Summary: Disappointed
Review: Any of you who are big Raistlin fans like myself, will be a little disappointed in how he is portrayed in this book. In the Soulforge and throughout the Chronicles and Legends trilogies, he is always one step ahead of everyone else. Always seems to know a little bit more about each situation than everyone else as well. In Brothers in Arms, he seems to be one step behind in everything, including casting his magic. The storyline was ok but not very entertaining, unless you like reading about military life as a mercenary. The book is really for Kitaria fans. Those of you who are fans of her character will really enjoy seeing how she begins her ascent to Dragon Highlord. The book has some good moments, but compared to what Dragonlance fans are used to reading from Margaret Weis its a little disappointing.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good read, although something's missing...
Review: Brothers in Arms chronicles further the young Majere brothers and even their sister Kitiara. Beware up front-- since this is the younger Raistlin, he's not the mean and nasty Black Robe of Chronicles! In here (the novel) the reader finds themselves watching the Majere brothers through some time of their 'soldiers of fortune' days.
During the novel, especially throughout the training of the mercenary army, the theme seems to slip from Dragonlance to that of a bootcamp manual... hence the 4 stars not 5 (along with a few other events that I won't spoil for anyone)... only to never fully get back into the grove of DL.

Would I recommend it? Even so, yes! To newcommers of DL, this will help you understand Raistlin and Kitiara much better (Caramon doesn't really change, lol), and for the old-time DL fans, this still can give some insight that was perhaps missed in later novels.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent book, but it still raises the hair on my neck
Review: I could not put this book down. It was filled with adventure and excitement from beginning to end. Anyone who likes Raistlin and Caramon will love this book. It gives the reader more insight onto what happened after Raistlin completed the Test in the Tower and how he felt about it. The book was full of twists and turns, and had a very climatic ending. I just can't wait for the third book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: So detailed its scary
Review: Again Margaret Wies and Don Perrin release a very detailed novel of the brothers Majere. I'm continually impressed with there ability to draw you in using massive detail and character development.

What this book is not: A 100% action packed war in which every scene contains another encounter to defeat (a.k.a 'Hack and Slash')

What this book is: A well written novel about a couple of young kids looking for adventure and knowledge. However the harsh reality may not be what the two brothers are looking for.

For those that have read the original DragonLance Chronicals you will begin to understand the development of Raistlin into what he later becomes. I feel bad for him, but I am angry with him at the same time! That can only come from a well written novel!
