Rating: Summary: Interesting, but we've seen much of this material before Review: This book is well-researched and well-written; the author interviewed most of the people who were important to the production of Peter Jackson's film of "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring." However, I suspect that much of the information in the book will already be familiar to regular readers of the websites devoted to the production of Jackson's LOTR trilogy. For those who are first being introduced to J.R.R. Tolkien's world by the release of "Fellowship" in movie theaters, however, this book will provide a fascinating, detailed look at how Jackson and company brought Tolkien's book to life on the screen. The photographs in the book are also very nice; I'm especially fond of those of Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, which show that the movie's hairstylists have superbly captured Tolkien's textual descriptions of Galadriel's lustrous, golden hair. I also love the title-page photo, a two-page, moody closeup of a thoughtful Peter Jackson. One slight annoyance is the book's title, since it covers the production of the first film, "The Fellowship of the Ring," not the entire trilogy, "The Lord of the Rings"; apparently, similar books will be published for each of the two subsequent films.

Rating: Summary: Gives lots of details on the making of the FOTR film. Review: This book was informative and all but i don't really think it is worth the money. Well it really depends, if your a lord of the rings fanatic, then it's for you. Mostly gives the introduction of actors and how the movie was set up. Costume design and so on. They give detailed explanation on how they made the movie, how they got Hobbits look 1/2 size of humans. How they made the movie sites, used the elvish language, and so on... Also, the actors get to speak. They talk about how they came upon making of this movie, what they've learned, the fun they had, and basically they just share something. This book is in a way interesting, and when your watching the film, you can try to pick out all the fake stuff knowing what the book said. it's interesting to read, but after you've read everything... there's nothing left to do but put it in your self and never look at it again. It is worth reading the first time around but i don't think it would be something you would want to come back too again in the future. maybe when you've forgotten everything, but then... who knows?
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This gives you beautiful pictures of the movie and tells you a bit about the actors who played the characters in the movie. It is a great edition to any fans collection!

Rating: Summary: Super Review: This is an eerie thing! :-) I have loved these books all my life, and have always wanted to see a good movie made from them. And now, it has been done. And the more I see about this movie, the more I want to see! This "official guide" carries the details to a higher level, encapsulating a lot of stuff that has been spread out over various web-sites. The pictures are wonderful, and the suspicion grows that these films may actually change film history forever. I will also add that, for those who delight in destroying things of beauty, these films will poise a valuable and long-lasting counterweight. MOST people enjoy creating things of beauty, and hundreds or thousands of people slaved for years to create these films. I wonder if some countries will decide that these films must be censored. :-0
Rating: Summary: This is a must-have!! Review: This is my second-favorite book, next to LoTR. I love the pictutes, the articals, and ALL the other stuff in this. I especially loved the Elves, and Orlando Bloom. If you are awaiting the next movie, get this to keep yourself occupied. cheers!! : )
