Rating: Summary: Its a shame the Star Wars Universe is stuck with this one. Review: I have to agree with some of the other reviews on this series. The whole Dark Empire thing absolutely stunk. Cam Kennedy's (bad) idea of setting up one overall color scheme for each frame made everything look exceedingly poor. Also, the man simply can't draw Star Wars characters for squat. As for Veitch's plot: what the heck? Oh....a new Emperor who simply appears and, in less than a year, constructs one super weapon and two, count em, two Eclipse class SSDs. When an original SSD would have taken YEARS to build during the height of the Empire? Yeah....sure. And the story: "oh the hopelessness!....". <---Wasn't that every page? Oh look, new super weapon, new emperor who can magically create Dark Jedi (yeah right), and while were at it, let's destroy the New Republic, Coruscant, Mon Calamari, and have Luke discover WAY to many really poorly developed (actually stupid) Jedi characters. I'm just getting into the Academy trilogy and, thank god, Anderson hasn't yet disappointed me by bringing in some of these moronic characters. Overall this series simply doesn't keep with Star Wars' feel and certainly doesn't fit well into the universe. Sorry Veitch and Kennedy but the plot blew and the art sucked. I'm glad someone else did Crimson Empire, which is, in comparison, quite a bit better. I guess we'll see about the Sith books. (Despite all that, kudos to Dave Dorman for the great cover art!)
Rating: Summary: Final Fantasy Meets Emperror Palpetine!!!!! Review: I like this book. I like it because it's cool. I like all the sound effects that this book has such as lazer fire, Light Saber sounds, and finaly the walker sounds. This is the book in which I meet the emperror, and stand with him face to face. I highly recommend this audio book.
Rating: Summary: pretty good Review: I liked it-I have read DE1 and I thought It showed more of places I liked in the first one:Nar Shaddaa and Byss. However, It is getting kind of annoying how the Emperor keeps making superweapons-I mean th World Devestators in DE#1, but the galaxy gun? Also, they should kill the Emperor once and for all. His reccurrent cloning: BORING!!! (snores) Vietch needs to end this now!
Rating: Summary: He should have stopped while he was ahead. Review: Ick. As good as Dark Empire 1 was as far as characterizations, plot, and pacing, this destroys it. Most of it seems to be a rehash of the original story, and the new elements introduced seem trite and contrived. The Emperor is back AGAIN, with a NEW superweapon to threaten our heroes. Whoopty-do. Nar Shadda (the Smuggler's Moon) is revisited, as is Byss, the Dark Side homeworld. New characters are introduced, but they seem needlessly rediculous. It is obvious that Veitch rushed this to cash in on the success of Dark Empire 1, unfortunately. It in no way lives up to its predecessor. Further, Cam Kennedy's artwork grows tiresome quickly, especially if you've already read DE1. Probably the only plus are the covers drawn by Dave Dorman, which are showcased in the back. He, at least, is able to capture the essence of Star Wars, although even they aren't as good as the DE1 covers. This is another one of those that you really shouldn't bother with unless you HAVE to own every Star Wars stor
Rating: Summary: This is a great sequel with more characters and events! Review: In this grand Star Wars novel Boba Fett and the emperor return to stop the famous SW heroes. Luke Skywalker finds students to train, therefore becoming a true Jedi master, while Han and Leia have their third child. This is a graphic novel no Star Wars fan should be without!
Rating: Summary: Ewwwwww Review: It is just a shame. I was one of those poor saps that actually liked Dark Empire. Therefore, I was rather looking forward to the sequel. It is soo bad. Want to know why?Usually, SW authors have some basis for the names they come up with. But when Han says something about a flesh-eating vlrbrth, I think that is about what it said, I just go the picturer of an author hitting the keyboard and taking what he got. The Dark Side adepts made me think of the Keystone Kops, bumbling about and getting sliced up. Dare I say anything about Ood the Jedi. I almost laughed out loud. Dead Imperial flying ace brains in droids. Good Gravy. Although King Brand was the most idiotic character ever created. I just bowed my head in disbelief when he floated out to meet our heroes. So, why two whole stars. Because the art was great. Especially the battles on Ossus and Byss. New Alderaan was also well done. The shot of the Galaxy Gun and it's effect on a planet whose name I will not give was stupendous. I also enjoyed the plot involving Han and Fett. Although, what is this junk about Fett being a former stormtrooper who murdered his CO. What about Jaster Mereel. Oh, well both ideas will probably be shot down by Ep. II anyway. Best Line: "Let go of my jet pack, ya animal." "Ya." Fett always seemed pretty grammatical to me. Guess not.

Rating: Summary: This comic kicks Swartz! Review: Jammed full with an explosive plot and awesome renderings of the characters we love and know best. If anyone is actually reading this, I must definetly say if you were disappointed with a so-called lack of technology of Dark Empire, Dark Empire 2 will blow you away. Hidden surprises and some really cool events take place. Witness an action filled comic comeback in this story.
Rating: Summary: Audiocassette highly recommended for kids Review: My son acquired the audiocassette versions of Dark Empire and Dark Empire II when he was six years old, and after 2 1/2 years he still hasn't tired of them. What higher recommendation is there? The cast performance is energetic and faithful to the original film characters, the sound effects are first rate, and the whole production is very well paced. The tapes are visceral in the way that the films were at their best. The langauge is suitable for kids, and even pushes their vocabulary a bit. As an adult, I roll my eyes a bit at the "Will-Luke-go-over-to-the-Dark-Side" cliffhangers and the repeated demise and reappearances of the Emperor. But it's no more silly than the Saturday morning serials that inspired the series, and the kids don't care a bit! The bottom line: it will keep the kids entertained for hours...or maybe even years.
Rating: Summary: Oh No! The clone had a clone! Review: The clone emperor cloned himself and Luke must stop him again. This is the sequel to Dark Empire and is very entertaining. There is a Dark Empire III, but you can skip that one. Dark Empire II is worth a listen. Dark Empire and Dark Empire II take place Six years after the Battle of Endor, (but after the Zahn trilogy). Luke discovers that the emperor is still alive. Luke researches whether a jedi has ever returned from the dark side. This is cool, because this acknowledged the earlier comics dealing with the jedi and sith 3,000 to 5,000 years ago (learned in the holocron's that Luke has gathered.) This is the description of the comic which the audio tape is based on.
