Review: "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" is a parody of the popular, and very interesting, "Magical Girl genre". "Magical Girl" anime's mostly revolve around, can you guess, Magical girls. These girls tend to look like an average girl, but when an evil force is about to strike, these girls transform into a more powerful form, one that grants them magical powers and a very short skirt. Some examples are "Iczelion" or the highly popular " Sailor Moon". As alreadly stated, "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" is a parody of the "Magical Girl" genre. In fact, it is so obvious of its genre that one not familar with the defintion of this genre is almost guarrenteed to notice the striking simularity between "Sailor Moon" and "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy". But really, how good a job "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" does of poking fun at "Sailor Moon"? Read the following paragraphs to find out. The title is for this Manga is fairly misleading. True, The Manga contains "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy", but also two other stories, " Wolf at the door" and "The way we were". Each story is two parts long. In " Wolf at the door", The entire Techi muyo! cast decides to go for a picnic. While Ryoko and Ayeka are fighting over Techi, Sasami and Ryo-oh-ki seperate from the group and go and explore. While exploring, Sasami comes to the aid of the injured wolf. Its no suprise that the wolf turns out to be kind and gentle to Sasami. In "The way we were", A childhood friend of Tenchi's named Hiwa Takihashi arrives at Tenchi's door one day and claims he promised to marry her. As it turns out, Hiwa has a depressing secret. This looks like work for a super-Genius, Preferably Wasu. But can Wasu save Hiwa? Or will Hiwa meet her doom. In "Magical girl pretty Sammy" Tsunami grants Sasami magical powers so she can battle Tsunami's evil rival, and protect the land of Jurihelm. Sasami hasteilly acceps the powers, but regrets it when she is forced to face off with her best friend and her imprisioned brother. The plot for this manga is..well.... very simplistic. Mostly just mindless fighting over Tenchi. The plot are at times quite predicable. Sadly,"Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" also lacks the huge amount of charm that the OAV offers. As usual, the driving point for " Tenchi muyo" is its characters, which seem to give off far less than their anime counterparts. Another drawback is the artwork. It is detailed, with pretty backgrounds. But the characters designs don't hold true to the OAV or TV series of Tenchi, and resemble the manga version of "Pokemon" more than "Tenchi Muyo", just much more detailed. If you are looking for A charming comedy classic Manga with good artwork, " Oh my Goddess" would be a good bet. But if you want a solid Manga with "tenchi muyo" characters that does that a decent job poking fun at the "Magical girl" engine, "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" is a good bet, just dont expect to much.

Review: For those of you who don't know who Tenchi is,You should start getting the scoop!This book may not be the first one, but it starts off a great three tales told on Earth.One of a poor wolf,another of a young love, and last the Magical Girl Pretty Sammy! Fans of Sasami will want to read this book,for it's practiclly all of that little Jurien Princess.I think it's a good book for drawing off of as well to freashin up on those "drawing Tenchi" skills! Anyway, I enjoyed it and for anyone who likes Tenchi, I think they will too!

Review: I love Tenchi Muyo, but Sasami just pisses me off. It didn't help that the story was mostly about her either. Next thing you know they'll have novels on Mihoshi! *CRINGE*

Review: I REALLY love this book, but I have to admit, this is definatly for older kids. There is profanity when something bad happens, and some nudity. If you LOVE LOVE LOVE the series and adore comics, buy this. You'll love it!

If you like the other tenchi books, or just Sasami, you will LOVE this one. The experiences in MGPS range from meeting a ghost to Sasami's school play, and so much more. If you want to learn more about the plot, i suggest buying it--I don't want to give too much away! I have always known Tenchi to have great, funny, and touching stories that never let you get bored. Worth reading many times, Magical Girl Pretty Sammy would probably be my favorite No Need For Tenchi book. I reccomend this to readers of any age. Buy it now! IT's a must read!

Summary: Mahou Shoujo Puritei Sami-
Review: It starts as a Tenchi Muyo! story, a couple of tough ones and for a little diversion Hitoshi Okuda trys his hand at Pretty Samy. It's a good little story with a seemingly impossible ending.But that is what Magical Girl stories are all about.

This manga was published in Japan around the 1st of Sept.1995.Around the time of the last episodes of the Tenchi Muyo! OVA 2,Tenchi Muyo! TV (Tenchi Universe) and the time when they were making the Pretty Sammy OVA and thinking about the TV series.(Here in the US, Pioneer named it Magical Project S.)
The first story is about SASAMI saving a wolf, then it gets interesting.(Kind of reminds me of the new story by CLAMP Shirahime-Shyo.) The next story is about an old love of Tenchi's and the power of Tsunami among other things. (Her name translates into "famous harbor of enchantment,more or less. The tidal-wave Tsunami has diferent Kanji.)
By the time you get done with the first two stories you need something lighter.
This is a pretty (no pun) good book. I have both versions (US & Japan) VIZ did an ok job of flipping and translating the manga. Some time they can do a really (...) job. Ranma 1/2 #1, it looks terrible.)THis time it worked.

Review: This book is wonderful, with a rating of 4 stars. Its so funny with Pretty Sammy and the Tenchi gang. Its so funny when Tenchi finds out that Sasami is really Pretty Sammy.
