Summary: An Alright Guide For A Great Game
Review: Although FFA was superbly done, this guide leaves...something to be desired. There wasn't much space devoted to character stats, and the mpas could have been presented in a better way. Overall, though, this guide will get you thourgh FFA, without giving away ALL of the plot, and giving you many of the secrets needed for mini-games, etc. A must buy for a FF fan, but not for many other people.

Review: Considering that this book is an 'official' guide to the game: Final Fantasy Anthology (US version), it lacks many of the basic necessities needed for a good and useful game walkthrough...
First of all, the FFV section of this book is downright ludicrous!
*The maps are incomplete, and fairly useless when you get into the game, as the mapping becomes more complex.
*The Bestiary is incomplete, and this is displayed throughout the game: battling monsters that aren't listed in the area.
*There is no World Map, and considering that the World Map in the FFV game is tiny, a large world map could have been helpful.
*The Boss Battles aren't explained very well at all. There are no HP statistics, and what statistics there are on the boss, there is a frequent occurrence of 'N/A' beside it. The author's simple banter doesn't help matters. The only good comment I can make out is that the guide gives you a suggested level in which to defeat the Boss, however, even then the levels are usually wrong, and the Bosses beat you regardless!
*Also, I've noticed that parts of the walkthrough are missed out when telling you where to go and what to do. Some parts, you have to fill in yourself.
*The design of both FFV and VI sections is quite boring. It doesn't appeal to the eye, and has no aesthetical sense whatsoever

The FFVI section is a slight improvement, however...
*No World Map
*Limited explanation of Bosses...
*However, the Bestiary is intact, and the bad points of the FFV section aren't that amplified in the FFVI section... Not really much more to comment on...

All in all? I wouldn't buy this with a gun to my head... however this guide DOES explain a lot of secrets, so I would recommend this to those who have played the game before, and wish to play it again thoroughly...
For those just beginning... I recommend you search elsewhere!

Summary: Not much help
Review: I found the guide to FF5 superficial at best. There is info on characters' abilities and stats. The guide doesn't tell you where to find weapons/items/magic and doesn't give you a good world map. You can find all the info you need on the internet. Don't waste your money.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: FFV section is really bad but FFVI is more than good enough
Review: I think the main downfall of this guide is the FFV section, which I believe could've been so much better done than what we got. However, the FFVI section was helpful and manages to get this guide 4 stars.

The FFV section had tons of problems. They didn't have maps for every area which could've helped in some places, and when they did have maps, they were mostly screenshots. They didn't show which place lead to which room, making you scan the maps to see if you were in the correct area.

The boss strategies are very stupid and don't give you any strategy. The suggested levels are either too high to level up to, or are too low that you wonder why you wasted your time getting that boss level.

The FFV section covers NO secrets to the game; however, they did a good job of covering the job system and were even able to tell me what I'd learn by gaining the levels.

The Bestiary for FFV is HORRIBLE! Some of the stats are off, and the EXP. is that you get if only one character defeats the enemy. Since EXP is divided the only thing you can use is the HP listing, but most of the enemies you need are not listed in the bestiary. While I don't care about there being no pictures most people do and I'm warning them now that there are no pictures in the bestiary.

Now for the FFVI portion. The section is much better organized with very detailed maps and locations of items, weapons, etc. The bestiary is actually complete but still no pictures if you like to see what they look like.

The FFVI section provides you with tons of items listings, along with weapons and armor, telling you who can equip what. The walkthrough is much better than the FFV section and the FFVI section gives you coverage of your Espers, spells, and much more.

FFVI section also provides you with a ton of secrets! If your stuck in leveling up it gives you a nice little level up trick, and later tells you where to go to fight monsters that give off great EXP.

OVERALL: I gave the guide 4 stars because with how the FFVI section was put together it actually HELPED me out, where as the FFV section was nothing but a walkthrough.

Summary: It'll get you through
Review: I'm an absolute FF6 fanatic so I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't more space devoted to character stats, lists or town information (for either game). For FFV it'll certainly get you through the game if you're stuck, but the maps could've been better and I found quite a few things not mentioned in the book (which could be a good thing). However, if you're as stuck as I was at that point, any help is greatly appreciated! As for FF6, I thought the information was rather skimpy and bare bones, but if you're new to the game it'll help you out. If you're searching for a better guide for FF6 I'd suggest searching around for the Nintendo Power FFIII player's guide, which I have found to be the best for the game. Nice quality guide altogether.

Summary: It spends to much time explaining the easy stuff.
Review: If found this guide very superficial. It's amazing that in Japan they have about 400 pages doveted to FFV alone while we get about 240 superficial pages for both 5 and 6. This book answers all the easy questions but is vague on many things that it should give more detail for. The beasitary is terrible for FFV. But what are you gonna do? This is the only guide available

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: It is in this book
Review: If you want all the secrets, spells, hidden areas reaveled, and side quest info. It is in this book. The only thing missing is a world map showing the town names(no big loss), does not spoil the storyline. If you need to find every item it is listed and categorized. exellent.
