Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Barely passable formula Christian fiction Review: I can only assume that the other customers who enjoyed this book so much have never seen the X-Files or read a thriller before. There is nothing new here and the "thrills" don't thrill. The book starts out reasonably well, then goes nowhere for 200 pages, and finally manages a slightly interesting finish. An obligatory conversion-to-Christianity scene in the middle of the book is forced and unconvincing. The picture of Christianity presented is shallow and narrow: good Christians always get their pains healed, one good prayer session will cure you of the pain of your 10-year-old son dying, absolutely any situation resolves instantly if you just call on Jesus' name. This is a throwback to Christian fiction before Peretti and others figured out how to weave their evangelical perspective into the plot. Here, the spiritual stuff is tacked on; the characters too slow to realize the trouble they're in; the core premise (UFOs are really demons) poorly developed. There is some promise here in the first and last 100 pages of the book, but one hopes Marzulli's sophomore effort is better than this mediocre debut. If you're really after good commercial Christian fiction, try Left Behind by LaHaye and Jenkins or The Visitation by Frank Peretti before you buy this one.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: 4 1/2 Stars! A Gripping Thriller!! Review: I loved this book. It was an easy read and moved very quickly, but still had time to promote character development. I especially enjoyed the main character, Mac, finding his faith and learning how to fight the Fallen Ones with The Spirit of God, not by might nor power.I thouroughly enjoy when real-to-life characters, like Mac, who are broken and mistake-ridden, find their faith in Jesus in fictional books, creating a unique story like so many of the fables that Jesus told. This book deserves to be in every Christian Church library. The story takes a interesting twist on the UFO and alien subject that many people are interested in today. I would be interested to see more of this story line continued by the author. The Great Deception has only begun!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Nephilim Review: This was an exciting book - cover to cover! Not only did it have an exciting story, it presented the Gospel in a great way. It was not heavy handed. The Gospel was presented in a simple and understandable way. It presented authentic questions and doubts that many have and then presents answers to the seeker. I have often thought that so called "extra terrestrials" and UFO's were a demonic event. I believe that the enemy (Satan) uses UFO's and the idea of Extraterrestrials as a diversion to get our eyes and thoughts off of God. This books captures that idea well. Read and enjoy! Debbie
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: spiritual sci-fi page-turner Review: Saw this in a magazine review recently and read over the past weekend - a real page turner due to the excellent use of technology, government conspiracy - "Area 51" description and use of computers/internet w/encyption etc. - I was intrigued by the premise about alien interaction with humans thru history - a thought I've had myself! - and the author paced the book well w/ action and suspense - some good images of the tension in middle east - Readers should be aware that the the book develops quickly into a Christian allegory and relys on traditional images/concepts from the bible to save the day as it were - while a good read from the sci-fi POV, most reviews do not mention this religious moral theme
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: X-Files meets Religion for an interesting combination Review: While this novel exudes ideas which can be found in The X-Files, the book does not in any way lack originality. It almost felt like watching an episode of the popular show due to the fact that much of the mythology, alien-human hybrids, UFO's, government conspiricies, etc. are contained within. However, this book takes a unique twist in its suggestion that aliens are not what they appear to be and there is something very sinister behind their motives. Instead of an alien evil, it is a spiritual evil. The book follows the adventures of a writer, Mac, a man of lost faith, in his attempt to discover the truth about the Nephilim and the alien agenda. On the way he discovers the many secrets which are being withheld from the public. The characters are very well-developed as can be seen from the development of Mac from a man of little faith to a man who has found God and now relies on Him totally. The book ends in a true battle of good versus evil and does indeed leave itself open to a sequel. Bravo to Mr. Marzulli for his intriguing portrayal and spin on the UFO conspiracy theory. His research is excellent and lends credence to his novel. The Truth is Here.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Biblical Giants Review: Many believe the Biblical Ezekiel passages are the most intriguing, but those zodiac descriptions are nothing compared to the relatively unknown Nephilim passages. Marzulli has researched his subject matter well and masters the two most common perceptions of the Nephilim. Is it UFO conspiracy or fallen angels? With loads of thrills and suspense along the way, you won't know the answer until you reach the end, and you won't be able to put it down until then. This should be a movie!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I loved it. Review: One line in the Bible has caused many learned people to scratch their heads and wonder what it means. That line is Genesis 6 verse 2, which refers to the "sons of God" or the Nephilim, whose illicit intercourse with the "daughters of men" was one of the factors that lead to the Great Flood. Theories about who or what they are have burned the air waves on talk shows and interrupted more than one Sunday School lesson. In this thought provoking novel, the author tackles it head on with clarity and a well thought out theory. In NEPHILIM, we are offered the possibility that they are not demons or giants, but aliens. This aeons old secret is discovered by a burnt out alcholic reporter, Mac Mackenzie when he finds a hysterical patient in a secret psychiatric ward in a new hospital. She has wild tales of alien impregnation that spark a news story that opens a hornet's nest of an international and perhaps beyond level. Following the trail leads Mac to the Holy Land where he meets a group of Messianic Jews who have a frightening tale for him. The Nephilim are returning, bent on once more engendering hybrids between themselves and humans, causing events that could lead to an all out war between the powers that be, one that could very well end life on Earth, as it did when they first came. Mac finds that he must recover the faith he abandoned to join his new friends in stopping this event. Yet, the end might only be the beginning. ***** If you loved the X files at its best or have ever wondered about that verse in Genesis, you will be riveted to the pages of this book. It is far more frightening and plausible than the Left Behind series, and each hypothesis is backed up with scriptures that give it an added realism. Mac is not a perfect hero one might expect to find in an inspirational book but a man scarred by earning a Phd in the school of hard knocks. Only the hope that is given will keep this from being the scariest thing you have read in a while. *****

I could not put this one down. The characters are well formed, and I would reccomend this book to anyone looking for a great book to read.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: The Great Deception Has Begun Review: From start to finish 'Nephilim' was a rather enjoyable novel. As I was in the middle of the book I discovered that there was a sequel and I became more eager to finish this one so I could move on to the next. The main gist of the novel involves a down and out reporter, Art Mackenzie, who has turned to booze to deal with the loss of his son. Inadvertently he finds himself wrapped up in covering a story dealing with alien abductions and goverment coverups. Somehow all of this is related to his father's murder years prior due to his involvement at Roswell. He soon finds himself on a plane to Israel and the story really begins as he is exposed to the mystery of the Nephilim, God and himself. In Art MacKenzie, L.A. Marzulli has created a wonderful character to base the book around. I began to care about him right from the start of the book. I was immersed in his life and was eager to see what he would do next. Most of the main characters were of interest as well. The book began very strong, however with the additional of new characters, sublots and location changes the overall story became slightly disjointed. The ending was slightly predictable and a slight let down, however do not let this stop you from reading this book. As I said earlier I am eager to read the sequel.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: thought provoking Review: It's not for everyone, in fact some of the more detailed accounts in this novel were just creepy! I wouldn't reccomend it for children, but for mature teen and adult audiences. It's all we know about UFO's and Aliens mixed in with religion, basically its the Christian's explanation for Aliens, and its that Aliens are actually demons. That part was very interesting. It was just really disturbing like the alien/demon mutations (especially at the end of the book) and impregnation of women by aliens in exchange for the advancement of technology in Earth. Not for the faint of heart especially if your female. Basically its about a reporter who goes in for a story and then finds out that the government is hiding insane people, people who claimed that they've been abducted and impregnated by the Aliens. The author spins some Christian theologies into the novel, some of it is in the bible, others are from the authors opinions and "research" on aliens/ufos. Its interesting and thought provoking. Even if your not a Christian, this is a very imaginative book that would be worth the read, just as long as you keep in mind that there are some grotesque details in this book. Again, its not for the faint of heart.
