Rating: Summary: Once more a brilliant story from excellent authors Review: Just finished this book and already thinking of reading it again. Weis has stated that Raistlin is her own character and keeps giving us amazing books about him.Raistlin is of course my personal favorite character and I am looking forward to the next book in his chronicles..If only he could appear somewhere in the War of souls trilogy....*sigh* .. Dont miss that book if you are a fan.. And dont forget... Knowledge is power
Rating: Summary: Fun reading. Review: It took me 2 hours to finish this book ,so you can understand that it's intersting. But you see ,this book does not revel anything new about the main Dragonlance story ,it tells you how things happend (i won't tell the plot so don't worry). The book gives you a better look at raist mind and on the other side show you how kitiara got where she got in the original book. If you're a fan read it asap . if you're not a fan read the chronical first.
Rating: Summary: Another review from a '12 year old' Review: Brothers in Arms was overall a wonderful book. Not only was it great because it had my favorite character, Raistlin, when he was adventuring, it had a good amount of action and it was fun to watch Raistlin and Caramon go through army training. It was well written and I tend to disagree with some others that say Margaret had little say in what this book was about. (Mild Spoilers ahead) It had a decent battle scene when they were in Hope's End and the whole couple chapters at the end while they were there were interesting. The final battle was what made it worthwhile, though. I give it four stars because if it had a little more action more continously, I would've given it five. I would've gave it 4 and 1/2 but there's no 1/2 option. This book is a must, nonetheless, for any Raistlin or DL lover because it tells the story of not only Raistlin's early days, but all of the 'Companions' early years.
Rating: Summary: Excellent look at Pre-Chronicles Raistlin Review: I read the first trilogy by Weis and Hickman, _Chronicles_, a number of years ago. I couldn't put it down! I later read the follow-up story, _Legends_, with Raistlin, his brother, and the cleric. I became forever hooked. Raistlin fascinated me, frustrated me, and made me want to know more about him. I thoroughly enjoyed _Soulforge_ and _Brothers in Arms_. Now I'll have to go back and read the first six novels again. The authors do explain WHY there are some differences in _Chronicles_ and the later trilogy if you read carefully.
Rating: Summary: Once again, a great Raistlin book... Review: I really loved _The Soulforge_ for its detail and the emphasis it places on Raistlin's character development. I liked this one for the same reasons. You have to keep in mind while reading this that Raistlin is here portrayed as a very young person who hasn't really been out in the world, and hence he is not (yet) the bitter, sarcastic, dark-souled person we neet in _Chronicles_. This book, like _Soulforge_, does a good job of showing how he becomes that way, but there is still something missing...I would like to see a third book in the series, perhaps showing more of Raistlin's early experiences that make him into the angry, power-hungry person he becomes in _Chronicles_, since here he is still shown as idealistic and not yet "jaded," as shown in his kindness toward Scrounger (a great addition, by the way, not at all reminescent of Tasslehoff.) All in all, it was a good book, and the descriptions of the twins' "basic training" were absorbing. The subplot involving Kitiara was interesting as well; we get to see a side of her that also leads you to understand why she became who she did. All in all, a good book for fans of Raistlin and Caramon, and for those fascinated by Kitiara.
Rating: Summary: Reading about Majere twins is always well Review: I really like to read raistlins chronichles, and Caramon and Raist are always good persons. This books baddest thigs were Kitiara. I have ever liked ¨her wery much. I liked too twins's half-kender-friend. READ THIS !"!!½½
Rating: Summary: Down right awesome Review: If you have read the Soulforge, you will love it's sequel. It picks up right where the first one left off. Now that Raistlin is aware of his power, he must learn how to use it effectively, He does so by learning the art of being a war mage. Also if you are an AD&D fan, Weis has an awesome description for explaining the art of magic. I can't wait to get the next one
Rating: Summary: written for financial reasons I am sure Review: This is not a bad novel but it didn't need writing its like a desperate attempt to fill gaps that don't need filling. It's enjoyable don't get me wrong but it could have been better if it was thought through more.
Rating: Summary: Nice look at the early Years Review: This book gives the reader a nice look at the Brothers and their sister Kit. The book is not Centered on our Hourglass eyed mage, rather it gives an account of how the brothers learned to fight. I read Volume one and found this volume to follow it nicely. the question is where will this story end for people who just can't get enough information on what made Raist the way he is.
Rating: Summary: I have serious doubts... Review: I have serious doubts that Weis had a lot to do with the actual writing of this book. It seems that Perrin wrote it (perhaps from an outline of Weis) because the writing style is quite different starting from page # 1. Not to say that this is a bad book, it is just not Weis. After getting over that disappointment, I enjoyed the book. (mild spoilers ahead) Scrounger is an excellent addition to the DL canon, and I really dug it when he 'learned' fear. The whole Kitiara 'side' story could have been a novel in its own right. I found it kind of unbelieveable when the three siblings 'missed' one another towards the end.
