Summary: Somewhat detailed, no maps, some spoilers
Review: I'll tell you one thing, at least it doesn't have as much errors as the FF8 official guide does! ;) Anyway, this is a decent book, yet it has some spoilers, and a lack of maps really lets it down. Although, they do have detailed information on sidequests, deathblows, abilities, statistics, and all, which is plus for the book. If they had maps, kinda like the ones from FF7, I'd probably give this 4 stars instead. A lot of spots in the book confused me to the point where I stopped reading it. I stopped reading it in the middle of Disc 2, and found most everything else on my own. There was too much "Go southwest, wait at your position for 55 seconds, push the boulder, run to the east, jump up the left stones, wait for the soldier to arrive, activate the alarm, and prepare to go to the second floor." The recommended levels they stated for each area was obosolete...like, in one area, it said the recommended level was 40, and I was, at, like, 67, unintentionally! They should've raised the stakes more. ^_~ ANOTHER letdown is that they show what happens in the ending! Major spoiler!

Summary: It isn't the worst at least
Review: I'm probably the only one here who is going write a review bashing on this guide for it's quality. I don't mind the plot spoilers in the guide because...well it's a guide. Every guide has spoilers (and yes I actually DID get my hands on an FFVII guide by VERSUS BOOKS so don't tell me "well you should see THAT guide" I KNOW, but even that one had a few spoilers...just not plot spoilers).

A guide is meant to do just that guide you. The reason I gave it a three was because the guide misses a lot of secrets, the bestiary lacks and there are no maps in the walkthrough.

Let me start off by saying this, at least we can all agree on this, Maps are ESSENTIAL to a strategy guide and ESPECIALLY RPG guides. That goes without saying and for that I couldn't let the guide come within a mile of five stars. Second, a guide should NEVER spoil the ending. Plot I'm okay with but the ending is the whole reason you play a game in the first place. Sure it's no fun when you know the plot but if you know how the game ends then that just plain stinks! So I don't mind the plot spoilers but the fact of the ending being spoiled really made me mad.

The walkthrough is dim too. The screens are blurry and out of context and the content that the guide contains is not always clear. The directions they give you in dungeons are only going to help you in getting lost. The bestiary doesn't detail a monsters weakness instead the only good thing we really get is how much HP they have.

So in short, the guide isn't the best buy for you. It has a complete walkthrough and it actually isn't all that bad. Boss strategies are nice and you get the general idea of what they're telling you to do. But again, I didn't give this guide a considerably low score for the plot spoilers. I never actually even read the plot spoilers since I was using the guide as a reference book and not a magazine.

Review: IF you beated the game its a good book

Summary: Come on! You really need a cheat book to beat Xenogears??
Review: If you have to buy this book(why????) then I would like to say this: If you use this book it will keep Xenogears from being the masterpiece that it shoudave been. This books rips chunks out of the story left and right and really destroys it. Luckily enough I saw this book(courtesy of a friend)after I beat the game so it was no big deal for me. If you really stink at RPG's(which leads me to the question Why did you buy Xenogears?)or you are one of those people that doesn't care and just wants to see the ending then by all means spend your hard earned money on this title. Or if you are set on buying this cheat book well then atleast wait till you beat the game without it.

Summary: xenogears review
Review: it's a good guide just needs maps and they could do a little better in the monster section (ex. put weaknesses and where you fight them) other than that they spoil the game for you and that's the only bad things about it

Summary: It Could Have Been Better
Review: Let's Get A Few Things Straight:

1. Xenogears relies heavily on the plot of the game.

2. Xenogears is not fun if you know the plot ahead of time.

3. This book gives away the plot.

In other words, buy this book only if you REALLY need help. It's a waste of time and money.

Review: ok lets get a few things straight, look so it spoils the plot, for those people who complain about that SHUT UP! You are one to talk, I know it! Next is as another reviewer said the guide is supposed to HELP you get through the game. In other words you use the guide as you go through the game not before hand. Thats why you people complain about it spoiling the plot and so you must have read the whole walkthrough first. How you use the guide is you DON'T read the walkthrough first. See first I was wrong, ok it spoils the ending for SOME of you. If you used while you were going through the game without reading the walkthrough first then the ending will not be spoiled. That goes for the plot as well. Next about spoiling the plot, I think in some guides its a good thing, call me crazy if you wish but thats what you think of me. If a guide spoils the plot, it can be a good thing because, say you come across the plot in the game and you don't understand it. Well, if you have a guide use it! In other words the point of guides is to use them when you need help or get stuck! NOT to use at every moment you get, you only use them for help. Maps, well I can understand that for when you get lost so I won't say anything there. Other then that I'm tired of hearing all the complaints about the plot being spoiled or the ending being spoiled so as far as I can see you can all do what you like and keep using that guide the way it isn't supposed to be used or you can use the way its supposed to be used and only use it for help, but some of you are just too obsessed with VERSUS BOOKS

Summary: Alright ....Lets straighten out a few things...~_~
Review: Okie, for one you buy a strategy guide to HELP you get through certain parts correct? Correct. Most times you read part of it it helps you get through the rest ye don have to read the WHOLE DARNED thing. Maps? Maps....Okay ya those are pretty helpful but then I'm the type that stumbles through things like a blind ox in a china shoppe ^_^;;;; I know some things in here are spoiling most of the game and the gameing expirance, but hey atleast you know what to expect, I guess *blinks* But honestly, Sometimes you have to spoil the story to help others get through the game to help them out I guess. I liked it personally And I could and always can go through by myself without a strategy guide but sometimes I *DO* get stuck ...hehe... So what else is to do then buy a strategy guide correct? heh welp gotta go Later!
