Rating: Summary: X-Men/Doctor Doom: The Chaos Engine Book 1 Review: This is a great book, and a great X-Men story! It's the best Marvel novel I've read. It has all the action and suspense of a thriller, and it has great characterization. Steve Roman did a great job with the story, and I loved the Mark Buckingham art inside. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Rating: Summary: a complex work with cool notions! Review: this really seems to be complicated enough to sustain a trilogy...good characterization, good Buckingham illustrations and obviously strong plot well-thought out by its author. Looking forward to book 2!
Rating: Summary: Awesome!! Review: When I started reading the book, I really thought it wuz weird and that I hadn't been keepin' up w/ my comix, but as I read on, I found the concept of it very interesting. (our world has been taken over by Dr. Doom, and our past lives have been erased from our memories). I dunno how well the book stuck w/ the comix, so I'm not really sure it's accurate, but it's still a very good read. Well, after reading the previous reviews, I see a gurl spoiled one of the major events fer ya, but in case you juss happened to breeze past that one, yer lucky, you haveta read it fer yerself. All I'll tell you iz that somebody important dies. I mean, the author does a very good job of describing it in detail, I mean, when this character died, I cried- he/she wuzn't even the main focus of the story! (The novel mostly revolves around Betsy and Angel)The problem wuz, the Psylocke/Angel romantic thing lacked any passion whatsoever, juss a buncha lukewarm/implied-sexual drivel. whereas this character and his/her romantic interest really touched me. I mean, their last words made me actually, physically, cry. I read that passage a second time, and I cried again. And a third time. That went on about 8 times before I actually got a hold of myself. That small, two-page passage made the whole book worth it ((cuz I mean, 15+ dollars fer a paperback...)) cuz it shows how the author can make a very short, seemingly insignificant part of the storyline so effective.N e wayz, I really recommend this book, and I can't wait fer the sequel, and the last one (but you know who it's about if you read the titles of it...so that kinda spoiled it))
