Rating: Summary: wies and hickman only Review: i have only enjoyed the weis and hickman series out of these books. i can remember when i was first introduced to the world of raistlin. age check here. it was a which way book, that when you came to a certain point you had to make a choice of what you wanted to do then you flipped to that page. it came with a little card that you wrote down your spells and what components you could carry with you. it was a book about raistlins testtest to become a magic user. wish i remembered the name of that book, would be a good keepsake. overall this series, the twins chronicles, and the 2 books about raistlins youth and their time in the mercenaries have been excellent reads. i am in the process of reading the twins series again as i am out of anything to read and they are always a good fallback series to read. never really saw a connection between them and the lord of the rings though.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING Review: I love the Dragonlance Chronicles. I probably read them 7 or 8 times a year, just to walk with the Companions again. I rate this trilogy 6 out of 5 stars. Also, if you enjoy this trilogy, read the Twins trilogy.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I read them in high school when they first came out and bought again and read them as an adult. Excellent books that started out the whole DragonLance genre.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put These Down Review: I read these three books years ago, but I still remember them as being some of the most entertaining books I have ever read. I read all types of books, some of which I probably have forgotten, but these are completely memorable and fresh in my mind. If you are looking for very entertaining reading, you have found it. What probably adds to this is that the combination of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman is pretty difficult to beat. I have read a few of their other books, and they are pretty much all terrific.
Rating: Summary: Those words like "a" and "I" are still very complicated Review: I reread the books, and realized that I had been reading the book upside-down. Also, I realized that the broom wasn't a main character. And that Tanis wasn't a water bucket. Also Flint wasn't a half-dragon. And that Raistlin wasn't actually MOO-MOO MCGEE. In closing, I would like to say that I'm attractive, but I'm actually quite ugly.
Rating: Summary: Simple minded trash.. Review: I started reading these books because I love fantasy and have been a huge fan of Tolkien for most of my life. However, soon after I began reading the first book of the trilogy, I realized that this must be intended for children or for very dimwitted people. The writing style is simplistic and non-descriptive. Characters are shallow and almost always INCREDIBLY stupid. Fantasy cliches run rampant, the book even contradicts itself on several occasions. There are way too many examples to list here. I don't understand how there could be so many good reviews for this. There is nothing original or even interesting about this book. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Go out and read something that will actually make you THINK a little, like The Silmarillion. If not you might as well sit around and watch TV for all the good it does you.
Rating: Summary: Dragonlance Review: I think this is really a great book. I can't compare it with Tolkien (who spent half his life studying Middle Earth) but on the whole I think it's pretty good. Tanis bears a strange likeness to Aragorn in the way he acts and the other characters might have been taken from the Fellowship too. I woul recommend this book only if you don't mind a book that doesn't have a lot of back detail invovled (like maps and history or whatever)
Rating: Summary: Epic Fantasy. Review: I was in a reading crisis when I got these.I had just begun to feel that the books I was reading felt to .........young.Then I got these for my birthday and everything changed. It was just what I'd been looking for,a classical dwarf-elf fantasy, exciting, and in some ways original.Weiss and Hickman develope a magical world that nobody else could at all. Dragons of Autumn Twilight:Several friends are meeting for the first time in several years at an inn.But when they meet a woman with a blue crystal staff their lives are changed forever as they are swept on an adventure of peril, magic, and romance.
Rating: Summary: STILL AMAZING AFTER ALL THESE YEARS! Review: I was in my early teens when I first grabbed a copy of Dragons of Autumn Twilight, first of the Dragonlance Chronicles. And at that time, I considered the whole series a literary treasure of the 20th century. And now that I'm older, I revisited Krynn after chancing upon the re-issued copies of the series -- and even if I can clearly see some of its holes and imperfections now, I still have to give Dragonlance Chronicles the 5 stars it deserves!
Rating: Summary: Great Books, Great Bargain Review: I won't try to give an in-depth review of all three books, I've written one for the first and I'll get the next two reviews written shortly, if you really need my opinion :D
However, I bought all three books individually, and I paid half again as much as you'd pay getting this boxed set. This is a great bargain, and frankly you don't often see very good discounts on fantasy paperbacks.
I recommend all three of these novels, and the Twins Trilogy, and the Raistlin Chronicles. You are far better off buying the boxed set here than buying the books indivudually. The books won't disappoint, and the price can't be beat.
