Rating: Summary: Excellent For Fans and Collectors Review: I just got mine in the mail today and am very pleased that it arrived in one piece across the seas. Basically a very very nice books with excellent photographs and inside information on behind-the-scenes stuff and the main cast's views on their roles. I'd definitely recommend it to those who enjoy the film and book, and were intrigued by the massive endeavour to transcribe book to film
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: I like this book because the pictures are great and just looking at them makes me want to read the books again. Getting this book makes you want to get the visual companions and the movie guides for each seperate movie. :)
Rating: Summary: The Best Movie Guide for the best Movie Review: I love the LOTR. I have seen the movie three times and I am reading the Fellowship of the Ring a second time. The movie guide is a must have for a true LOTR fan. It talks all about the characters and has beautiful pictures of scenes in the movie and the making of the movie. It also contains a scetch that compares the heigths of all the creatures in the book including: trolls, hobbits, humans, orcs, elfs, dwarfs, uruk hai, and ringwraiths. It also has big individual picture of all the characters including Aragorn who is the coolest. There is much much more in this wonderful book for you to find. This book would be the perfect gift for any LOTR fan.
Rating: Summary: Totally Interesting...and Helpful! Review: I purchased this without any regret what so ever. It's fully imersive and easy to understand. Helpful insight on the making and actors of this exciting film.
Rating: Summary: Really good, but I wish it had more pics. Review: I really like this book, I just wish it contained more pictures. And maybe more about the filming and process of movie. It had several pages about the director and his filmography, which could have been used to tell more about the actual movie it was about. I've read the books and seen the movie several times. And as a fan of both I wanted to see more pictures of them filming, and more in detail with the actors. I would have especially liked to have more interviews and quotes from the actors. I hope this review was helpful, and with or without what it lacked I would still highly recommend it to anyone interested in the movie or books.
Rating: Summary: IF YOU WANT HIM-COME AND CLAIM HIM! Review: I thought that this book was very intersting! I still haven't seen the movie-but I will go to it one of these days!I ordered 4 goblets(two sets of goblets actually-one set for me one set for my sister.) I found the parts about the actors very interseting-as with how they built the sets and the fake feet and masks-the drawings and computered stuff. I have some lord of the rings merchandise: Frodo light up goblet from burger king. (they ran out of goblets-thats why we bought them from ebay.) popcorn bag from the theatre two cups from the theatre and this book. But my goblets will add more spice to my room of course! So I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how movies are made!
Rating: Summary: This is great for the movie lover Review: i thought this was great! i really liked the movie, and it talks about how the setting and prosthetic costumes were made and alot on the actors. each actor has their own full page picture of them and has a page biography included. i thought this is a really good movie guide.
Rating: Summary: Lacking! Review: I was quite disappointed with this book in that perhaps I expected too much from it. It just basically tells you how the filmmakers managed to finally bring the classic trilogy to the screen, whereas I had hoped to find an in depth 'art of the movie' book with character sketches and conceptual artworks (which they did put in albeit in a minimum amount). I like the movie but this book is just more like a representational coverage on the people behind the scenes than a moviemaking book. I do hope one which suits my taste will come out soon.
Rating: Summary: Great book, but has spoilers! Review: If you can't wait one more minute for the movie, I recommend having this book FedExed to help you get through the remaining days. It's got solid content (which includes some film spoilers, so be warned) and images you won't have seen in magazine articles or other publicity. It's very much from the actors' perspective. I particularly enjoyed the revelation of in-character asides between Viggo and Orlando, tucked into the text: when Viggo casts aspersions on the overly-excellent grooming of the Elves, Orlando's comeback is, "Oh yeah? Well, I'm going to live forever. Got that? Live Forever!" The sole disadvantage is that after reading it, I can't wait one more second for the movie.
Rating: Summary: Ring Guide Review Review: My family has been immersed in Ring lore for years. My mother & older brother read the Lord of the Rings books as they were being published back in the 50's. The movie, however, is obviously new. My husband gave me the guide for Christmas, and I have found it to be a wonderful addition to the material I have on the subject. It gave the movie another dimension and my appreciation of the movie was even greater than it would have been, knowing to what extent Peter Jackson had gone in order to make the movie and remain true to the spirit of the Ring. After I saw the movie (twice, so far) I found myself going back to it again and again to review an actor, a set, a costume, an artist. It supplies the details - fills in the cracks, so to speak - of ever-expanding layers revealed with each viewing. For example, on the second viewing, I found myself intrigued with the character of Legolas. His expressions, thoughts, background, movements, mannerisms; this led me to want to re-read the guide which has a page devoted to Orlando Bloom. The guide is not solid text nor does it profess to be an in-depth, blow-by-blow account of the Ring story beginning with Tolkien at age 0 and culminating in the movie. There are many (and I feel, wonderful) pictures. Although every aspect of the movie is covered, it is covered briefly, succinctly. The text is descriptive and readable. Most Ring fans will find it a valuable, and reasonable, addition to their libraries and collections.
