Summary: Strategy guide....? Where?
Review: Well, let me begin by saying that this so-called "strategy guide", is a complete shame to anything and everything involving Final Fantasy. It is one big promotion to Playonline.com, and, by the way, the site is confusing, and you have to submit your personnal information for God knows what...anyway, in this "guide," no tips, secrets, or anything usually found in a strategy guide (such as the one for Final Fantasy VII) are revealed, and the boss strategies are horrible...no location of key items, no help with the Chocobo Hot and Cold game, and, to my horror, every couple of lines, when you are expecting some big secret, the good old folks at the diminishing Squaresoft pitch you another, annoying, and stupid hint to find at Playonline, completely rubbing in the fact that you wasted the (Money) on the "guide," and that without Internet access, you are completely in big trouble. So, I beg of you, anyone who may be reading this...skip the guide, skip Playonline, and go to another site to get a good strategy guide for Final Fantasy IX...and, by the way, I am thinking of skipping any new Final Fantasies, because at the rate Squaresoft is going, they will ruin any new games, and will still be using these horrible guides when Final Fantasy 27 rolls around...

Review: Buying this book is just like buying advertising. Every section of the book contains a special code that allows you to access the information you want online. The book is mediocre at best and is just an example of a marketing expiriment gone horribly awry.

Review: Everything you would expect from a stradegy guide isn't in this garbage of a book. A very limited walkthrough, No Boss stragies, No hidden item lists. It only gives you limited tips on how to complete the game. Most of the time it tells you to go online to get more info on a tip, so you spend more time online then playing. Ive made the mistake of buying this horrible guide, Please No One Else Make That Mistake!I recomend Online Walkthroughs/FAQs or an UnOffical Stradegy Guide.

Review: This guide is by far the worst guide I have ever purchased. It doesn't help you what so ever, jeez, the instruction booklet helps you more than this thing. The boss stratigies have only like 2 hints, and half the time, those 2 hints are obvious when you fight the boss, and don't help you at all. Example: on one of the first fights, it sais Vivi cast fire on the boss every turn, now I don't know about you, but that's not a hint, it doesn't help you, it's just stating what happens. But, this is the good part, you can go on the internet and find pretty much THE WHOLE GUIDE (yay!) and all the stuff that should be IN THE GUIDE, and not on a webpage. Another example: the guide tells you all the stats and what not for everyone's weapons, but it doesn't tell you the location, BUT, you can go online and see where they are, seeing how EVERYONE has access to the internet (luckily I do, but I can't even get to the site!). I've seen a lot of Bradygames's guides, and the others are all pretty useful, but this one is by far the worst. My advise would be not to bother with this so called "guide". Remember, the instruction booklet helps you more than this thing. Trust me on that one.

Review: This strategy guide leaves a lot to be desired. If you are a clueless gamer it can be quite helpful. You really need some sort of Internet connection for this guide to be of any GOOD value. It can be very vague in areas and the fact that almost ALL OF THE GOOD INFO is online makes it loose a lot of points. But it will help you get from area to area, and allows you to pick up secret characters that you might not find otherwise. It's your decision. Do you need it? Or not?

This is just another example of how the final fantasy series is going down the tubes...fast!The only small reason to get this guide is if you're a collector and manage to find one of the first few ones published with the slightly diffrent cover(it might be slightly valubale)Otherwise,pass up this guide!...

Review: With a version that doesn't refer you to the web page 1000 times. Not all of us have internet access where the TV is. I think they lameness of this guide ruined the game for me. Or maybe it was because the target audience of the game was non-adults. Oh well the Final Fantasy series is over once it goes online anyway. Some of us have connections that are too poor to play online games. Biggest mistake they ever made.

Review: To be honest, this strategy guide, if you want to call it that, is almost worse than useless. Actually I ended up passing more up in the game because of it rather than having it helping me.
Here's the bottom line: the guide is incomplete. From what I can tell, Squaresoft wanted it that way so you would have to go to Playonline to get the REAL info that you need. I can understand that they want to promote their site, but I think that making their guide worthless is not the right way to do it. I'm just thankful I got the guide as a gift and did not waste my own money on it. Whatever you do , don't get the guide. For that matter I wouldn't reccomend FFIX as a whole. I've played every Final Fantasy except 2 and 3 and IX is by far the worst in my opinion. In a way though, I think it is somewhat fitting to have such a poor guide to go with such a poor game.

Review: What is the point of getting a guide if you have to keep referring to a website for the information you need? I am in training for the Army and I only get a small amount of internet time so getting the guide is completely useless for me. Hopefully, the makers of this guide will abandon this idea and get back to what they were doing before.

Review: The ONLY thing it helps out with is the storyline, and if you need help getting through the basic storyline, you shouldn't be playing it. I do not like using a players guide for getting through the game, just for the fact they usually spoil the surprises, I use players guides for the secrets! And this book doesn't have em. I ended up not using it at all... It does have good pictures though.....
