Summary: The darker side to legends!!
Review: This series, being from the same creator of Fushigi Yugi is just as well written and illustrated. The story of a girl named Aya, who is forced to run for her life from her family on her 16th birthday, because she has become a "celestial being", what is a celestial being? Supposedly some sort of angel. In this volume it isn't too detailed on why her family would want to kill her because of the fact that she is a "heavenly maiden", I'm sure that will come later in the story. Of course there is a love story, Aya who is saved by a mysterious stranger named Touya, ends up falling for him. Of course there is so much more in this volume. Aya has a twin brother, who is supposed to be the reincarnated lover of the celestial angel that she has been reincarnated as. Weird?, yes!, but still very good, I can't wait to find out the true story of the Celestial maiden, and I can't wait to see the love blossom between Aya and Touya. If your a big fan of Fushigi Yugi, you have to get this!! Of course it's not as lighthearted, but still a fantastic series, if your new to this author's work, do yourself a favor. Be a little adventurous and get yourself this book. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed!!!

Summary: A Surprise Failure
Review: Unlike "Fushigi Yugi", one of my favorite manga titles, this one really falls flat. This is generic shoujo at it's blandest; not the worst title I've picked up, but not even good in an average way. Bypass it and read Yu Watase's far superior "Fushigi Yugi". Hopefully the next title of hers to be released, here, will be one less boring than "Ceres".

Summary: The path of destiny...
Review: Watase Yuu has grown as an artist in a delightful way. While 'FY' is the best known of her works, 'Ayashi No Ceres' is bound to become a classic. The storyline is darker, the characters deeper, more mature, and more vibrant for their emotional quandries.

The plot revolves around Mikage Aya, a sixteen year old girl who love karaoke. When she and her brother arive at their grandfather's house to celebrate their sixteenth birthday, their lives are changed forever when an unimaginable secret is revealed to them. Inside her conciousness, Aya is harboring the essence of a celestial maiden, one who fell from heaven. And her brother harbors the spirit of the maidens scorned lover. So Aki is a treasure, while Aya is the worst kind of threat...

Reading 'Ceres' is a unique experience, with humor thrown in at interesting moments and stunning atwork that many have come to expect from the creator of 'Fushigi Yuugi'. The plot is intricate, the characters very real and the layer of mysticism and fantasy does not block the emotional heart of the story. A must read!

Summary: Sweet Sixteen
Review: Way better then Fushigi Yugi! Another great comic by the genius Yu Watase. With beautiful artwork and characters to back it up, Ceres is a grand girl comic adventure for anyone with some imagination. Aya is a normal run of the mill girl with a normal life, until her family tries to kill her because she's harboring a vengeful angel inside. Sounds fun doesn't it. I don't care if it's the manga or the anime this series rocks. The only thing I can find wrong with it is the love triangle.

Summary: Ceres - a great piece of work
Review: When I bought this I had already seen the entire series on DVD from start to finish. So I know what it is about.

This is definitely a series worth investing in. It has everything you need for a good series. It has a well defined plot, great characters, a love story, jealousy, action, and comedy. Yu Watase does a wonderful job of bringing all of these elements and more together.

You'll definitely fall in love with (if your a girl) Toya. He is so mysterious. This first volume might not show it, but if you read on (or watch the series), then you'll see what I mean about Toya. The story line really hooks the reader because it starts out ordinary and ends up with worlds turning upside down.

The colorful characters like Yuhi, Oda Kyu, and Suzumi are what makes this series funny.

So, I would recommend that you read this book and continue to read more. Or if you can't do that, at least watch the series.

Summary: THE GREATEST MANGA SERIES EVER!!!!
Review: Where should I start? There's just so much to this series that's wonderful. Firstly, the art is first rate (what do you excpect, it's Watase!). The character development is amazing, and although there is a "love at first sight" notion, that may bother some readers, it grows on you and develops quite well. The story is amazing and Watase's side comments are a joy to read. Sure it's no the most realistic story around, but to be able to deviate from realism while maintaining the complexity of the human heart...that's SKILL. Watase's previous attempt, Fushigi Yuugi, didn't cut it (mainly because of the excesive melodrama and lack of real character development). If you're looking for something darker, and geared toward more mature audiences, with emotions that fly around...this manga is the way to go.

Summary: Excellent
Review: Yuu Watase has done it again! Her beautiful art and wonderful story telling make me want to read more and more. I love the conflict which is represented here. The story is beautiful and mysterious. For those who loved Fushigi Yuugi, you're in for a better and more beautiful story! And more bishis!!! ^^

Summary: The second Ceres, Celestial Legend manga
Review: Yuuhi Aogiri is a fairly regular guy living in Japan. He's popular at school, knows martial arts, and can cook pretty darn well too. But his whole life changes one day when his sister-in-law Suzumi, a dance teacher, asks him to pick up someone for her one day. So, Yuuhi goes off and ends up rescuing Aya Mikage, a sixteen-year-old girl in a seriously bad sitch. Aya is a direct descendant of the celestial maiden named Ceres. However, Ceres only wants revenge on the man who wronged her and stole her robes, and she vows to "destroy all the Mikage". Without the robes, Ceres is unable to return to heaven. Aya's life is changed forever on her sixteenth birthday when her family tries to kill her. But Aya manages to escape, and she comes to live at Aogiri household, though every day worries about her twin brother, Aki, who was taken away from her on her birthday. Aya begins to grow on Yuuhi. A lot, actually. The scene in which they're getting to know one another is so cute. Yuuhi is still acting pretty skitzy whenever Toya (Aya's rescuer and object of her affections) is around, though. Toya and Aya fans won't be disappointed with this volume, either! :)
