Summary: The last third of the book is one of the best in all mangas;
Review: "Metropolis" by Osamu Tezuka, is one of the better light reading mangas around.

The story was about a little girl who was actually a robot or an android, but she had no inkling at all-- in the beginning. She longed for her non-existent parents after her "human" foster father died, but eventually she learned the truth. The last third of the story, became very intense & violent, & frightening which immensely contributed to the pleasantness & enjoyment of reading this book.Especially towards reaching to the conclusion, the way the author furnishes the last third and the ending is a masterpiece. It is utterly heartbreaking & poignant.And memorable. And cinematic. The last third is one of the best I've read in all of comics.

Duke Red, the lead antagonist of the book, aliken to Osamu Tezuka's previous works, most notably his Astro Boy series. Like Astro Boy chief adversaries in his manga runs, Duke Red is an imposing, terrifying yet a cartoon-ish villain most certainly synanymous to the pages of light-action manga books. It turned out to be a good read, as Duke Red turned out to be a veritable yet fun villain of this book, Metropolis. Especially suitable for Astro Boy readers, manga readers, or anyone wanted to read light & pleasant book for enjoyment to past time.

The beginning of the story was not bad at all, but as the story picked up the paces, it proceeded extremely to a gratifying and enjoyable conclusion.

Highly Recommended for Astro boy readers. Or manga readers. Or anyone wanted to read light & fun book for past time.

Summary: An interesting story.
Review: Beyond the title and a few characters, this story has little to do with the animated feature, but it still is worth reading.

The story takes place in Metropolis. Duke Red, a bad guy, is being chased and everyone is to be on the lookout for him. Mr. Mustachio is chasing him. During the chase a scientist invents artificial cells and builds a robot/person who escapes and has adventures as a "real" person.

The art is typical Tezuka in the Betty Boop/Popey style. The story is fun to read. Scenes of Miki flying through Metropolis are reminicient of Superman flying through Metropolis.

Next World was better, but this book is still worth reading if you enjoy Tezuka, Astro Boy, or cartoons from the 20's through 40's.

Summary: Not Like the Movie At All
Review: This has the usual well-done and entertaining Tezuka artwork and humor, but if you are looking for the book form of the excellent movie that was supposedly based on this you may be disappointed. Beyond the title and some of the main characters, the two bear almost no resemblance. Taken on its own merit, it is a fun and very quick read. If you like the Astro Boy books, you will almost certainly enjoy this.
