Summary: Not worth the money.
Review: While this book clarified things and helped the Jedi become more like the movies it left out all the Episode 1 character stats. It also did little for equipment, vehicles, starships and Droids. Furthermore, it left me knowing that there was going to be another revised edition after the next movie. Why buy it now if I will need another book in a year?

Summary: Good book, great game.
Review: If you are a GM or DM depending on the rpg. This book is higly recommended. If you are like me and want to learn to run your own game this book is highly recommended. A great easy to understand book I had it read in 2 days. I had also been playing the game for quite sometime, and I just wanted to learn more so I bought it and here I am giving it 5 stars...

Summary: Great game system revised
Review: I was highly impressed when the original D20 Star Wars game was released. Even with a book full of typographical errors, the rules worked much better than I had expected. The revised rules are lightyears ahead of the original D20 rules... overall, a much better product. I higly recommend this book for anyone who likes Star Wars

Summary: It just doesn't fit
Review: Star Wars: RPG illustrates the problem with the d20 concept: one-size-fits-all just doesn't work in gaming. Space Opera is fast, furious, and exciting. Playing out Star Wars style combat with the clunky feat system is just the opposite: tedium. Find a copy of the WEG book - it'll cost you a fraction as much and provide much more entertainment. If you want more "realism", then try GURPS:Space, it's much more adaptable.

The book DOES look nice, I'll give it that much.

Summary: Mixed Feelings
Review: As a gamer who purchased the original edition of this book not two years ago, I was somewhat annoyed at the re-release of the Star Wars roleplaying game. I found it somewhat unfair to require the established players to purchase what seemed to amount to a rules tweak and episode II reference.

That being said, I was somewhat pleased with the results of the rules tweaks. The character classes now have more of a Star Wars feel... something that was sorely missing from the initial print. The addition of the Tech Specialist class rounds out the character classes a bit more thoroughly, and the conversion of Jedi Master to a prestige class made a lot of sense. On the down side, the book reprints material found in supplemental books.. making me wonder if the purchase of supplements is, in fact, necessary.

As far as the episode II updates.. I must say that I was disappointed. While there -are- entries on the newer characters and there are some vehicles covers, the book lacks meat. WotC would have been better off printing an Episode II sourcebook.

All in all? It's worth purchasing, if you can get it for less than list. Otherwise... wait for the inevitable episode III revision.

Summary: A Good Game
Review: Before I start my actual review, I'd like to point out one thing to all the pro WEG and WoTC poo-poo-ers: Star Wars RPG sits low on the totem-poll of WoTC's (and Lucasfilm's) support. Star Wars RPG has never been (and probably will never be) WoTC's main cash cow. That place is reserved for D&D, Pokemon and MTG. Considering that the game designers have so little to work with, they have done a great job.

That said, I'd like to mention what I do like about the game: VP/WP system, the classes (except for the Fringer), the Force powers.

Besides the problem with starship combat (supplement, please), what I don't like is how lame the Dark Side is. I mean, c'mon, where's the fun of playing the next Sith Lord? The Dark Side should be menacing and tempting, but's its hardly either. Sigh.

Summary: Flawed.
Review: I owned this game until recently, and found it acceptable, if not as interesting and well put together as the old West End Games system. While the integration with the D20 system made the indoctrination of new players easy, there was something of a weak, unbalanced, very un-star wars flavor about this edition. I was very surprised and disappointed with the lack of detail put into the Star Wars world. What this book contained as far as the universe is concerned could easily be extrapolated with a little gaming knowledge and some common sense. All in all, this edition of the book felt rushed and and incomplete, and didn't capture the feel of the Star Wars universe nearly as well as the old West End Games version.

To be fair, the newer publication corrects some of these errors, and would receive a higher rating, though it is far too expensive for what amounts to a rules tweak and movie update.

I would not recommend that anyone buy this older version, as the newer version covers the world better and is only five dollars extra. In truth, waiting until the next and last movie comes out is probably the better plan, if you're a casual player.

This is in reference to the 2000 publication.

Summary: Excellent improvements.
Review: It is amazing how Wizards of the Coast has improved the RPG, especially the StarFighter and Vehicle Combat rules. They work much better than the old "abstract" system. And if you don't have the old Core Rulebook, this has all the rules you need that that one had in it, so don't buy the old one, and get this one. The Player Classes also had some improvements made to them, except I feel like the Fringer kinda bit the dust. Other than that, an Excelent book and very fun to read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great Update; Worth the Re-investment
Review: This is a great update of the original rules, expanded both for Episode II, and also for all the suggestions Wizards of the Coast received for revamping the game. One minor odd thing is that some of the character and creature descriptions differ slightly from the ones in other sources, like the DK Visual Dictionaries. But all in all worth the investment if you enjoy the game.

Summary: A perfect guide for the Star Wars Role Player...
Review: I purchased this book expecting grand things and I was given my expections and 1000 fold! This book contains so many adventures and sagas it is amazing! Be a Jedi, Sith, Noble, Scoundrel, and many more classes not to mention the Prestige classes such as Jedi Master and Jedi Ace. It takes very little time to learn and can easily be begun on the first day of buying it. If you have played the new D&D system then you can start all that much more quickly! If you dare call yourself a true Star Wars fan, spend the time to play this game, you WON'T be disappointed.
