Rating: Summary: Gundam Strike 1 Review: To me it is more of a combination of endless waltz and the regular series. It hurried it along a bit too fast but it was good anyway. The pictures were a true display of anime and very good (making sense beacause it's a comic book). I also liked the Domon Wing at the end of the book. It kept me laughing for a while! Nice chibi characters too. I suggest it to all people who like comic books. You can WATCH gundam wing on Toonami as in MOVING pictures or anime cartoon. ÜÖÜ
Rating: Summary: Well... Review: Not bad, but it didn't have much depth as the show did. It seemed kinda rushed through and it didn't develop much. But I still like. Especially the chibi char in the end. Those strips were so funny.
Rating: Summary: Not bad... Review: Being a major fan of the series but unfortunately an American as well, I find it hard to get good GW merchandise at reasonable prices and locations in the US. I picked up this book at ... last weekend, hoping for a good dose of *translated* GW manga. I came out a bit disappointed--the book was simply a rehasing (and not a particularly great one) of the first few episodes of the show. For a fan that already knows everyting or has seen most of the series, it offers nothing really new or exciting. Plus, the artwork is somewhat inferior to that I've seen in other manga, even other dj (Quatre's eyes are just... wrong...). As for the translation itself... well, let's just say that I cannot picture Wu-Fei screaming "Scumbags!" In conclusion, this book is a fine filler for new fans to the show who'd like a general overview of some of the story, but not really worth the money of longtime fans.
Rating: Summary: Um..........Okay Review: I wanted to find out about the Gundam universe so I pikced up this book. It took me less than an hour to read and never answered any of my questions. For example, what are the colonies like? What kind of culture do they have? What makes them rebel? They live in space stations is as much as I got out of it. What about the Gundams them selves? What kind of limitations do they have? What are they made out of? How does the pilot control one? I found none of that. Do not get me started about the main charactors. What to they like? Why does each fight? Why do they fight for the colonies? Do they have familes? What are their lives like before? I have a vague idea of what they are like by the end of the book, but they are about as shallow as you can get with out just having scenes of Gundams fighting. Actually that would have been better, just show me the huge machines fighing it out with no charactors at all. It would have worked becouse the artwork is pretty good.
Rating: Summary: Totally different from the anime Review: This would actually be a four1/2 because it was a good manga in it's own right. I think if the anime did not exist to compare it to, alot more people would love it. But the anime does exist (thank god, I don't know how I would live if it did not. P.S Heero is my favorite. I'm not part of the Duo bandwagon.) It's like the writer watched the anime and then abridged it and added bad "sound effects". I did hate the sound effects. "Rage". That is not a sound, that is an emotion that could have just as easily been displayed by a sweatdrop or lines. I like the drawing, but it does not hold up to the Sailor Moon manga or definatly not the Gundam Wing anime in that department. I did not understand the chibi thing at the end, but then again I've never seen G Gundam and it took me half the comic to figure out who those little people were. I did not understand what the thing was with Allen ( is that his name?) and the horse. That confused me. So, like I said, if you go into it without thinking about the anime itself, you'll probably be able to enjoy it, but if you're comparing them the whole time, you won't enjoy it at all.
Rating: Summary: good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good Review: .... this was a really good Mixx pocket novel, but it was a littlefast. I enjoyed the special Domon Wing at the end and i cracked up thewhole time. It is definently worth the buy. I had people at shcoolasking me for it! if you like Gwing on tv, than this is a musthave. ~PAN~ [otherwise known as Ryoko Usagi]
Rating: Summary: Terrible. What a disappointment. Review: I'm a fan of Gundam Wing. I'm a fan of manga. The two together seemed like a winning combination. Of course, I was wrong. This manga is awful. It does shame to the planet Earth. Shall we go over why? 1)Size. This thing is TINY! Which wouldn't be that bad in itself, but since it's so small, to be able to understand what's going on, everything is HUGE! the letters are huge! they're so big and clunky that the characters never say "Mobile Suit", they always say "MS". Next, the average page contains the same amount of info that an average 3 panel comic strip holds. Yet, the story moves along three times as fast as the anime! How can this be? Why, by cutting out ALL THE DETAILS THAT MADE GUNDAM WING GOOD! The entire hospital scene with Heero and Duo is cut out. All the dialogue before Heero tells Relena he's gonna kill her is cut out! Remember the cool thing with him tearing up her birthday invitation, then wiping her tears away? GONE! he just walks up and tells her he'll kill her. no big deal. TRASH! Same with Lady Une's bomb attempt. All the dialogue between Relena and her father was just cut out, he says her true lineage, then, it's over. Character dialogue adds a lot to a series, and when it just gets RIPPED OUT...it severely brings down the quality. 2)Sound effects. This may not seem like a big deal in itself, but it does when you're reading. Sound effects are meant to help move the story along, and they're usually like, "SKREEE!" "BOOOOOM!" "KRAZAFASHCAZAWAKAZASCH!" However, in this accursed manga, they don't resemble sounds. They're more like verbs. "Jump", "Point", "Dash", "Open,"...when characters shake hands, the sound effect is "Shake". When Wufei jumps at Treize, the sound effect is "RAGE". Ugh..it's awful. Terrible. 3)The Chibi thing at the end? It was terrible. Example of the jokes it displays: Heero: G Gundam is over. From now on it's "Go, Heero!" Mr. Toho: Fool!...It'll be "Go, Mr. Toho!" Allenby: No, it'll be "Go, Allenby!" Rain: No, it'll be "Go, Rain!" Relena: .... "Go, Relena". ---This is supposed to be funny? ~~~~~~~So, in summary: This is a bad manga. Don't waste your money. The anime is so much better. The main problem: It moves along faster than the anime, while showing less information per page than a comic strip. Because so many great details are cut out. THIS IS AWFUL! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! DO NOT TOUCH! Unless you're a masochist..
Rating: Summary: I liked it, but it's sort of a "Short-and-Sweet" thing. Review: I recieved mine today, and I read through it, It's awesome, but it doesnt stop and explain things as well as it should. In fact, the series does more explaining than this Graphic Novel does. Another thing, This is a pocketbook version. It's pretty small, and it's a really compact little book, on top of that, the ink comes off on your hand... kiss that collector's value goodbye! lol. This is a more "put together" version of the individual Manga's that were released by Tokyopop in a four pack collection earlier this year. This is a great thing to have, for reference. So, I still recommend this graphic novel to Gundam fans out there.
Rating: Summary: great book, but a few left out details Review: when i got this book i was really excited.i heard it was pretty good.when i started to read it got pretty cool.altogether its really good but they added stuff in and took stuff out, alot out.
Rating: Summary: Totally Cool Review: If you liked the series, you'll love this book. I was a little amused with Heero, he actually seems to have some emotion in the manga. I've already ordered the sequel, I can't wait. This one covers the intro of the series through the completion of the Mercurius and Vayeate.
