Summary: Excellent book! Sub-par ending!
Review: This book is a masterpiece for 90% of the story. However, the ending left me empty. You cannot end a novel abruptly in just one long chapter. It is obvious that there will be more books to come but this one could have ended much better. Salvatore is one of the best writters in the field and I still think he has what it takes to write a good book. The whole Artemis Drizzt fight was great but it ended stupid. R.A.'s best works are the Icewind Dale Trilogy and the Dark Elf Trilogy. So far, every hardcover book was a bit of a dissapointment. Four Stars for me would be great, but for Salvatore, it is sub-par.

Summary: Saved by the ending...
Review: While a good deal of the book seemed to drag, the last fifty pages or so more than made up for it. I can see why Salvatore would switch to a different approach, filling his pages with more description and introspection rather than the usual adventure and action, but after a two year wait for this book, I think most fans would have enjoyed some excitement sooner.

The combat scenes were, on the whole, less dramatic than those in his previous works, written as if in apathy. I must admit: I was disappointed. Being a hard-core R.A. Salvatore fan, I had really high expectations for this novel. True, his ending made up for it, which is why I awarded this book four stars instead of three, but fifty pages of masterful storytelling is almost not worth 250 pages of aimless meandering. In short, this was unlike any of Salvatore's previous Drizzt novels, books that usually had a firm, obvious goal in mind.

Despite moments of greatness, the book never fully absorbed my attention until the end. There, loose ends were tied together, some were snipped off, and yet others unwound. Still, one leaves the book feeling sated...and eager for resolution, and that will keep readers coming back for more.

Summary: Disappointed Fan
Review: As an avid reader of Forgotten Realms books and a huge fan of R.A. Salvatore, I must say I am a bit disappointed with Salvatore's last two efforts with the "companions of the hall". I think there was a blatant lack of anything that resembles conclusion in "Silent Blade", and Drizzt (previously one of my favorite characters) whines more than ever. I did like the angle with Wulfgar, and hopefully we will see more installments on this (although I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that he was brought back from the dead in "Passage to Dawn"). Also, it was cool to see Jarlaxle and Entreri working in concert in Calimport.

The book was captivating as with all Salvatore's works, but too open ended. That's great if there are to be more books, but if not...well.

Looking for a follow-up Bob.

Summary: A must for any Drizzt library.
Review: Salvatore's talent for capturing the motivations of characters is captivating. I found my self immersed in the minds of Entreri and Wulfgar. I could feel Wulfgar's pain and Entreri's frustration. As usuall Salvatore's battle sequences were magnificent. I loved everything about this book including the outstanding artwork on the cover. I hope this is not the last we see of Entreri; he is certainly an intriguing character. Readers will no doubt enjoy the inner turmoil of the characters and the devious manipulations of clever Jarlaxle(who plays a rather prominent role in the book.) Well done and thank-you Mr. Salvatore for another enoyable read.

Summary: Another Great Adventure
Review: Bob....You need to keep writing...because you left us hanging again!! I finished "The Silent Blade" and I loved every page. The twists and turns of the story just kept the pages turning. I was rather shocked in the final chapter when...I won't ruin it for everyone that hasn't read it. Mr. Salvatore, please don't take so long writing the sequel to this one!

Summary: I predict 2-3 more books of Drizzt and friends.
Review: This isn't the end. To tell you the truth, it won't be the end until Drizzt dies. There are so many things to be resolved. For one, there are too many Drow ememies that Drizzr has. Second, Artimus is still alive and kicking. Finally, Catti-brie still hasn't chosen between Wulfgar and Drizzt. Personally, I think she'll chose Drizzt. Not because I want her to, it's just that they know each other so well and they have the same kind of passions and morals and they're really great together. Catti-brie and Wulfgar would end up killing each other one day. I believe she knows this, but she doesn't want to abandon Wulfgar due to his emotional turmoil. When Cat decides, it'll be based on who she loves the most, and by this book, I strongly believe it's going to be Drizzt.

Summary: i liked the writing of the thee different characters, great!

Summary: LONG LIVE DRIZZT! Good book , terrible ending !
Review: This is simply the best Drizzt book ever. Its got Drizzt's long time rival (Artemis Entreri) and theyre ongoing conflict is finally resolved! Not like many Drizzt fans would like but still quite interesting. The return of Jaraxle was great. So was the return of Creshinibon. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone!!

Summary: Nothing short of incredible!
Review: I just put down the book a few minites ago and I had to share with all of you who frequent these pages just how great this novel is. Without going into too much detail about the book (not even addressing the issue of Drizzt's speculated death, as I think that would be unfair to the reader), I will say this; of any novel R.A. Salvatore has ever written, and I do indeed have each and every one of them, this by far outshines them all. (A personal opionion of course, but is that not what these forumns are for?) Salvatore brings together all of his most memorable charcters from the Dark Elf novels in this book and ties up loose ends that fans from the early days will appreciate. He brings major characters to a deeper, more complex level that makes them more realistic as people instead of the heroes we have always known them as. That touch of personal realism and conflict gives this book a life that Salvatore fans will come to love and will make The Silent Blade one of the most re-read books of thier collection. Go and pick up The Silent Blade, don't wait for it to come out in paperback, you will be depriving yourself of some great reading.

Summary: It's been a while...
Review: After the whole mess with TSR and Mr. Salvatore, I feared I would never get to write these words. However, with the publication of The Silent Blade, Mr. Salvatore has returned trimphantly to his old stomping grounds, displaying a passion and verve unrivaled by many writers in the genre. Though the tale of Drizzt and company does not stray far from the conventional, it is vintage Salvatore nonetheless. His breathtakingly vivid battle scenes are as alive as ever, and his painstakingly crafted, straight-from-the-heart essays from Drizzt's perspective still cause shivers to run up and down the length of the spine. The book does contain surprises as well, however, including one that may cause the old heart to skip a few beats. But, that's why we read Salvatore, isn't it? To feel that chill, that shiver, that intense emotion that he conveys. Whether it is Drizzt's struggle for acceptance, Cattie-brie's romantic struggle, or Bruenor's constant complaining, Salvatore evokes in the reader strong reactions. It is for that feeling that I would like to say thank you to Mr. Salvatore. For it is that very power of the written word, the power to make a reader laugh, yell, and cry all within the same chapter, that makes literature special. And, it is for that reason R.A. Salvatore is and always will be one of the best there is at what he does.
