Summary: THIS is ART!!!
Review: Forget your Picassos, Van Goughs and Warhols; as this book shows so beautifully, Bruce Timm is THE artist of the century!!! Every page is absolutely packed with the most gorgeous piccies this side of the Cistine Chapel!!! Breathless hyperbole aside, this is a really stunning book, with plenty of interesting behind- the- scenes info and unseen sketches which make it a must for any animation student or Batfan. Looking at the early character designs next to shots from the latest series show just how far this show has evolved. Well worth your money.

Now if only an Aussie network would screen the last series... and SUPERMAN... and BATMAN BEYOND...

Summary: Very cool!
Review: I think it's a cool book, but it's a little bit commercial, because it seems like Warner Bros. decided everything.

Summary: BATMAN RE-ANIMATED
Review: If you love the show, you'll love this book. A must have for Batman collectors. Countless sketches, stills and artwork crowd this gorgeous documentary of the awesome animated series. By far the best incarnatioin of the Dark Knight to ever be concieved, Batman The Animated series has been a pioneering force in the world of animation. This book explains and illustrates why. The artists get it. Dini's uniques vision made it to the small screen relatively undilluted from the interference of too many people. This wonderfully designed book shows the series development and maintenance throughout its many makeovers. It includes many never before seen sketches and ideas that didn't make it to the shows final film noir look. A smart purchase.

Summary: Worthy of more than fannish fawning
Review: Once in a while a show comes along to show the whole genre how good it could be - in this case the cartoon version of Batman. This beautifully illustrated book gives all the background information you could want to know about the show, and a whole lot more. Following the development of the show, this book gives you lots of behind the scene details, and, of course, hundreds of beautiful illustrations and photographs.

The only downside to this essential purchase is that it's limited in scope. Sure, you get all that info, and countless images, all wrapped up in beautiful presentation. But where are all the finished shots from the shows? There are virtually no Cels on display, and the book rather churlishly ends around the time that Robin was dumped into the series.

If you don't mind the one-sided nature of the book you'll love it. Actually, you'll love it anyway!

Summary: More, More, MORE!
Review: Perhaps the perfect animation book, this covers the original animated series in great detail, with more preproduction work and cel-repros than can be comfortably digested in a single sitting. Now, perhaps we can hope for a similar book for series 2 or perhaps Batman Beyond?

Summary: Best of its type
Review: The best compendium of modern TV animation layout and design currently available. These artists revolutionized TV animation, and this book is something that everyone interested in the field must have. Strong work, and very good presentation here, especially the storyboard sequences. Good for artists as a learning aid, or as entertainment for fans of the show, whatever age. Clear, uncluttered presentation from the Warners studio archives. A good history of the show, and a great lesson in how to develop an animated project. You should have this sense of design based on strength, simplicity, drama and clarity.

Summary: Holy Great Books, Batman!
Review: The book is a must-have for anyone who grew up watching Fox afternoon cartoons...however, get the hardback! My paperback copy fell apart after just one peruse through it and I'm waiting on the refund so I can get the hardcover.

Summary: "It's Never Too Late" to buy this awesome book!
Review: This book is a definite must-have for fans of the animated Batman series. This book shows you how much love all the people involved in the show had for it. The level of detail that went into this show is insane! Take a look at the storyboards shown in the book for the episode "Avatar" and I'm sure you'll agree that those rough drawings look even better than some of the finished cartoons that have been on. There is a lot to like in this book and I hope they make a follow-up to this one because some of my favorite villains (Clayface, The Ventriloquist and Mr. Freeze) don't get as much said about them as, say, The Joker. That makes sense, but it annoys me a bit. That is why I hope they make a second book. Until that day, this is an outstanding work of art and is perfect for any fan's collection.
