Rating: Summary: "Transcript" of Ultron Unlimited Review: ... Mindless "action" with no depth of characterization, and no emotional impact. About as interesting as the Charlie's Angel's movie. The entire book consists of the Avengers whacking clones of the Ultron robot over, and over, and over, and over again. If you want something by Kurt Busiek, take a chance on his excellent Astro City trade paperbacks instead (all of them are fun). You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: Ultron Unlimited Review: A powerful Ultron story featuring the Avengers taking on an army of hundreds of Ultron incarnations. The book collects Avengers #19-22 and the rare Avengers #0. Most of the artwork by Perez is stunning, as usual (he draws the best Avengers and Titans of anyone, anywhere). This story represents Henry Pym's long standing struggle with Ultron, why Pym is so special to Ultron, and how he ultimately triumphs over him. All Avengers are well characterized in this tale, even the seldom seen Black Panther. This is one of the best stories in Busiek's and Perez's recent run on the book and when it was published, it helped raise the group to new heights of popularity.
Rating: Summary: The Best Avengers story in....Well Ever Review: For nearly 40 years now the Avengers has been one of the premier Superhero team books. With this 5 issue arc though, Busiek and Perez crafted the best written and best drawn story the book, or the industry, had ever seen. Combining action with angst, with heroism, with pure sadism, they gave us a wholey entertaining and exhilerating read. Please, if you have any love for the comics medium, purchese this item and enjoy
Rating: Summary: Nice continuity with the Avengers of my adolescence... Review: I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that this is the best Avengers story ever written! What is wrong with Busiek's writing? Nothing! His plot and script are not simplistic at all. Some other writers have handled Thor, Cap, Iron Man, et. al. in a simplistic way, but this shows them at their most complex: With an ever-changing force of evil in the world, they must find an unconventional way to tackle it. Add Justice's hero-worship problems, the Scarlet Witch leaving the Vision for Wonder Man, and, of course, Dr. Pym. This is the best he's ever been written! This trade paperback could easily be all you need to read about this character, the man who was and was not Ultron. I haven't even gotten to Ultron yet! He is at his most evil and most powerful here, doing something that many readers thought him incapable of doing: wiping out a country. No, it was not "rushed and glossed over". You could clearly see the shock, horror, and anguish on everyone's face, thanks to Mr. Perez, the glue that holds this together. I have always been a fan of George's artwork, which tells a story unto itself, and he is sorely missed on the book now. I hope he is doing better. Busiek and Perez never failed during their run on Avengers, and if you want the best example, this is it.

Rating: Summary: well, at least the last 4 pages were good Review: I noticed that the reviews that bashed Ultron Unlimited were rated low in terms of helpfulness. It may be from people who never read this yawn-machine.Kurt Busiek's down to earth dialogue worked in AstroCity because those were characters of his own creation. But it just doesn't work w/ icons like Thor & Cap. I don't think Busiek really learned to get their dialogue down. It just gets really wordy. So here goes: Ultron destroys a small Eastern European nation and kills everybody w/ no survivors. We see it as it's televised on CNN. I don't know if that's the problem, but Busiek never quite conveys what an attrocious act that is. Even the Avengers just react sort of moodily, and not w/ rage or sorrow or another more appropriate emotion. Busiek attempts to deal w/ Hank Pym's guilt over the creation of Ultron and Pym's mistreatment of the Wasp. However, it's hard to feel sympathy for either of them because they're so whiny. The love triangle between Scarlet Witch, the Vision, and Wonder Man is both quite awkward and boring. This subplot just feels like a throw-in. The development w/ Justice (this is this character's third name - he's Vance Law in Guardians of the Galaxy, and I forgot what his name was in the New Warriors - it's like he's in the witness protection program) is pretty derivative. And of course the action. There are hundreds of Ultrons and the Avengers are huddled together throwing punches for 20 pages. It gets pretty repetetive. I won't give away the ending. It's actually pretty good, but the reading up to the point was so painful that u can't really appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: Ultron Rocks!!!!! Review: If you are a fan of the Avengers, you will definitely enjoy Ultron Unlimited. Trust me the title fits the book. The Avengers have always had problems with Ultron and this book is no different. I flew through this book. Great artwork that details the action scenes marvelously. If you like the Avengers or the villian Ultron, you will take pleasure in reading Ultron Unlimited. You can't keep a bad robot down. Especially one that kicks butt!!!
Rating: Summary: What a waste of ink Review: Okay, so there's this really evil robot named Ultron who wants to destroy the human race - basic comic book stuff. Brightly colored costumed heroes then rush in to save the day; everything good so far. What could have been a jolly good, silly superhero adventure is given as much thought as a car with five wheels. Pointless action which only serves to take up room mires page after page. Plus, the evil robot wipes out an entire nation of millions of people - a needlessly misanthropic plot device used merely to illustrate just have naughty the evil robot villain can be. What would amount to one to the greatest mass-murders in history is thrown away in four panels! This is the Avengers at their very worse writting.
Rating: Summary: Perez is better than ever Review: Over the years Perez's art has grown much better than when he started back on the Fantastic Four in 1976. Even if Perez's work remained the way it was back then I still feel that he is one of the best artists in the comic industry. This one has everything. Battles with the ultimate villian, Ultron are one of the best I have seen. I am what you call an older comics fan. I still have a sense of wonder that I once had. Spectacular battle scenes only done justice by George Perez. I rememer once how John Byrne once ridiculed Perez's art as simplistic...he can eat his words now. Perez's style has grown to surpass Byrne's by light years. While Byrne's art remains stagnant Perez is always evolving and growing into a much better artist than a lot of the current crop at Marvel.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the read, but not the best Avengers story Review: Ultron unlimited is actually quite an interesting story. For a reader who hated Ultron since his inception (mainly due to the fact that the Avengers comics at that time made little to no sense), I can't help but say that this storyline ranks as one of my favorite.
While it doesn't have the incredible, (in my view) legendary quality of Avengers Forever, or the explosive and addictive action of "Avengers under seige", the story still proved to be very interesting, if not addicting. What I liked most about this story is how it so deftly develops the triangle relationship between the Scarlet Witch, the Vision and Wonderman, while simultaneously giving a concise, yet detailed overview of Ultron's history and the relationship between Hank Pym and Janet Van Dam. The fighting scenes were also incredible, escpecially the battle raged between the army of Ultroids and Wonderman, the Vision, the Scarlet witch and the Wasp. The battle against Alkehma 2 was also very impressive.
I have two main problems with this storyline, however. Firstly, the story ended FAR too abruptly, killing off Ultron (who was previously unbeatable and unharmed) in just 2-3 pages. The second was the low realism (in terms of comic realism). It took Thor, Cap, Firestar, the Black Panther and Iron Man several pages to take out ONE Ultron made of secondary Admantium. Yet, they managed to fend off hundreds of Ultrons (mostly made of Titanium with some made of Secondary Admantium) and still balst a way into Ultron's chamber.
Despite this, the story is still well worth the read, especially as it deals marvelously with both the Vision/Scarlet witch/wonderman mess and the Hank Pym psychological history mess.
