Rating: Summary: A great book (and trilogy) Review: This book is great it is full of adventure and it doesn't bore u with introducing the characters i dives into the story and lets little thing help you understand and form a picture of the character and his past. It truly is a great book.
Rating: Summary: Perhaps one of the most incredible pieces of fantasy fiction Review: I've read literally hundreds of fantasy fictions novels in my lifetime and Weis and Hickman are by far my favorite (also see Darksword Trilogy!). The Dragonlance Chronicles are the best (I'm on my fifth re-read of this classic story) in the genre. The mysterious mage Raistlin and the curious and mischievous Tasslehoff are by far the most well-developed and interesting characters I've ever experienced in fantasy literature. Two thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: One of the best fantasy books of all time Review: This book is one of the best books I have read and I have read a lot. This books keeps who in a trance as you read about the heroes and about mythical dragons. After you read this captivating book you should really read the sequel to it,"Dragons of Winter Night".
Rating: Summary: It was the best one of all the Chronicles seris Review: It was filled with adventure, and just a book that once you pick it up and read it, you can't put it down to stop reading it
Rating: Summary: Best Book in the Best Series in the world, DragonLance Review: This is a great book, It has lots of character depth, tons of plot twists and plenty of other good book type things. This book could be sold for $200 a copy, and I would still have boughten it to read again. The best part about the book, it never ends, it is the first and most important book to a series containg well over 80 books!
Rating: Summary: Best Fantasy books of all time Review: This is with out a doubt a good fantasy book, but thats like saying that Star Trek was just another Sci-fi Show, or that Die Hard was another action adventure flick. I recomend this book for all ages. Within moments of starting to read this story you are pulled into it and become one of the characters. The writers did an excelent job on creating the populice of Krynn, from Knight to Mage, to dwarf to half-elf; and of course my favorite character Tasselholf Burrfoot. so grab your sword and shield your Hoopak and pooches, your staff and spellbooks, or in our case a comfortable easy chair and read on. Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK MADE ME LOVE FANTASY Review: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman ROCK! The first book I read of their's was about the Gully Dwarves (unfortunately I forget the title). I am almost done reading this but fell in love with it within the first pages! i also like the poetry by Michael Williams. I am only were Tanis comes upon his old home, about to meet the speaker, but this book has been the best I EVER read! The band is a very unlikely one, but they all fit together. I havea feeling I have a lot in store for me yet! I read the reviews of the people who rated it 3 or 6 and my mouth dropped open in disbelief! The one who said read it to your children, but not for yourself deffinately aren't people for fantasy! Not original? In what story have you read about Forestmasters? Hobogoblins and exploding Draconiand? What about the twins? Raistlin & Caramon? Tasselehof? (Tasselehof RULES!)Have you read about a story with Magi's, elves, Kenders, Barbarians, half elves half humans, knights, clerics, and dwarfs and a mumbling Old Man all together? I think not! What about cities in rose quartz and gold? I think the writing was the best that everr was! Iam a young and aspiring writer, fashioning my writing like their's (but not against copyright laws) Using their formation of strong characters, dragons, etc. And the wonderful never put down qualities! Rating: Summary: Sure, it's fluff, but it's CLASSIC fluff! Review: Okay, okay, so it's just another piece of pulp fodder written for the Almighty Dollar, but I can't help loving this book! Even years after reading it, I still enjoy rereading once in a while. It's a nice solid piece of escapism, and there's nothing wrong with that! Personally, I think the characters in the book, while they may be cookie cutter and stereotypical, are so richly developed that it's easy to get attached to them. Let's face it, you can have the most original storyline, the deepest insights, the most fiendish plot twists, but if you can't identify with the characters, the story is worth nothing. That's about the whole of it.
Rating: Summary: Suitable for Tolkien's enemies Review: "El retorno de los dragones", as it has been translated into Spanish, is one of the funniest and more interesting novels I have ever read. I am not a fan of the fantasy-fiction genre; I haven't even read "The Lord of the Rings", which in my opinion is quite a boring story. I do not like that childish point of view of Saint JRR, and I do not like playing role, either. However, the Dragonlance Chronicles (not only the first volume but also the whole thrilogy) has got my heart. I read it a couple of years ago, and I am doing it again just in order to remember such a dense plot. I have never get bored whilst reading any of the three books which the series consists of. I have been able to understand complicated personalities which go further than simple characters who fight against each other. Tasslehoff is not a stupid hobbit, he's an extremely clever, funny and riotous kender; warriors are not almighty people who can just take their blades and hit whoever they want to (and as a matter of fact, they DIE. May God Have Sturm with him). The magician, Raistlin, is my fauvourite novel character. As for the other members of this fellowship, they are great. Weis and Hickman manage to introduce all of them without boring the reader (and they are many). To sum up, you'd better read this book and the other two. You will enjoy yourself, even if you HATE, as I myself do, this kind of story.
Rating: Summary: Doubtlessly one of the best book of the Dragonlance series Review: Though the plot of this book is not always persistent (looks like W. and H. weren't completely sure what will happen next), they say writers never control their caracters absolutely. Generally, this book is very interesting, full of action (perhaps a bit too much of swordplay for me), with the intriguing plot and well-defined, original, bright personages. Raistlin and Tasslehoff are the best, of course. Bupu is extremely poignant, while Fizban... well, read the book and you'll get the idea. I was very delighted by the fact that I've finally found the heroic team with one bad guy in it (As we see later in "The Test of the Twins" Raistlin isn't that bad though, yet nevermind.) This book more hints at things than directly talks about, but it is a real masterpiece and should be read by any fantasy fan. Later books get more serious and persistent, but simultaneously somewhat lack the freshness and nonchalance of the first one. Buy it, you won't regret.
