Summary: Too much exposition, too little plot.
Review: Auel takes information she has about prehistoric times and delivers it, again and again, ad infinitum, whether it is relevant to the story and characters or not. Much of the information had already been provided in previous books of this series. Read the other three, but not this one.

Summary: Mind-blowingly Good - best read ever
Review: This series of books has changed my views and approach to life more than any other experience in my life to date. Like everyone else, I impatiently await Book 5 (and 6 for that matter). I did hear (3rd hand) that Ms Auel has been ill and this is why book 5 hasn't been completed. I hope the illness is not too serious (not only for selfish reasons). I'm sure I can speak for all Ms Auel's readers when I would ask that she (or someone on her behalf) publish an announcement on the WWW letting us all know how she is.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I don't mean just this one book, I'm talking about the whole Earth's Children series. It's been almost 8 years since Jean M. Auel last published something in this series. Everyone whose hooked wanted to know when her next book will be out. I know she likes to do research for her books, but sometimes it just seems like the public can't wait forever for Alya's saga to finally come to a close.

Summary: Hurry up Jean! We're waiting!

Summary: Jean M. Auel does not disappoint!
Review: I've been a fervant fan of Jean M. Auel ever since I picked up "Clan of the Cave Bear" last spring. Her books are incredibly rich in detail, her writing is flowing, the world and characters she creates unbelievably real. I really feel as if I know Ayla. This particular book, all 760 pages of it, I read in three days, unable to put it down. A storm knocked out all the power, so I pressed against my window sill and read in the dim light. After I finished, I lay back and hugged the book. Now that I've read all of Jean's current books, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself until her next installment of the "Earth's Children" series comes out!

Summary: Where is Ayla, we are left to wonder where her journey ends.
Review: 1986 the Mammouth Hunters, and we wait 5 years for Plains of Passage. Jean tells us she spent those years on research and writing to bring us close to life in the ice age. I too wait anxiously for her 5th book. I've even asked a national book store if they would contact her publisher to find out if she is well and in fact working on her 5th, should I continue to wait or is this the end of the journey? No answer. I waited on a list for 4 weeks to get Plains and want to be first in line for her next. Anyone, anywhere know if there is a 5th in the works? God bless Jean and keep you healthy, for we selfishly wait for the next Passage.

Summary: I loved reading this book and am looking forward to the next
Review: I am not going to do a review but I would like to know if Jean M Auel has another book out. If anyone should have the title to this book I'd appreciate an EMail message back. Thank you

Summary: Jean, DON'T HURRY!
Review: I, too, want another book in the series, but please get it right this time. The Clan was a classic. The Valley was good, though it did introduce the idea that this one girl would go on to invent everything of ancient man. As a metaphor for all paleolithic mankind, I can accept that. But the Mammoth Hunters and Plains had constant repetition of past information. I mean, how many versions of Ayla and Jondalar having sex do we need. By now they're an old married couple, just say they did it and get on with the story. Jean still tells a great story, but really the interesting parts were fewer and further between. I sense that a nice bonus for writing was waved in front of her and the rest of the series was rushed to publication. Hopefully, she's taking her time on the next one(s) and will really give us something worth waiting for.
