Rating: Summary: The greatest book ever published on Star Wars! Review: There have been many books published on the Star Wars trilogy, most of the have been mini-guides to it's world, but this book is a SUPER GUIDE! If you hold a special spot in your heart for the story set a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... you owe it to yourself to buy this magnificent book. The price is high... yet it's so low for the information held within. A great addition to any library.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, A must have for the true Star Wars fan. Review: This book has it all, when it comes to photos and illustrations of Star Wars, as well as, little known information about the movies and spin off materials of Lucas's universe. This is a fans dream in hard cover.
Rating: Summary: OH MY! Review: This book is absolutely a must for any Star Wars fan. The photographs are fabulous and the descriptions are fantastic. The behind the scenes information alone is worth the price of the book. There are photos in this book that I have never seen before, including images of conceptual and pre-production models. 300+ pages of awesome pictures!
Rating: Summary: The MUST HAVE book in the Star Wars collection. Review: This book is absolutetly GREAT! My wife got it for me for my birthday(w/a different cover-last one on the shelf.)True, there's not a lot to read here...for that I would suggest reading the first version of the ILM special effects book(also pricey) with everything from matte paintings to the formula for shooting miniatures. Another MUST HAVE for FX enthusiasts. TO mgibson@Next.com:read-FROM STAR WARS TO INDIANA JONES:THE BEST OF THE LUCASFILM ARCHIVES by Mark Cotta Vaz and Shinji Hata, for beautiful photos of the three lightsaber props(w/their dimensions)used in the films;including Luke/Anakin's streamlined model. From Chronicle Books.
Rating: Summary: Not worth it. Review: This book is big and beautiful, but it seems like the authors simply got their hands on a bunch of good pictures of Star Wars without really knowing anything more than the average fan (ie. Not much insider information). Also, I bought this book because I like behind the scenes info on movies of which is totally lacking in this book. The authors seem more interested in giving imaginary dimensions of ships and how powerful its lasers are. I wanted a "Chronicle" of the movies, not of a bunch of useless facts about a technology that doesn't exist in an imaginary universe. But, it's still pretty to look at. If you want a book with just as good pictures, I recommend "From Star Wars to Indiana Jones: The Best of the Lucasfilm Archieves" buy Mark Cotta Vaz and Shinji Hata. Just as good and way cheaper.
Rating: Summary: WOW, What a cool book. Review: This book is the top of the line Star Wars book. If you are a true fan, then get it. Amazon's price is cheaper than I've seen anywhere else.Be careful though, the snap on the cover was ripped off when I opened it, that sort of thing shouldn't happen on a 100 dollar book! Still the pictures and behind the scenes info will keep you reading all night. Every alien in the Cantina and Jabba's palace are covered with pictures and a quick bio. Every model is shown in detail. Deleated scenes are described. It even has scenes from the 1977 holiday special. This edition doesn't cover the Episode One or the Special Edition versions of the movies, but still it's a terrific read. Timelines cover the novels and their place in the Star Wars universe. My personal favorite is the side by side comparason charts of all the ships in relation to each other. The book is like a deluxe version of the "Art Of" books. Where they end, this book delves deeper. GET THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: A collection the Star Wars Fans must have ! Review: This excellent work has two versions: the Japanese version is published by Take Shobo Publishing Inc. at 1995, retail price is 20,000 yen, roughly equal to US $150. This version has a serious number printed on the last page, so the amount of copies should be limited. Another is English reprint version, which is out of stock for a while, but it should not out of print (I hope so). The most important feature causes the Star Wars fans "must have" is that there are more than 2000 pohtos in this book (including hundreds never published before) and the quality is very nice (Japanses version is much better than the English one). Otherwise, the content of both versions is identical. Since this book is photos-oriented, I suggest the Star Wars Collectors looking for the Japanese Version at first (but it is hard to find now), the English one is second option.
Rating: Summary: A Fan's Dream Come True Review: This hefty volume is probably the single biggest collection of STAR WARS photos ever assembled, and die hard fans will love it. Seemingly hundreds of never before seen pics, including many revealing behind the scenes stuff (Greedo was played by a woman!). If you're looking for informative text there are plenty of other books that do a much better job but when it comes to photos, this book is unmatched.
Rating: Summary: Exceptional Collection of formerly unpublished photos! Review: This is highly recommended. It is an English reprint of the Japanese release of the book. (I picked up the $400 japanese edition...) The Japanese edition has sharper and chrisper photos, but is in Japanese. Get this book if you love star wars.
Rating: Summary: THE Star Wars photo resource Review: This is quite a comprehensive book of Star Wars props and models. I paid $180 for it and so far it seems well worth it since there are a lot of pictures I hadn't seen before. Then again, I thought that I could find some detail photographs of sandtroopers and their equipment but it seems I must still keep on looking for those.
