avid Magic the Gathering player, I was naturally excited when I heard that the Brother's War would finally be explained. I recommend this book for anyone who is beginning to play Magic, or for a person who's been playing since Alpha.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic book that reads like an incredible duel Review: As I read this book, I was struck by the overall view of a magic duel. Time and again, the armies shaped up, only to be knocked down again. This was a fantastic book that not only explained the origins of the brothers and their artifacts, but filled in many missing links in the history of the game. If you play, and have any appreciation of the game, you have GOT to read this novel.
