Rating: Summary: An excellent book that was hard to put down Review: I personnaly think that this was an excellent book. I believe the plot was well thought up. The characters were all well portrayed. The one thing I noticed, (it's probably coincedence) is that this book has similiar writing as that of the Terry Goodking series (at least thats my opinion). But all in all, an excellent book that I could not put down.
Rating: Summary: Character depth is just as important as fast action Review: In Bob's early works, his fast paced battle scenes are what sold his books, and got people addicted to his writing. He fleshed out Drizzt first (also, the best so far). Then he went on to the rest of the chars. But Wulfgar always seemed like the one that didn't have any depth! He was always just the "big guy" of the group. In this book, Bob finally gets wulfgar acting like a person. Think about it, all the rest of his charaters are pure and faultless. Finally we see some humanity out of one of his creations. This book isn't about action. and some may say it's just filler. But to me, character development is just as important as action. Wulfgar is dealing with the fact that he has fallen, that he isn't perfect anymore. And he is dealing with addiction. While that may sound like something that doesn't belong in a fantasy book, it makes him all the more real. besides, I don't know if I could have dealt with any more ill concived bad guys like "Tree Block Breaker". C'mon! How lame is that? The Silent Blade was truly disappointing. That is one book I think he wrote just for the money. But before you condenm this book, give it another read and see if you can find the depth I did.Oh yea, I am kinda getting sick of the essays...they are starting to sound like sermons.
Rating: Summary: THANK YOU! Review: Mr. Salvatore, thank you for finally writing a book that's actually ABOUT something! In the Spine of the World RA Salvatore shows a great leap forward in his ability and maturity as an author. This book goes so way beyond the stereotypical action/adventure of his previous Drizzt books . . . it was a pleasant surprise and has made me look forward to the next one more than I have since The Legacy. GREAT BOOK!
Rating: Summary: One of his best.... Review: This book is great... this one is more serious then the others books of the series. it's more like the "Demon" series then the forgotten realm. This book is more for adult and surely not for children. I think it's why some peoples give bad review. If you love great story with surprising ending you will love it. But if you are the kind to like only action ("à la" Executionner) and you think that story is just a think to slow down the action stay far from Spine of the World because the strong side of Spine of the world is his great story.
Rating: Summary: A Pointless Bridge Review: As a bridge to another storyline (the future reunion of Drizzt and Wulfgar) the novel fails to deliver any excitement. The story can be summarized as "How Wulfgar lost his hammer, but adopts a daughter." In the grand saga of R. A. Salvatore's Icewind Dale/Dark Elf series, this book can be skipped. Let us just hope that Mr. Salvatore can do better next time (and that Hasbro will let him).
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book was one of his best. Even if it didn't have the other charectors. I read half of the book wondering, whats with this book, then when it all came together it was like WOW!! The first part of the book is rather slow, but the middle and end makes up for it perfect. I would very highly recommend this book to all the readers who likes his older ones, you will not be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: This book could have been covered in 4 chapters... Review: It is upsetting to see that a once great series, full of great characters and action, has become a very mediocre series filled with boring characters and an author that lacks the ingenuity that hooked us all. I loved most of the previous books by Salvatore, but a true fan must see the denoument of this author, as his books, now, take an entire novel to unfold, what he used to do in one or two chapters. Spine of the World, would have been better off, being a 4 chapter part of a real novel...the plot and story were not enough to carry it for a full 300 pages. I hate to say it, but perhaps Bobby Salvatore has finally sold us out, turning out garbage instead of the high quality writing that he got us all addicted to, such as in The Crystal Shard, or the Dark Elf Trilogy. Think about what I said...we all know it to be true
Rating: Summary: Ok What happend to Salvatore and who wrote this trash Review: This is bar none the worst book that I have ever had the displeasure of reading. I was a huge fan of all of the other books in this series but in this one he falls Waaaaay short. If I had to compare this book to a movie it would be plan 9 from outer space but even that dismal bomb of a movie does not quite express how I feel about this title, which should have been burned before it was ever published. This book was bad bad bad my only regret about this review is that I can not give this book a rating any lower than 1 star. And for the ending I all I can say is Bob you need to put that pipe down..
Rating: Summary: I know it will be another great!! Review: I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet, but I haven't been dissappointed in any of his other books. I can only hope that this one will be no different! I would also like to know if there will be triligies on each of the five friends or not?
Rating: Summary: Great Review: It would of been better if there was more about drizzt and cattibre but overall it was a great book of wulfgars redemtion
