Rating: Summary: Exxxxxxccccccellllllllent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The Making of the Movie Trilogy is a great glimpse of just how much though, time, work, and energy went into this wonderful movie trilogy. I own it and love it. The only thing I warn buyers of is that it does not cover much of how "The Return of the King", the third and final "Lord of the Rings" film, was made because the book came out before the third film. Therefore, they didn't want to spoil too much for the final film. I'm sure there will probably be more in-depth books just like this one after all the films are released. Make your decision. I bought it because I couldn't wait!

Rating: Summary: Insulting Fluff Review: There's no real history of the making of the films here, probably because writing that would have required the ability to do some actual research and to write chronological narrative, things that are evidently beyond Sibley's capabilities or his interest. Sibley's previous experience as a journalist appears to have been writing reviews of Britney Spears concerts for Seventeen Magazine; his style consists of gushing and using lots! of! exclamation! points! Some of the photographs are interesting, but at least 80% of them are not referenced in the text, and almost none are captioned. Sibley also wrote "The Lord of the Rings Official Movie Guide;" on the basis of this book, I'd recommend avoiding that one as well.
Rating: Summary: one ring to direct it all Review: This book behind the scenes of lord of the rings triology is amazing. It goes into every detail of the movie from Gandalf's robe to making of the ring. It includes over 200 pages and 300 images of the movie. It is a very interesting book, highly recommended!!!!
Rating: Summary: Very enlightening Review: This book covers all the bases, from actors and locations, directors and technicians, and production to music composition. Not only does Brian Sibley expertly tell the story of the making of the Lord of the Rings, but he does also does an excellent job of letting you in on some of the secrets that you know that you wanted to know but were content watching them fly past you on the screen. This book does not leave one leaf unturned, or one prosthetic hobbit foot untravelled.
Rating: Summary: this book is very interesting Review: This book has so much information about how they made the movies. So much behind the scenes stuff.I love it!
Rating: Summary: technical backdrop Review: This book is a must have for people who are interested in the technical aspects of the LOTR movies. It delves into the different departments and talks about the processes and jobs of each. It also has great interview quotes and some fantastic pictures I hadn't seen anywhere else (and I've seen A LOT of pictures). The only reason I didn't give this book five stars was because some of the information can be found on the extras of the extended dvds of each film, but the amount of new information still makes this book interesting and fun to read.
Rating: Summary: A must have for any true LOTR fan Review: This book is absolutely fascinating, explaining the detail and thought that went into making an epic of this proportion. I would have never considered all the minute details they so painstakingly devoted their lives to over the years of the pre-production and principle production period of the LOTR. Every detail from designing the perfect Gandalf hat to finding ingenious ways to protect ancient moss in a particular location to makeup for horses (yes, even horses need makeup!) is explored. Plus much, much more. The book is as easy as it is enjoyable to read. It is like reading a magazine article on each topic they covered. Concise and too the point, but with plenty of information. If you can only buy one LOTR book, make this the one. While the others are good, most of the information in them has also been presented in various documentaries or other media. You'll find surprises in this one!
Rating: Summary: oh my god Review: This book is full of breathtaking pictures of the scenery in lord of the rings: two towers. It also has excellent picuters of the characters. Its discriptions of the scenes are wonderful, but it gives away some scenes that will be in the uncut version.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating! Review: This book shows you the work that went on behind the scenes to make the movies, and allows you to meet the brave people that went through hell to do it! Never could I have imagined that the minute details of clothing, hair, weapons, scenery, props and so on could be so interesting, let alone so dangerous. I feel the pain of those who had to go through the production mishaps described in this book, and it makes me appreciate their worka nd the movies even more!
