Rating: Summary: You'll Want Your Own "Persocom" After Reading This Review: "Chobits, Vol. 1" is an imaginitive, fun book that any fan of comic books and/or science fiction would enjoy, even those who haven't read any manga titles before. It's actually a good introduction to manga, presented in the authentic right-to-left, "unflipped" format used in Japan. Newcomers will be delighted with "Chobits," a quirky tale which is a great change of pace from superhero-dominated American comics with their all-too-familiar, endless slugfests against the "villain of the week." Instead, "Chobits" offers a well-paced, character-driven story about a lonely young man named Hideki who unexpectedly finds himself in possession of a "persocom," a high-tech computer in the form of a lovely woman. At first it appears as if the persocom is broken, since it won't interface with other persocoms and speaks only one word, "chi," repeatedly. But gradually, Hideki realizes that this persocom is actually much more than it first appears to be, which complicates his life considerably! There's some mature material, but it's done in a playful manner. Although it's a fast read, there are themes presented that give "Chobits" depth and involve the reader emotionally. So check it out! For a very reasonable price you get 12 intriguing chapters that will entertain you and leave you eager for more.
Rating: Summary: this manga is so cute Review: i bought chobits because of the cover when i got to reading it that night i realised how adorible they made Chi. she is so cute eating her ice cream from her hand and doing her happy you'r home dance. they made up characters that i absouetly love and could not wait for the next issue. the ending is great and it made me cry. i cry about everything in books expecially when chi get what she wants. if you want a book that will make you smile because of the cuteness this is one to buy. oh yeah the art is fantastic too.
Rating: Summary: Not just another review... Review: First of all, Chobits has the most beautiful artwork out of all of CLAMP's works. It is a beautiful manga to say the least. Most other manga I know of (Sailor Moon and Magic Knight Rayearth to name a few) have better anime than manga artwork. The opposite in Chobits; I think the anime artwork cannot come close to the manga.
Chi is the most adorable Bishoujo (pretty girl) you will ever see. I fell in love with her cuteness the moment I laid eyes on her. The soft eyes, long hair and cute ear robot thingies...sigh. And the way she's always curled up, with her hair floating about...I wish I was Chi!!! By the way, I am a girl, but I have a thing for bishoujo and bishounen (I'm obsessed, basically). The moment I saw her, I started surfing the web to cram up my hard drive with pictures, wallpaper, and whatever. =^-^=
Now the problem with Chobits is obviously, the nudity. CLAMP has many talents and one of those talents is the ability to create every type of manga imaginable, from the innocence of Cardcaptor Sakura to the controversial Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland. Anyway, what movie nowadays doesn't have some sort of nudity in it? If not nudity, than French kissing and adult themes, violence and alcohol etc... It is not a porn book; it is more like an x rated film with a meaning and depth. The eternal questions of what is love? what makes a human? and are robots taking over our lives?! are the themes of Chobits. Manga is not porn, nor is it sexist; it can be, but you shouldn't just set it down as a rule.
As for the personality of Chi, well, that's another reason why some people hate Chobits. If the heroine isn't a kick-ass, highly intelligent single mom with a high paying job in a top law firm than she's a pathetic pushover! Let's get down to the basics: Chi is a robot. Sure, a sentient robot, but she is still a ROBOT. Whatever she does, and whatever she is, she is programmed to do. She also starts out not able to speak or take a bath, so how can you expect her to have a strong character? Most people comment that Chi is some sort of fantasy girl, passive, beautiful, etc... Well, that's exactly what she is because, I reiterate, she's a robot, programmed to please her future masters. They don't want a kick-ass, highly intelligent single mom with a high paying job in a top law firm as their...um...domestic robot partner. They want a lovely, girlish, sweet, docile girl to do what they...er...want. Ahem. So CLAMP is (is CLAMP plural?) not being sexist, they're being realistic! I mean, come on, once robots get as realistic as Chi, what's the next step? Rich guys who want a cute, young, robot girlfriends of course! And do they want girls who yell and talk about equal rights and stuff....um....nope!
I would also like to comment that Chi does not have that evil, condemning feature known as big boobs. She has a slim, girlish figure. I don't know what people have against big breasts cuz, believe it or not, some women actually have them naturally. Not everyone has breast implants, you know. Having a character with a curvy figure is not necessarily sexist. Yet here is a heroine without that feature women hate (envy actually) and people still aren't satisfied. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!??? Uh...anyway...
Personally, I like sweet heroines over the meanie-my-way-or-the-highway ones. To each his own...(avoid clichés). You might notice that girls as well as boys loved Chobits, so it's not a guy's porn, and furthermore, it was created by an all-female team.
I think the problem of Chobits is something like false advertising. You see the cover, fall in love with Chi, and have a sense of security about the story; a book with of cover that pretty can't possibly be bad. The pastels and innocent looks of Chi direct you wrongly. When I first found out about what kind of a manga Chobits really was, I was shocked, more than I would be about, say, Love Hina which basically advertises what it's about clearly on the cover.
Lastly, the personality of Hideki. Personally, when I saw him trying to pick up Chi and finding her to be somewhat too heavy I fell in love with him. He's kind of like Sailor Moon herself, a weak pathetic character with some natural goodness and not a bad heart. And why start a story with the perfect character, or even semi-perfect, when a dumb character has so much appeal and can easily go through so much effortless character development? I leave you to your own opinion. Chobits is not for everyone. (But you have to admit Chi's so cute! =^-^= Love Princess Hotaru)
Rating: Summary: clamp does it again. Review: This is so far one of my favorite animes! It is a science fiction/romance story. It is about a boy named Hideki who finds this robot girl piled up in the trash also known as a persocom meaning person computer or something like that. He takes her home turns her on but she can't connect to internet or anything her data is gone an she dosen't have an OS! but she can still talk and move around! though the only word she can say is "Chi" so Hideki names her chi. Usually a persocom can move an talk if thay have an OS (operating system) if not they would just be an oversized doll so why can chi? I know the answear but I'm not gonna go any thurthur because you have to read and uncover mysteries yourself but I will tell you that Hideki must uncover the mysteries to chi's past.
Now, notice parents this is for 16+ I woulden't recomend for maybe under 13. If you read reviews that are 1 star it's really not as bad as they say. Thiere is some nudity and language but my point is this is a really good book! So don't miss out on this one!
Now, the only problem which everyone else talks about is the nudity. But seriousely now people, I've read these 1 star reviews saying this series is porn etc. The truth is it's not! This is not a porn series. The only reason why they jump to conclusions because they don't get into the true meaning of the series. Thie series is about acceptance and loving someone for who they are. Thats pretty much the thng with chi and Hideki.
So now that I have that all cleared up, don't belieeve the stupid 1 star reviews you need to get into the real deph of the series. There really isin't a whole lot of nudity. Now, if your looking for an anime with voilence good vs evil save the world stuff I suggest you leave this alone because your not gonna find that here. But anyways, This is an excellent series! don't misunderstand it.

Rating: Summary: Terrible story, borderline hentai Review: This was a very bad novel. It has all the elements of a robot girl hentai except it has a more lovey-dovey storyline. CLAMP can draw beautifully but their character personalities are shallow. The more I read, the worse it got. I was really hoping CLAMP would pull off a good ending, but I was left disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Well written and captivating Review: In "Chobits: Vol. 1" all female manga team - Clamp, kicks off their well thought out sci-fi series that addresses such genre staples as artificial intelligence, human-android interaction, etc, in whimsical, briskly plotted paced fashion. While the manga may initially come across as 'fluffy' with its spatterings of silly/juvenile humor a short dig beneath the surface will reveal deep layers of meaning taking place (the nature of consciousness, etc.) that will be brought to more prominent light in later volumes. A highly entertaining read and definitely recommended to fans of both manga and science-fiction in general.
Rating: Summary: Chobits, best CLAMP work ever!! (so far) Review: I'm really into CLAMP's work and this one's the best! The story's just so cute and funny, yet romantic and sad at times. but then again that's what a good story should be! The art in this serious are just as beautiful as their previous works, or should i say BETTER!!
Okay maybe there's a lil pornograhpy in this book so i wouldn't recomend it to young children but the book it self is really wonderful! i recommen this to anyone who loves CLAMP!
Rating: Summary: Adorable. Review: This was the first Manga I picked up, I love it :) I've read it a few times in the short while I've had it. Even from the beginning, the characters are lovable (although, I might be a bit biased since I've watched most of the anime before buying the manga). However, at the beginning, the story has yet to really go anywhere. If you've seen the anime, you'll recognize a few of the events in here.
There is some very mild nudity in this, but I can't see how this could offend anyone, if the female torso bothers you, you'll probably be bothered, but like everything, you draw your conclusions on it yourself, there isn't a label on it that says "Fan Service!", and I took it as a sort of insight in the innocence (or general airheadedness) of Chii.
I highly recommend this, as well as the anime.
Rating: Summary: Suprisingly addictive... Review: Although of the harsh maturity and mild nudity, "Chobits" stands out as a great resembalance of love, friendship, trust and responsibility. A true thought provoking book which I guarantee will make you laugh or ponder deeply about the story. You'll instantly be gripped by it's compelling sweet and humorous story line as you follow the adventures of Chi. I highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: Love. Review: Chobits is beyond adorable. You can't look at each perfectly designed character and not love something about them...with Chi, an uber-cute "persocom". Don't be thrown off by the odd beginning, it's necessary to give you background information. If you're offended by mild nudity, then you'll be offended. But the art is so gorgeous and the story so cute {excuse me while I overuse that word} it doesn't matter. There's nothing not to like.
