Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Black Magic
Review: Black Magic is Masamune Shirow's first work. While it does not have the most solid plot and the visuals are not quite on par with Shirow's more recent work, fans will probably enjoy it despite its faults. As an added bonus there is a never-before-published diagram of the Marionette-66 robot included at the end of the book. While probably not for newcomers, Black Magic is a great addition to any Masamune Shirow fan's library.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must for Masamune Shirow Fans!
Review: One of Masamune's early works. Black Magic seems to be Shirow's prototype for developing the world of Appleseed. Appleseed fans will probably notice some parallels/links/continuations in this book.

As an early work, the art is very similar to the first Appleseed book in that there is less detailed art work that appear in his later works (most significant of which is his latest Ghost in the Shell).
