Summary: Too bad that it ends
Review: I have like this serie very much because Alita is a wonderful character. The only problem with this serie is the amount of blood shed. But when you read this you don't really see it since you are so focused on Alita's character and you are battleling with her. The end is beautiful and it also leaves you hanging. I was happy to share such an experience with a character that we can all relate with.

Summary: #9 of the Battle Angel Alita epic
Review: If I said this were the best graphic novel ever, I don't think I'd be too far off. However, it is a matter of opinion. An invigorating plot, multi-dimensional characters, and a descriptive setting are a must in any story, and this book has got it all - plus eight novels worth of history behind it. Personally I find Angel's Ascension, the end to the Battle Angel Alita series, the best. But there's more! Not only does the plot move you, characters charm and scare you, (Desty Nova has my vote for scariest bad-guy) and setting take you away from the monotony that life can sometimes be, but Yukito Kishiro asks daring questions about the core of our existence:

"What makes us who we are?"

And as the struggle for the Scrapyard's independence comes to a close, Cheif Bigott, Lou, Den, Alita, Kaos, and Koyomi must toil with the question of right and wrong... and battle with the thin line between life and death.

Summary: The Final Chapter
Review: In Angel's Ascension, the final book in the Battle Angel Alita series by Yukito Kishiro, all the questions that have plauged Alita since the beginning of the series are answered. Questions like, what is Tiphares? Where is it connected to? Why does it retain such secrecy? Where did Alita come from? The answers may surprise some readers and they in turn bring up new quandaries. Angel's Ascension is a must-have for any fan of the series, and is truly one of Kishiro's finest books. For the fan that would go into withdrawl without more Alita adventures, you can check out Kishiro's next work, the comic Ashen ictor, which follows the motorball circuit 300 years before Alita's arrival in the scrapyard.

Summary: #9 of the Battle Angel Alita epic
Review: Ok here goes,#9,all I can say is that book is the best manga I've ever read! The art, amazing(this guy can draw),the story is a masterpiece, but I especially loved the ending!Alright, I'm going to stop sucking up, but anyway,in this book,Alita discovers about her past, what her name was,how she ended up in earth, where she came from, and what she was.The secret behind the utopia above the sky is revealed(there are 2,one about the people, and why it was built).Throughout the book Alita is after Nova, and seems to be her enemy at first...

Summary: i dont know?
Review: okk, I'm a huge BAA fan, the art is beautiful and the story is soooo wonderful. it's the first manga series I've collected fully ^_^

but i have one comment for most people, and that is that ALITA'S real name isn't GALLY. I see alot of reviews saying "why'd that change her name from Gally to Alita?!" It's the other way around. Alita was her original name, from the manga, and they created an OAV out of the thing...and I don't know how they got the name Gally, but they changed it to that in the animated version. Alita is her original name.

but anyway, I love this manga so much^__^ this is my favorite style of manga, too. (and CLAMP's)

Summary: Near-perfect end to a perfect manga
Review: The above title could be changed to 'an absolutely perfect ending to a perfect manga' if only for the ending. Now, I loved the ending, don't get me wrong...but it was rather rushed, to say the least. Due to the fact Yukito Kishiro suffered a breakdown, and had to complete the novel this way.

Criticism aside, this is a manga you shouldn't miss out on! The art is beautfully drawn, the storyline keeps you begging for more, and after the first five pages or so, you fall in love with the heroine, Alita/Gally.
It's a tale of destiny, and overshadowed hope in a bleak future reminiscent of Blade Runner, or Total Recall. You are drawn into a world where cyborgs are a dime a dozen, and both human and robot are forced to live in a pit of corruption, while the utopian city of Tiphares looks over them. In this last installment, you find out this city's chilling secret...something you will not believe!

I can't recommend this manga any more, it is definitely a great read if you are into science fiction with a philosophical twist. Ten million thumbs up!!

Summary: Cyborgs, love, humanity, excellent art...a great combination
Review: The only thing I hate about the english traslation of Gunm is the silly name they used, Alita, instead of Gally (the original heroine name), but what a heck...maybe somebody in the future don't gonna commit the same error.

The Battle Angel series is one of a kind, a lot of people said "is to violent", "to much blood, guts",etc. etc. etc... but they forgot something...the story is "human" and about "humanity"...I had tears in my eyes at the end of the history and in the epilog I cry...Hell, men don't cry...but human beings do...

I recommend this saga of books for both women and men...is a great story with incredible characters and excellent art...even if you are not a SF fan you gonna like it, these books are more than just another "cyberpunk" tale.

Kishiro, Shirow, Katsura, Takehiko Itoh...great artists and good stories (or just fun stories)...take note

Summary: a must read...
Review: This book is the best graphic novels iv seen aside the akira novles still in print. It has a great plot a cool ending and a great story of how alita gets there. I was introduced to the books after watching the movie with yugo in it. I loved it and fell in love with these books. This is a must buy for those who love gross manga. And its is cheaper here than on the shelfs in bookstore.

Summary: A fitting finale
Review: This is the last installment of the Battle Angel series and the end of one of the greatest adventures I have ever been on. The philosophies on human socialism and nature were very very well done. The story takes place after Alita has defeated one of her strongest foes (essentially a battle within herself). She is then "free" from her bonds and back in control of her destiny. Now its everyone elses turn. Im not going to write anymore, if you like a good story or if you want to open your mind get this book it is HOT! The art is great and if you could find the movie grab it. (the author has a new series out focusing strictly on Moterball no Alita its about 20 yrs b4 battleangel, I forget the name...sorry.) Well thats all I gotta say hope you enjoy it.
