Rating: Summary: Weis is better off with Hickman Review: One reason I bought this book is because it has Raistlin in it. I must admit that the hardship the brothers experienced in the army is good and detailed. But don't you think that too much time was spend on talking about the half kender and his trading skills that no one really cares about. Another loophole on this book is that there is no climax sence in it. The final battle between Raistlin and the Dragon was pretty short and finished before u can say happy meal. Hinestly if it ain't for Raistlin I wouldn't bother finishing this book. Like Soulforge Raistlin don't seem to be "The Master of Past and of Prensence" that I like so much.
Rating: Summary: How could you not like it! Review: I haven't finished it yet but I feel already that it is going to be great. And for whoever wrote that bad review from Australia obviously has no idea what DL is about. There has not been one book that I did not like. I never read any books before I picked up a DL book. These books have inspired me to read more. I think Margaret Weis, Don Perrin, and Tracy Hickman should be given more credit. I can't wait to finish this book.
Rating: Summary: Great story; needs more magic Review: I thought "Brothers in Arms" was overall a great book, and I've always loved Maragaret Weis's writings. Raistlin was awesome as always, and Kitiara's story was cool too. I've gotta say that the book really hit a low point on magic, though. I was really hoping for some "magic combined with steel" battles, but there were far too few of these in the book. I was also kindof hoping for some new or unseen spells to emerge. Far too few did. Otherwise the characters were fantastic as always. Weis has done a fantastic job with the settings and characters.
Rating: Summary: An outstanding piece of work!!! Review: Margaret Weis has done it again. A wonderfull story. It fills in the gaps in the story that readers have been waiting for. Though I miss Tracy Hickman, Don Perrin has done well and captured the flavor of Dragonlance. A must read for any fan of Dragonlance or the Brothers Majere.
Rating: Summary: Dull, should have left Brothers Majere alone Review: This book is dull and insipid as compared to earlier portrayals of the brothers Majere. Raistlin after the test according to the earlier books is bitter, angry and sarcastic. Any sign of goodness is masked by his anger. He never had a master but fought on his own. The brothers fought on their own and walked away from any causes not their own. One question: I always thought that the brothers combined magic and steel. That was almost non-existent in the story. Another loophole: I thought Lord Ariakan prefered delicate blond women. The only saving grace was Kitiara. I think she was well fleshed out. The decisions she made, the steps she took all helped in actually moving the story along. In fact if it asn't for her and the fact that there was Raistlin and Caramon I would have given the book a lower rating. This book totally destroyed Raistlin's image in my mind. At least the Soulforge wasn't that bad, but it was still not too good. Still, it is a darn sight much better than this book. The only thing when you read this book, is ignore the fact that the story is about the Brothers Majere and take it as just another book about mercenaries and whatnot and enjoy it. Even then, it isn't so great. However, the little irritating hints about what is going to happen in the Chronicles and Legends make this suggestion almost impossible to follow. Moreover, one most probably picked the book up because it said "The Raistlin Chronicles". You are in for a disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Most excelent. Review: I really enjoyed this book thoroughly. It picks up right where Soulforge left off, with the twins leaving the T.O.H.S., and in my opinion, is just as good of a book. I read it in just under 4 days. I literally couldn't put the book down. My only qualm about it is in one point, Ariakas mentions that kitiara has 2 brothers, one of them a red robed mage...I don't see how he could have known this, when raistlin had donned the red robes only a short time before, and as far as Kitiara knew, he was still a white robe. But, perhaps I am nit-picking. I can't wait for volume three, if there is to be one.
Rating: Summary: great Book!!!!!!!! Review: I think that these other people are fouls for giving the book five stars before it came out. I guess they have nothing better to do. but, the book is great it has action and adventure. You really get a feel for some of Raistlins talents and where he got them from.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Addition To The Raistlin Chronicles Review: I've read about half the book and every chapter is more rewarding than the next. The telling of some of Kitiara and Caramon's pasts are as fitting as they ever could be. And every new insight in to Raistlin is so tantalizing. I recommend this book as a long time Raistlin lover. Or at least the first half of it.
Rating: Summary: More wonderfull insight. Review: I just finished reading Brothers in Arms and I have to say that it didnt fail to impress. Speaking as someone who was completely disapointed with Dragons of Summer Flame and the entire 5th age concept, Brothers in Arms was a much welcome look back at the chronicles of my favorite Dragolance twins. I eagerly await further volumes.
Rating: Summary: Finally Review: Well I just finished it, and I must say it was worth the wait. I was glad to see this book was as much, Caramon and Kit's as it was Raistlin's. Great new character's like Scrounger and Horkin move the story along well. I was suprised how quick I finished it. Recommend to to all fans of fantasy and DL alike.:)
