Summary: Why couldn't I have read this sooner?
Review: I was introduced to the Eye of the World by my father, who, having read the entire series, was searching for someone to discuss it with. "I'll read it," I told him. "I swear." I eventually started the Eye of the World - and put it down after the first chapter. I already live in the country, and the description of a pair of farmers who seem extremely similar to the ones living near us wasn't very interesting. However, I had really liked the prologue, so a few months later I came back and reread it. This time I stopped after chapter two. I kept doing this off and on through chapter four until one winter night. (I'm aware of the irony.) I had nothing else to do, so I started reading. Midway through chapter five, I was hooked. I stayed up past three that night to read. During the next few months, I read the rest of the series as fast as possible. The Eye of the World is a great beginning to my favorite series - even if its own beginning leaves something to be desired. It's amazing to watch how the characters slowly change as the book and the series continue.

I know that many people dislike comparison between Jordan and Tolkien, or for that matter between Jordan and any great literary figure. However, I can only give my opinion. I have read Tolkien, I have read Shakespeare, I have read Dickens. I've enjoyed them all immensely. I recognize their literary merit. But I simply like The Eye of the World and the rest of the Wheel of Time series _better_.

Summary: One of the best books that I've ever read.
Review: I don't usually read fantasy, but one of my friends insisted that i read this one. This book hooked me on the series, and I'm still going strong. Be warned: the series is addictive, and you won't want to stop, once you start. You won't be able to guess what's coming.

Summary: 4/5'ths of Tolkien
Review: Everyone insists on comparing Jordan to Tolkien and Jordan's work stands up favourably . But Jordan's slight lack of originality (we start off the book with a poor innocent Rand dragged off into adventure = bilbo , being chased by the myhdraal = black riders from the start of the LOR ) and classic (and rather sad ) cliches , for example the name of the trolloc tribes (demon , devil , gargoil etc ) and the naming of the lands make it a less enjoyable read . Jordan is a fine fiction writer but still is not up to par with Tolkien , because his books and writing lack the storyteller "air" that makes Tolkien a classic writer . Oh and there is a lack of non-human characters which is a great dissapointment for fiction/fantasy readers .

Summary: WOAH!
Review: This is the first non-comedic fiction series I've tried, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I hate to sound melodramatic, but each book in the series is a literary Mona Lisa, and the series is a literary Louvre. I'm only 16, and my praise is NOT given lightly (most of the time). This series has given me many sleepless nights, which makes it fairly rare. I really have to gape in open-mouthed astonishment at anyone who likes the genre and doesn't like this series.

Summary: I think th book is the best fantasy i have ever read.
Review: Robert jordan has outdone himself. This is definatlly the best fantasy i have ever read.I usaully read sci-fi,but the way the world is created, every detail being talked about in full, yet not dragging out is amazing. You really do feel for the charcters like you have known them all your life.

Summary: The Perfect First Fantasy Book
Review: This was my very first fantasy book- I am a type who is used to literature, with some top-shelf fiction thrown in; I read this one at the insistent urging of my fiance. This book (and series) provided a warm, pleasant suprise. It's rich with imagery from Arthur to StarWars, and is suprisingly original. It's not without flaws- Jordan tends to oversimplify some male/female issues, for example- but for it's genre it's practically flawless.

Summary: So good it doesn't feel as fiction any more!
Review: Five stars and a heron-marked blade for The Wheel Of Time, because this is the real cutting edge of fantasy! I'm a beginning fantasy-writer myself and it was probably this epic tale that made me start to write. I can never hope to become this good! Keep it up, Jordan.

Summary: Keep reading...It gets better!
Review: This book took me nearly 500 pages until I actually started liking it! I am NOT a fan of fantasy books. But a friend of mine, a huge fan of Robert Jordan, who's read and reread the entire series, gave me this book promising that I'd like it. Well, I was skeptical for a very long time--I mean the story was going so slow!! But once you got to know the characters and got to care about them the story got a lot better. I'm not rushing out to get book two or anything but I'd definitely tell anyone to give this book a chance.

Summary: Outstanding! Ten times better than Tolkien!
Review: I've never read any better fantasy novel than this one. Robert Jordan has written a remarkable book, and i'm quite impressed. Not only has he created a story which outstands all other fantasy-novels, he writes well too. This is one of the books (series) you HAVE to read!
