Summary: A great Encyclopedia!
Review: I have owned this book for awhile now and I think this is a wonderful book! If you love Star Trek then buy this BOOK!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great, but could have been better
Review: I like the color photos in this revised edition, but they segregated the newer entries in the back. I couldn't have been the only one that thought that was weird.

Summary: . . . Wow!
Review: This is a must for a Star Trek fan! I used to say I knew a lot about Star Trek . . . ha, ha! (yeah, right!) It's a really cool book--it's got everything from the USS ENTERPRISE 1701 herself to root beer! It's got TONS of fabulous pictures (clear, too! they aren't fuzzy and everything!) I can't ever just look up one thing in this book; whenever I go to look up something, I see something else, whcih leads to something else, and so on, and so on, . . .

This book also lays to rest what stuff has been made up by fan fiction writers, and what stuff was *really* in the shows (or movies). Example: No, Diane Duane did *not* come up with the Romulan greeting "jolan tru"!

Also, if you want to do as Diane Duane, A.C.Crispin, or William Shatner, and write your own Star Trek story (whether just to post on the 'net or *actually* publish), this would be most helpful.

. . . Simply: Great book, you'll love it!

Summary: Title For Review
Review: This book is wonderful. I love it. This one has color photos unliked the first edition. It covers everything that you need or want to know about the Star Trek Universe. The only down side is that this edition doesn't have a picture of Robin Lefler. You can't live without this book. It should be distributed to households by pocket books as a promotion, or just because it's a good book. I give TSTE, *High FIVES the Okudas* FIVE AWESOME STARS!

PS I like all the references to, The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimention.

Summary: Great but falls apart
Review: Star Trek: Encyclopedia 5.0 is a very good piece of reference material and include all data relating to Star Trek. It has partial listings of the alien cultures, the planets, and Federation Starships. The expanded area includes all recent data including Season 7 of DS9 the 9th movie and midway through Season 5 on Voyager. At the end of the book their are a few intresting things such as size relation of a few Federation ships, size relation of a few alien ships, a Star Trek Universe timeline, the making of Star Trek timeline, a list of all of the Episodes of TOS, TNG,DS9, the 9 movies, and all episodes to the end of Season 5 on Voyager. The only flaw is that the book falls apart very easily. If I where you I would get the hardbound copy or the Computer version.

Summary: Hurray! An update
Review: At long last an update version that goes up the end of Deep Space Nine, Voyager Season Five, and Star Trek: Next Generation Insurrection. An absolute most for any trekkie fan, especially those had the previous editions.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The perfect reference guide
Review: I was so happy the day that I got this book, and I couldn't imagine, as a big trekkie buff, not having this book. It has everything there is to be known about star trek. If you're a trekkie, get this book. I mean now!

Summary: thought I knew it all...
Review: This is the best Trek reference book for all Trekkers. I look in it all the time just to look up stuff, and then I find myself sitting there for half an hour completely off track from where I started. Plus, it helps when another fan will say something completly technical, I can just look it up in there. This has absolutely, every single piece of info on Trek there ever was, even the food they eat and every name of every planet. It's really helpful for any fan.

Summary: Astounding Wealth of Research and Knowledge
Review: I think I know a lot about Star Trek, but oh my lord! This is THE referance book for fans. It literally has EVERYTHING. Covers planets, ships, characters, baseball cards, klingon flys, YOU NAME IT! It is astounding how much work and effort must have gone into this book.

The book itself is beautiful. It is illustrated with color pictures from the show and technical illustrations done by the authors. The pages are glossy and laid out beautifully. It also serves as an episode guide, covering up through the release of "Star Trek: Insurrection".

What a wonderful labor of love this book is. It is very entertaining and informative, and a must have for any fan of the series.

Summary: And You Think You Know Trek!
Review: Aliens? Ships? Even plants, hobbies, some of the best 'trek trivia' to be found! This book answered nearly every question I posed it. Even 'Gloria' is listed! Buy the book to find out who Gloria is.) My only complaint is that some of the subject matter could have been cross-indexed (for example it would have been nice to have the 'Trek Aliens' listed somewhere seperately as a reference).

A good companion book is 'Star Trek Chronology'.
