Rating: Summary: Witty and hilarious...definitely a favorite Review: Okay, time to write some online reviews! Before i buy anything i always come and read the reviews here, so i guess i oughta do my part and write some of my own! Dragon Knights Vol. 1: The chronicles of three somewhat crazy knights as they cavort across a magical landscape full of bizarre characters with the head of their former enemy Nadil. Meet Rath, a Yokai Demon who's bent on destroying those of his own kind, Rune, a somewhat feminine and sensitive elf who just wants to follow orders and get home safely, and finally Thatz, a lazy human thief and former gangbanger who's only interested in food, sleep, and cash of course. This is a hilarious series that is definitely a feat in comic manga. So, why the four-star rating, you ask? Well, truth be told i think this volume is one of the better mangas out there, but I reserve my five-star ratings for things like Nausicaa, and anything Miyazaki and whatnot. I was originally put off by this series when i first started reading manga becuase of the cover art (pretty bad on this one folks...since when does RATH have PURPLE HAIR?...and who the heck is the other guy?) well, at any rate i got bored one day and browsed thru it in B&N, and it turned out that the cover art wasn't anything LIKE the stuff on the inside. The characters are drawn way more three dementionally, etc. However, a word of warning before you get your hopes up: the artwork changes very quickly with the progression of the manga,(ive browsed through later volumes) in much the same way that X/1999 by CLAMP does. However, i think if you ignore it the artwork QUALITY remains very good, even if the style differs. As to comic level, this books great; full of knights in drag, man-eating witches, demon fortune tellers, and robotic storekeepers!!! after i started reading this the first time, i was disappointed to find the seemingly pointlessness of the stories, but i dont think thats true at all. whats really happening here is the author is giving you the lag time (that most mangas lack) between destinations in the form of several witty, comic adventures. its just that it is put in the first volume, then travels backwards in time to explain it later. From what i hear, the series gets a darker feel as you go, and the plot stabalizes. The reason i personally enjoy this manga so much is that the comic humor is great, and the characters and their expressions are unique and full of life as demons and the like plot to get nadils head (btw, once you read this, is it me or is Cesia like...a fourth dragon knight who doesnt know it and controls the WIND? hmm...)and of course, cat fights between the dragon knights ^-^!!!! for this volume, the art is still good, but it lacks wide-angle shots, which may be part of the style. Usage of screen tones is excellent! The best kind of Manga artwork is the kind that maintains consistency, explores different angles without obvious effort, and is servicable to tell the story rather than look pretty. Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Akira, MARS, and anything by Rumiko Takahashi (Inu Yasha, Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku) are all excellent for that, and dragon knights vol 1 definitely goes along witht hem okay, so ive spilled my thoughts and opinions! btw, this manga has less cheap humor and more laugh out loud, comical, clean humor. its a great buy, i highly recommend it! i notice something new every time i read it!

Rating: Summary: LOL Review: one of the best, overlooked manga out there.. don't pass this one!! i was reluctant on buying it at first until my friend forced me, stating that it was the funniest manga she'd ever read. she wasn't wrong ^_^ this is truly one of the greatest comedies out there.. highly recommended you buy it for a good laugh!
Rating: Summary: Thats & Kitchel! (and Ringleys, too) Review: This book is prolly going to be one of the few books in this series that really has truely weird and funny moments (yeah, Kitchel's in #8, but still), especially since now Thats & Kitchel are teamed up & have to search for the rest of the map & the Three Treasures. Of course, they found out about a demon who boasts being "the best thief" so they decide to go get him. They meet up with a little faerie (waterlight?), Ringleys, & once they get the map together, head off in search of the Treasures... This volume is really funny, prolly because it's Thats & Kitchel- what more can you say? It also has a story at the end, Bertha's Curse, dealing with Cesia & Rath, which gives this volume its seriousness but also some giggles.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: This book, by far, is one of the most INTRIGUING, IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT DOWN manga in the world! Three men, a youkai hunter, a theif, and a prince added together make one of the best action-packed comedy books in the manga world! Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Another Excellent Fantasy Romp Review: This is another one of those fantasy series that balances comedy, seriousness, and plot all into a nice tight little package. The story-line is definetly orginal, as are in my opinion the characters. Never, was I struck that I was reading a manga that was using other series as an influence, nor did I find the plot-line very similar to any other series. The only thing causing me to disagree with giving it a 5 star rating is the art style. In my personal opinion, I really couldn't tell at the start who was who, and actually what gender Rune was. Except for this minor problem its quite fun.
Rating: Summary: FINNALY Review: This is the book where you finnaly learn Rath's secret! I was way off, that's for sure. Anyway, the story thus far has been a great manga experience! With lovable main charactors with their own problems and quirks. The artwork in this series is extremely beautiful and really gives the manga an extra edge. The story is highly complicated, and at times, highly frustrating. But it all pays off in the end as you slowly start to realize what has really been going on. As with the last few books, this one is COMPLETELY about Rath. I don't know about you, but I think it's about time that Rune and Thatz come back! I miss them. Anyway, as I said, this book is completely about Rath, as he fights the "one eyed demon". While all the while both Kai stern and Cestia are looking for the wind dragon. Cestia needs it to revive the dead crewger, and Kai stern seeks it to heal the dying Rath. And, as always, you're in for one big surprise after another as you learn what happened to Rath all those years ago, and then find out what has happened to the wind dragon and most importantly, the wind dragon knight! And you also find out who's burried at the unmarked grave in the forest at the dragon castle. With all the secrets revealed in this book, it is definatly a must read. The only way it could be better is if Rune and Thatz were in it! Well, this series has been out for about 17 mounths now, and in one years time it will be completed. I just hope I can wait that long! ^.^< HAPPY READING!!!
Rating: Summary: one of the best manga i've ever read Review: this was the first manga comic i've ever read and it's certainly the greatest. Dragon knights started off as a light, comical manga, but then it got pretty heavy and serious. the animation has evolved a lot throughout the series, but it's still very decent artwork. what i like the most about dragon knights is the use of character developement. normally, people think of demons as evil killers, but this manga proves them wrong. it's most of the demons that sets the book in action. for instance, take my favorite dragon knight, rath. rath is a demon whom, for some queer reason, likes to kill other demons. he was very funny at the beginning of the series, but when the series got serious, he became pretty evil and did a lot of bad things such as killing poor gil (who is also a demon) but later, he turned out all right. yeah, almost everybody likes rath. the other two dragon knights, thatz and rune don't develop much compared to rath, but they're enjoyable characters as well. in this book, you can't help but pick out your favorite characters (my favorite is gil).
Rating: Summary: Good Review: This was...ok. I've read better, though. I've only read the first book, and there doesn't seem to be much of a good plot so far. Dragon Knights is another one of those 'quest' genres, and you feel like you've missed half the story, which probably gets explained later on. Also, the story is told strangely because the book starts after Rath, Rune and Thatz have finished their quest. This book was funny, but they kept mentioning characters that we don't know about. The plotline in the first book felt rather unstructured, but i did get a few laughs out of it. What was strange was the three main characters kept dressing up like girls. hmmmm....
Rating: Summary: The beginning of the best manga series yet!! Review: Want humor? Has this ever got it. The three mismatched knights get you laughing and you simply can't stop. You've Rath who'll do anything to "kick demon butt" as he says. His sword ends up breaking from over usage. You've got Thats, an ex-bandit obsessed with sleep, food, and shiny objects. And last, there's Rune the beautiful, longhaired knight determined to get back home before they waste any more time who got mistaken for the Princess. Unless you have something against comedy, you'll love this book!
