Rating: Summary: Conceptually interesting, not original, lonnnnnnng book... Review: I've read a good number of Stephen King books and I liked the sound of this one so I picked it up. One of King's tendancies is to take a good idea and overdetail it to death. This books is a good example. Over 600 pages, I'd say it could have been comfortably done in under 400 and been readable. I forced myself to finish it, in spite of the obvious ending because I hate to put down a book unread. Read the first three books in the Apprentice Adept series by Piers Anthony for a similar theme and much better execution.
Rating: Summary: What a story! Review: I love a book that takes you to another world and leaves you there. This book does that. I didn't want to put it down, for fear of missing something!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: This is one of the few Stephen King books I have read so far and I have loved it. I can relate to Jack about traveling since I do it all the time. It was hard reading since I almost got in trouble at school for reading instead of working. It is an excellent book and I could not put it down. I cannot wait to read more SK books, they are great.
Rating: Summary: MY FAVORITE BOOK Review: I am not usually a fan of fantasy but this is an exception to the rule. The Talisman is a wonderful blend of horror and fantasy and one of Stephen King's best books.
Rating: Summary: Stephen King at his best! Review: An excellent book with all that great Stephen King suspense and thrill, plus a whole lot of heart.
Rating: Summary: Excelent. Review: I first read this when I was 11 or 12, so I was the same age as Jack. I could see myself in the role because we were the same age. This was only the second book I'd ever read by SK (after Eyes of the Dragon) and it turned me into a SK fanatic. I'm now 21 and the novel still holds that magical appeal for me. Highly recommended!!!!!
Rating: Summary: can't put it down read it at least 10 times Review: This is the best book i have every read. I've read it abotu ten times since i got two years ago and i still find new things in it. Before i was just a stephen king fan but now i love both of them
Rating: Summary: The Talisman: One of my FAVORITES Review: This book has wonderful imagery and forces you to use your imagination... I just got through reading the one bad review on this page and I have to tell people who haven't read this book yet to please take customer reviews in context. Okay, on with my review... the characters in this book and the situations in which they find themselves are very entertaining, you will come out of reading this book with an experience similar to most readers, I think, and that means you will love it :) This is one of my favorites right behind The Tommyknockers and The Stand.
Rating: Summary: My All-Time Favorite King Novel Review: I've read everything Stephen King has written, and though this was part Straub, it's more King than Straub. I find myself weighing every other Stephen King book against The Talisman. If you like books about precocious youngsters who are driven to extraordinary feats, then this book is for you. As much fantasy as horror, it is not easily categorized. Read it. My teenagers loved it too ... when they were still in their teens.
