Rating: Summary: I loved all of Ms. Auel Books and look weekly for #5. Review: I loved the entire series and purchased the Hardbacks so I can read over again. When will #5 be out? I've been waiting 8 years. Hurry.
Rating: Summary: A definate page-turner. Review: Although her descriptions of the flora and fauna can get lengthy, the book is certainly worth reading. I heard a rumor that Auel is involved in a copyright battle with the author af another series and that is what is holding up publishing of the fifth novel, which is supposedly finished. If this is true I hope they wrap it up soon. Her fans are eagerly awaiting the last two chapters in this wonderful series!
Rating: Summary: I love this book and can't wait for the fith book. Review: The book is intresting and I plan To read it a second time time to catch up with the four times I've read the other books. It is intense on adventure as it is on facts. Jean must be proud, and I hope she hurries with the fith book.
Rating: Summary: The worst one yet. Review: To me it seemed almost repetitive with each tribe they got to. It started getting boring and there's too much talk about the scenery. This story didn't have much of an ending. The book shows how Ayla adjusts to each tribe except Jondalar's. If there is a number 5 I'd probably get it only to see what comes next.
Rating: Summary: Loved every minute of it! Review: It seems as though everyone would like Ms. Auel's fifth book to come out. Well, count me in! All the books up to this point have been a fabulous read. Ayla and Jondalar's year long journey is definitely not something that can be glossed over, and Jean Auel has done an admirable job of making their trip as interesting as possible. The bits of info on the flora and fauna was also fascinating and added more flavor and realism to the tale. However, the sex scenes detract from the overall picture, and it seems that they've been added just to attract that particular audience.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Can't wait for the next one!! Hurry! Review: This series of books has enthralled me since the very beginning. I loved them all. Please HURRY with the next one. The suspense of what happens to Ayla and Jondalar and (baby?) is unbearable!
Rating: Summary: I'm Having Ayla Withdrawal! Review: This is one of the most spell-binding series of historical novels I've read, mainly because it relates so easily to current interests and trends. While based in the Ice Age, its explanation of herbal healing, learning about one's talents and inner self and how to relate to others, and the need to push oneself out of your "comfort zone" to learn and grow are all topics that are as important to life now as they were 25,000 years ago. After having traveled to eastern Europe on business and learning about herbal remedies as part of my job, I found this story to be intellectually stimulating, as well emotionally healing in this day of hurry-hurry. I'm now having Ayla withdrawal -- I miss her like a close friend and can't wait for the 5th book to be published! Please, Jean Auel, it's been 8 years since "The Plains of Passage," - just do it!
Rating: Summary: Ayla is the prehistoric Forrest Gump! Review: And we all love her so for it! The only thing that could have made this book better would have been a little less descriptive passages, and a little more story. Then again, on a journey like that, I'm sure a great deal would have been monotonus!! I've just read the series for the first time (I'm 37). It is one of the books (series) I've always meant to read, but never gotten around to. I will miss Ayla and her companions dearly until the next book. PLEASE MS. AUEL, HAVE MERCY ON US AND GET THAT NEXT ONE OUT!!
Rating: Summary: Completing the downward plunge of the series.... Review: Ayla and Jondalar may be clever and resourceful, but they can't top Jean Auel! Having made them into prehistoric inventors par excellence, she now turns them into therapists who counsel a rape victim, free a community from their dominating female leader and rescue a Neanderthal from a bunch of bullies. All this, by the way, is to liven up their neverending trek across the plains (hey, torrid sex loses its appeal by the fourth book). At least "Clan of the Cave Bear" and "Valley of Horses" had suspense and plot; in this yawn-provoker, you know nothing will happen. Ms. Auel cannot risk doing anything bad to her two money-making characters, and their relationship is now secure (although every man they meet makes Bambi-eyes at Ayla and every woman, up to and including Jondalar's cousin, has the hots for him). Jean Auel has done her research on plants, tools and so on, but I read this book for a STORY and needless to say, Ayla and Jondalar hadn't invented that yet.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Completely frustrated---Where's Number 5? Review: This book was more a journey than a story but left me wanting to know more. A dear friend of mine loved this series. Unfortunately she past away last year and actually mentioned in her last hours (with her typical dry, sarcatistic humor) that one regret she had was she would never know how her favorite series ended. I love you Jean but please (PLEASE) give us another book!
