It didn't really close well. I was hoping for more. Also I agree with others, in the fact that it never really looked like Drizzt and his friends were in any real danger.. The fight at the end was OK. But nowhere near the excitement that occured in the other books. Drizzt is my favorite character by far, and I hope Salvatore continues his adventures..

Review: After reading this book over a year ago (finishing it in one day, then flipping right back to read it all over again), I stumbled upon this review site. I, as always with R.A. Salvatore's books, was not surprised by the greatness of it. I simply loved it. I have looked through the reviews of the book on this site and a common theme prevails -- "predictable". As a fan of R.A. Salvatore's work, I am not angered nor am I disappointed with the general theme of the reviews. Everyone's interpretation of a novel is a very private thing and the author's feelings, no matter how talented he is, cannot be pulled out of the reader by his work. That is why I can say that personnaly the only thing that was predictable in the story to me, was the fantastic writing. It never once fell below the standards that R.A. Salvatore set for himself and every staff writer that TSR has had since. Salvatore has played a very major role in the giving of life to the Forgotten Realms and to the huge success of TSR in its glory years. That is why it bothers me at the hand R.A. Salvatore was delt by TSR on this book. You might ask yourself; "what is he rambling on about", well, ask yourself this -- just how predictable would this book be if TSR didn't comission an artist to paint an obvious picture of Wulfgar on its cover. Thank you very much for your time. A little piece of news for all of you Salvatore and Drizzt Do'Urden fans -- there will be another novel about the heroes of Icewind Dale. That was confirmed to me by the author himself.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Possibly Salvatore's best Drizzt Novel Review: Unlike the rest of the reviews I believed that Passage To Dawn was one of the best Drizzt novels written by Salvatore. With exciting battles and a fantastic plot, there are few things that are lacking in this book. I also believe that the ending to this book was NOT AT ALL PREDICTABLE. IT ONLY BECOMES PREDICTABLE IF YOU READ THE OLD WITCHES' RIDDLE MORE THAN ONCE. SO READ THE RIDDLE ONCE AND ONLY ONCE AND THERE WILL BE NO LACK OF SUSPENSE AT THE END. The ending to this book is, in my opinion, one of the best endings to any of his books. Passage to Dawn is not predictable or lacking of suspense at all. I couldn't put the book down. Passage To Dawn Is a must-read for all of us Drizzt fans.

Salvatore has completed his Drizzt Do'Urden series with an appropriate ending for the lone dark elf on the surface world. An ending that brought old friends together once again... and an ending that left Drizzt without his love. I recommend this book (read the rest of the series first) over any other. Great story... great characters... great writing.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Okay, not his best. Review: I got the book because it's about Drizzt, who is my favorite character, but the story was rather bad. It was not up to Salvatore's normal standards. It was much too predictable, particulary at the en
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Please, Continue to write about Drizzt Review: This is a fitting continuation to Salvatore's Dark Elf Series. It is a bit predictable in that Drizzt meets Cadderly from Salvatore's Cleric Quintet. The book is supposed to be an ending to Salvatore's Dark Elf series, although the ending of this novel gives clues that it can and will continue. I admire R.A. Salvatore and his writing, he must continue writting about Drizzt Do' Urde
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Hugely Disappointing Review: Having read, several times each, the preceding novels about my favorite character, Drizzt - and, indeed, virtually every other word Mr. Salvatore has committed to paper - the best I can say about "Passage To Dawn" is that it is about Drizzt. The plot is dreadful, with seemingly important events being brought up and then completely forgotten (e.g. why is Bruenor's returned eyesight never commented upon after the initial mention), with characters being dragged in from practically every other Forgotten Realms R.A. Salvatore book with little purpose, and with battle scenes that are stilted at best. I spent several worrisome nights wondering if Mr. Salvatore had died and if this book had been finished by a hack, so unlooked-for were some of the scenes. I can only hope that future works reflect more of Mr. Salvatore's previously humbling style and conception
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: An interesting ending point of Salvatores two beloved chars Review: I, unlike some of my peers, find it quite easy to criticize this book. Although throughout the beginning it met Salvatores usual standards, the end lacked a lot...like substance. I'm sorry, it just felt like "Drizzt is in trouble...but, by god, he defeats everyone and everything is saved from this power that was going to destroy all of Faerun." I believe this could be discredited to a deadline TSR put on Passage to Dawn.... If anyone else has been following Salvatores progress, it doesn't appear that any publisher can hols on to his talent for more than one series of books..latelty he's written for TSR, Warren, Ace, and others. Good book, bad ending
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Drizzt and his friends are still Salvatore's best creations. Review: Passage to Dawn continues the The Adventures of Drizzt, Catti-brie, and their friends to the next level. Of all of Salvatore's novels, only the ones featuring Drizzt and his friends show any signs of greatness, and Passage to Dawn proves this. We can only hope that Passage to Dawn is NOT the last Drizzt novel that R.A, Salvatore does. My only criticisms are that it was a bit predictable at times and that the opponents didn't seem worthy nor capable of ever winning. Of course they didn't, this is the last Drizzt novel.
(I hope I am wrong!) Homeland still remain's the best of Salvatore's work, and I recommend it to anyone that hasn't read a Salvatore novel before
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Predictable Review: I have read every novel in this long series (Most of them twice) and was hoping for more. The plot didn't show any originality and I thought the whole book was living off of its past reputation. Even the surprise reunion at the end seemed like a poorly developed afterthought. Part of the problem is that the main characters have become so powerful, that it's tough to come up with something believable to challenge them. Although this was to be the last in the series, I expect at least 4 more.
1. Six years on the Sea Sprite
2. Zaknafein reunion
3. Journey to the Soaring Spirit
4. The Actual final book
