Summary: Not Bad
Review: A good trilogy with an interesting story-line but with weak character development. A little light when compared to the likes of Lord of the Rings; it has a good balance of action and drama, so I recommend this to every fantasy fans.

Summary: Brilliantly original and entertaining¿eat your heart out
Review: After reading what seemed like hundreds of talentless Tolkien imitators, I reluctantly picked up the Dragonlance series...and found myself more than pleasantly surprised. The stories are wonderfully clever and never dull; they reverberate with an energy that is all their own, and although there are obvious nods to Tolkien along the way (the kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot bears an incredible resemblance to the optimisitc hobbit Pippin Took), all resemblance ends there. The characters are unique and intriguing; the plots have twists and turns that even a seasoned fantasy fanatic is surprised by. The elegant writing style picks you up and carries you along, inviting you into the intoxicating world of Ansalon. And after reading the Dragonlance chronicles, who wouldn't want to go?

Summary: Simply The Best!!
Review: After spending a few years reading(or in the case of the original 40 books rereading)almost all the DL novels, I was a little tired of reading about the same world so I decided to try other fantasy novels.

Robert Jordan- The Wheel Of Time books were great - so great in fact that after 8 books not even the writer himself could handle the pressure.

Terry Brooks- jury's still out.
Terry Goodkind- One of the worst writers alive. ...
George R.R. Martin- Don't know what the biggest train wreck ever is but his books are the fantasy genre's version of it.

After trying those, re-reading The Chronicles again was like breathing again after being depraved of air for a few minutes. I'm going to try a few more new writer's before I just admit Krynn is the be all & end all of fantasy.

When it comes to fast-paced action, real 3-dimensional characters & straight ahead fantasy, Dragonlance destroys all others.

Summary: Directions on Reading this Trilogy
Review: Before starting to read this trilogy, brew a cup of tea, sit back on a comfortable chair with a pillow, and have adequate lighting. Disconnect telephones and turn off cellphones. If there is a timepiece within viewing distance from your reading spot, turn them the other way around. Warning: May cause readers to lose all concept of time.

The first time you read it, you truely will be taken to the world of Krynn and stay there for quite some time. The Chronicles trilogy was the first set of fantasy books I ever read. Weis and Hickman got me hooked right from the beginning! Now, after nearly a decade since I last read this trilogy, they've managed to hold me in their spell again. I've missed reading them and would recommend both vetrans and novices of the DragonLance novels to (re)read the Chronicles trilogy. You'll grow to love and hate the characters - but what sets them apart, is that you also share the same emotions that the characters are feeling. Truely, only master writers of literature are able to envoke such a response in their readers, and we have two, Weis and Hickman, to thank for that. Sit back, relax, and let the world of Krynn open before you!

Summary: AMAZING TRILOGY!!!
Review: Definitely a great fantasy epic and one of my personal favorites, The Chronicles Trilogy- Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning, brings to life the ultimate battle between Good and Evil in the World of Krynn. The books are so incredibly well written that the reader feels that they have been transported to another plane of existence and are actually present among the characters, seeing what they see, feeling what they feel, sensing what they sense. The authors Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman have truly outdone themselves and have presented us with a masterpiece of literature the likes of which we have seen only in JRR Tolkien's work and RA Salvatore's The Dark Elf and Icewind Dale trilogies. Duty, honor, bravery, magic, dragons and heroes are all about. A great trilogy indeed!

Summary: Amazing
Review: DL Chronicles ranks up there with Lord of the Rings as being one of the best books I have ever read. I have read Jordan(whose books are extremely overrated), Terry Brooks, and many other fantasy authors, but DL Chronicles beats all of them out. I definitely reccommend these books for anyone who likes fantasy, you will never find yourself more enticed.

Summary: Dragonlance Chronicles - An exceptional fantasy classic!
Review: Dragonlance Chronicles is simply stated, one of the finest fantasy trilogies ever written. As an inaugural set of novels for these two fine authors; Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman set the standard in fantasy writing in the late eighties through today. I first read this trilogy in 1987 and was astounded by its complexity of characters and the breadth of the tale; it is truly epic in proportion. I can only imagine the agony readers might've have gone through if they were reading these fine novels, as they were being released over several months. That is certainly not a problem today, as you can purchase this outstanding trilogy in one set.

You will quickly discover that the characters are highly compelling and well detailed. These two authors have woven a wonderful tapestry in these characters; you will find yourself as elated as they are in their collective victories and as heartbroken in their setbacks.

Contained within these pages are Dragonlances core characters that are quite memorable, well after you've finished this fine trilogy and as history as proven, will inspire several Dragonlance novels to follow.

Tanis Half-Elven - Who is the leader of the companions. He is torn between his love for two women.

Sturm Brightblade - Knight of Solamnia. Squire and Knight whose mission in life is to bring honor back to this stoic group of knights.

Goldmoon - Chieftan's Daughter of the Barbarian Plainsmen. Along with Riverwind, her tribal outcast lover and husband, who are both on a quest for truth.

Riverwind - Lover and later husband of Goldmoon, whose sole mission in life is to guard Goldmoon.

Raistlin - Simply stated, the most alluring character of the whole Dragonlance series. He is a Mage of astounding power and brother of Caramon. The reader will quickly find themselves asking as to which side, good or evil, Raistlin is aspiring to.

Caramon - A rather large fighter and he feels that it is his sole mission in life to protect his seemingly ungrateful brother, Raistlin.

Flint Fireforge - He is a Hill Dwarf who is in his later years. He has been friend to Tanis for quite some time and an adventurer with the other prime characters as well. This character plays quite well at times in the comedic role of stodgy old curmudgeon who is also quite protective over the companions.

Tasslehoff Burfoot - Tas, as he's referred to most of the time, is a Kender. Kender are considered to be a nuisance on Krynn, as they are immune to fear and consequently, trouble seems to follow them everywhere. Simply put, Tas is the most lovable character among the group, as his high spirits and his antics carry the story along quite well.

These characters come back together just as the Queen of Darkness is beginning her play to bring evil and darkness down upon the magical world of Krynn. You will find yourself amiably rambling along with these characters in their adventures to bring an end to this threat.

The cover art for these re-released novels is quite exceptional as well. I highly recommend this trilogy to those who've read it before and to any and all newcomers who are interested in a highly suspenseful tale, inhabited by some of the fantasy genres best characters. {ssintrepid}

Summary: Read this series no more then 5 times
Review: I grew up with these books. I read them as a young one, through high school, college, and I just read them again at the age of 32. This trilogy and the one that followed are legendary in my opinion. It does follow a similar plot to LOTR however I connected with these books and its character a lot more then the rambling LOTR. To this day, in D&D realms, people still name their character "Raislin", "Tanis" and "Sturm". These books are LEGENDS to the D&D community. The connection you will gain from the characters of these books will stay with you for years. It is always a pleasure to return to Solstice! Don't let Tasslehoff get close to your bags, your purse may have accidentally appeared in his bags... after you dropped it of course, he was just holding it for you and forgot to tell you. I have a best friend (40 years old) who named his daughter Raistlin after these books.. they are that good.

Summary: I'm so glad I started this series
Review: I have not been a novel reader for very long. It may seem funny, but I started my novel reading off with the Harry Potter books. I read the first one, and just couldn't put them down. I have since gone through all of the "Sword of Truth" books by Terry Goodkind, a number of books all fiction, but some not fantasy, and several more VERY large fantasy trilogy books that I could barely finish but forced myself to do so (accept for one). Now I am reading the Dragonlance series. Just finished the first trilogy, and am now into the Legends group. I LOVE them !!! These authors are wonderful writers. I feel as if I know the characters personally, and am with them on their travels experiencing their adventures, elation's, laughter, danger, sorrow and well...just all of it. Not only is their writing well delivered with wonderfully descriptive qualities, but it is humorous as well. I have laughed out loud many times. I have a couple favorite characters, but really love them all. I'm glad it's a larger series as I want this experience to go on. These are just the best books. I highly recommend them. Do read them in the order they were written (this is the first group) You don't want to miss anything !!!
