Rating: Summary: I wouldn't even think of reading it Review: Any author that pokes fun at Tolkien's masterpiece "The Lord of the Rings" should be horsewhipped!I haven't even read this book(just flipped through it)and I still have no intent to do so.It's not that I don't like parodies,in fact I love them(like "star trek" parodies)but Tolkien's books should absolutly NOT be ridiculed!
Rating: Summary: jeje, homee Review: yo homes, im so homified it's not even close to uhh.. homeeness! down with the fomees!
Rating: Summary: One of the funniest books I've ever read ! Review: It's been 15 years since I read this, yet so much of it sticks in my mind: "Hither come and suck a pipe, Turn thy brains to cheese and tripe.", and "I sit on the floor and pick my nose..." !! Yes, it's crude, it's slapstick, it's rude, but it's still one of the funniest books written. Those of you who are offended by this parody either just don't like this kind of humor (which is OK) or you take yourselves way too seriously (which isn't). I dearly love Lord of the Rings (and all of Tolkien's work), but there's nothing wrong with poking a little fun at the series. What counts is to do it well. For a contrast between a good parody (this one) and a bad parody, read Doon; you'll see the difference immediately.
Rating: Summary: It rules. Review: It is HILARIOUS. For all you die-hard Tolkieners, look at things this way. People read this, and then they buy your precious Tolkien books in order to understand the jokes better! Without the parody, I'm sure Tolkien would be long forgotten.
Rating: Summary: ....without comment Review: yeah sure like MINIMUM 100 WORDS, like i have the time to write all that mm... I DONT THINK SO PAL not this time nor another nor here nor anywherel, do you understand me young man??!! jeje, bye (i hate the man who wrote this book, how those he dare to interfere to magnificent tolkien???!!!) babay
Rating: Summary: clever names, perhaps, but not worth much Review: Now, I understand that this is slapstick parody. It's supposed to be ridiculous, and make all the characters look like worthless scum. Well, fine. I guess I just don't appreciate that kind of humor. Tolkien's books have humor, but his characters also demand some respect. I must admit that I didn't read the whole book. I found it in a pile of discarded books in our attic, and flipped through it. Most of it disgusted me. I never did read it, and gave it to someone who couldn't stand the Lord of the Rings and liked parodies, thinking she might appreciate it. I do think the names were clever, such as Minas Troney for Minas Tirith, and the small X shaped forest, Twodor and Fourdor.. but, face it, these might be funny in their relation to the original, but they're worthless on their own. Basically, they turn everyone into pathetic banal creatures. I don't think anyone can have any respect for the High Elves, and like this book. Or even for the simple goodness of Hobbits, which is made so crude... If you want to read good satire, read Jonathon Swift. If you like Mel Brooks, you might just like this book. And even the disclaimer on the back is a parody of the 1960's version of Lord of the Rings, in which Tolkien said "This paperback edition, and no other, has been published with my consent and co-operation. Those who approve of courtesy (at least) to living authors will purchase it, and no other." [In protest of the unauthorized Ace publication]. If he couldn't even stop people from publishing books he wrote without his consent, what makes people think he had any vote on a parody of his work? So, assuming he approved of this because he was alive when it was written is a bit of a stretch. Now he is dead, so you may do what you like, but anyone who appreciates the truth and meaning in his writing will abhore this disgusting spin-off, which is basically just political humor and crude sex jokes.
Rating: Summary: awesome Review: I can't believe that some people would find this book unfunny. I laughed my guts out! Absolutely hilarious. don't get me wrong, the Trilogy of the Rings are my favorite books! Even so, this book was the funniest I have ever read. Those of you who don't find it funny must have 0 capacity for enjoyment. You just can't appreciate a funny book when you see it! Think of it not as making fun of The Trilogy, but as a widening of your perspective on the books. So many possibilities! Thank you, Harvard Lampoon. This book is great!
Rating: Summary: A truckload of laughs for fantasy lovers who need a break! Review: This enchanting parody was one of the funniest books I have read in quite a while. It starts off just like the original series it's based on ,with a few twists; mainly the names. The heroes goal is to get to Fodor and destroy Sorhed"s evil ring.Along the way they must face the foul swine riders, narcs, and other hideous things you'll have to read the book to find out about.

Rating: Summary: Hilarious book! Review: Let's get this straight. Tolkien was alive when this was written. If he didn't want it to be written, he would have done something about it! It's a hilarious parody, and should be respected as such. Tolkien was a great author, but the guy did have a sense of humor and if he didn't mind this parody, neither should you.
