Summary: Done before, and better...
Review: What's to be said? Jordan is overrated. Go read Tolkien, Leiber or the Dying Earth novels of Jack Vance. Don't waste time, or money. It's all been done before...

Summary: A real trip
Review: This book is startling, not only in its innovative concept and suspense, but in the way it draws the reader into the story. I haven't felt a pull this strong since I finished the Dune series. Normally, I dislike fantasy novels, but this one kept me reading hard until the last page. Much in the manner of the Dune series, Robert Jordan creates a world to explore, completely different from everyday expirence. Jordan takes this one step further, and actually explores this world he has created, instead of letting it sit there and decay (as in the Dune series). This book in suspenseful and innovative, and a very good yarn, even if you hate fantasy. Read it.

Summary: Great beginning to one huge epic.
Review: If you will notice, most of the ratings given to this book are 5 stars. That is because it deserves them. The first book is somewhat confusing only because of its compexity. Believe me this is not bad. In fact, I think it is great. I like the feeling of being overwhelmed with complexity much more than being left without anything to think on. It is so fun to discuss the book with friends and to predict future events in the series. And NOTHING beats rereading the prologue to The Eye of the World after reading most of the series. Don't think that characters are being introduced and dismissed when you read this either. Most characters come back for significant roles in later books. Definitely try this book and the whole series. You will be amazed at its complexity and meaning.

Summary: UGH Tedious!
Review: I read this book because I had heard rave reviews about it! so I jumped in enthusiastically, hoping for some great fantasy. Well I did find SOME, but much of it was so drawn out! The female characters in this book got on my nerves!! Snobbish and annoying! I hate people like that in real life Why would I want them as heroines in my fantasy books. I like Terry Goodkinds works better, however he is slagging too. Please give us some GREAT fantasy with out irritating characters and extreme sexual deviations (as in Goodkinds books) We're hungry for it!!

Summary: Excellent.
Review: This is a fantastic start to one of the best series I've ever read. The pacing, the plot line, character development, mystery, danger, everything in this book is exactly what it should be. It's a little complicated of course, due to the enormous amount of information and history that has to be given. I just reread this one after getting past book 7 and I was amazed at how much I missed the first time. One piece of advice: wait until the last book in the series is published before you start. I started it around the time book 6 first came out (almost five years ago), and the wait between volumes is so long you forget half the details in the meantime. It's hard to finish one of these books and then realize you can't read the next one for another 20 months or so.

Summary: This has got to be my most favorite book, ever.
Review: There was a lot of chance involved in the finding and reading of this book, that makes me wonder. I search around in a lot of second hand book stores for cheap, entertaining books to get me through the boring periods of my life. I found this book in an old box that had been shoved under the main shelf. I was basically looking for a fantasy to read, as I was going through a fantasy stage (I do this a lot). I almost put it back as I had never heard of R.Jordan (A scary thought.), and the amount of books I had already bought that week would last me a life time. The book then went on my book shelf and was ignored for at least six months. Then one day it happened, I had nothing to read. The only book I hadn't read was 'The eye of the world', and I wasn't too enthusiastic. The start was slow, very slow. I almost gave up and returned it to the shelf to collect dust, when the story suddenly began to take shape. It was at chapter three when I realised I couldn't put it down. It's a captivating book. Definately one of the best. I've recomended it to many people and they have given it the same rating. All I can say is keep up the good work R.Jordan.

Summary: BORRRRRRRRRRR-RING!
Review: My friends gave this one rave reviews so i thought heck i'll give it a try. The book starts out interesting, but it quickly gets boring. The book drones on for 800 some pages. Its like listening to Janet Reno speak for hours on end. I guess its ok, but give me Terry Goodkind any day. Hes the better writer of the two. And you can bet i aint buying the sequel!

Summary: Addictive
Review: This book is not for people who don't have a lot of time on their hands. You really can't stop reading once you start. It only took me three days to read because it stayed glued to my hands for every free hour I had. I literally lost sleep over this book because I kept reading for hours. It's at least 800 pages long and although I got really tired of not being able to start another book without looking at it like it wasn't first choice and didn't live up to the standards that are set by Eye of the World, I finally finished and I'm so glad that I read this book. This is one of the books you put down and sigh like you would when you hear a great piece of music.

Summary: A Rollercoaster of a book.
Review: Wow! What a book. This is what I would call real fantasy, a solid world that has an incredidle sense of depth and very well protrayed characters help this book to be a real sucess. The best thing about it however has to be the ongoing tension, this really kicks in if you can excuse the slow start althought that does have its uses. All in all this is an exhilarating ride so hop on.
