Rating: Summary: What a fireworks show! Review: Q meets Lwaxana - what more can I say? Sit back and enjoy the show - er, fireworks. The marriage subplot really can't even compare to what's going on between two such strong-minded people. In fact, that subplot was a little cheesy, almost like a re-hashed Romeo & Juliet. But, it is a really great book. Q gets chased around the ship once again - that happens in every Q story, it seems, but it's hilarious every time! Highly recommended for Q or Lwaxana fans.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, a good edition to the TNG legacy of "Q". Review: Q was the start and finish of the whole 7 years of Star Trek: The Next Generation. _Q in Law_ definitely fits Q's personality in all of the episodes on TV. The book is eloquently written and is complete with some snide remarks and puns that only Q could deliver
Rating: Summary: A Must Read, with Reservations Review: Q-in-law is a refreshingly well-written and extremely entertaining novel. However, it has a trifling, almost non-exsistant plot that acts simply as a vehicle to get two of Star Trek's funniest characters -- Q and Lwaxanna Troi -- together. It is also shrouded in startlingly "un-Star Trek" sexual overtones. These short-comings are redeemed by the author's excellent characterization and by the novel's numerous laugh-out-loud moments. Be sure to watch out for Wesley Crusher and his subplot. In short, Q-in-law is a must-read for any fan looking to take another spirited adventure with the crew of the Enterprise-D.
Rating: Summary: brilliant!!! Review: the best thing about this book, is what happens to Q when he meets Lwaxanna Troi. Read it and find out!!! :-)
Rating: Summary: I got started reading Star Trek books because of this one. Review: The night I began reading this book, we had a power outage. I found an oil lamp and kept right on reading. I laughed so hard this entire book. You can picture Majel Barrett telling John DeLancie, "Tennis anyone?" It was great. I wish this and Imzadi were made into episodes before TNG went off the air! I still go back and read this book every once in a while for a good laugh.
Rating: Summary: Maybe a one joke STNG book, but it is a great one joke Review: The vast majority of Star Trek novels are somewhat diverting and we make do with them because now we are down to just one series left in production, which means whichever show was your favorite in this franchise all you have are DVD editions and novles. But every once in a great while there is a Star Trek novel that you wish had actually been an episode, which is the highest compliment you can pay such stories. For me, "Q-In-Law" is one of those rare novels. I am not surprised it was written by Peter David, who is my favorite Next Generation author (with "Imzadi" my favorite STNG novel), but I am rather surprised that he has written a story that is intended to be a stitch from start to finish. As the cover proclaims in a wonderful bit of understatement, "Two of the most powerful forces in the galaxy are about to collide..." Just the idea of Q meeting Lwaxana Troi should be enough to make you read this book with a smile on your face and an insane gleam of anticipation in your eye. Add the fact Q has popped in on the Enterprise crew to examine the human concet of love and that Lwaxana attains the cosmic power of the Q, and let your imagination run away with what wonders are contained within this volume. There is Romeo & Juliet subplot involving a pair of rival space faring merchant families in which Wesley becomes involved, but the focus of all the fun is clearly on that great love triangle of Picard, Q and Lwaxana. Once you read this book track down the audio book version, which features John DeLancie and Majel Barret as the readers. Granted, it is not the filmed version you have created in your mind's eye, but actually hearing DeLancie and Barret going at each other is still priceless.

Rating: Summary: An experiment in controlled chaos. Review: This book has a very deserved reputation for being one of the funniest pieces of Star Trek fiction ever written. Viewers and readers all know what Lwanana Troi is like, and they all know what Q is like, so just imagine the consequences if the two should meet. Star Trek writers have to be very careful when using Q, and Peter David is a master of it. I actually laughed out loud several times while reading this book, and the ending gives a whole new meaning to the saying "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A MUST!!!!!! Review: This book is hilarious. If you like books about Q you will "love" this one. In this one Q is challenging the power of love and it gets all the more intresting when Lwaxana shows up. YOU will LOVE this book it is fantastic. Lwaxana will surprise Q in the end and it has a hilarious ending. As always when Q is involved everything will be turned upside down and inside out and you will LOVE every moment of it. By the end of this book the crew will have become acustomed to seeing people out in the middle of space without any protection and when Lwaxana shows Q exactly how mad a woman can be he sure learns his lesson well, and the hard way after she cleans the ship with him as the dishtowel. Anyone who reads this book will love it. I would recomned this book to everyone and I know you will enjoy it as mush as I did and I've read it a couple of times myself especially the ending.
Rating: Summary: I could not stop laughing Review: This book is one of the funniest Star Trek books I have ever read. Peter David is an awesome author, and I've read all his ST books. This is one of the funniest, if not the funniest. The scenes at the end between Q and Lwaxana make you laugh until you turn purple. The dialogue in this book cracks me up sooo much. I really reccomend this book, and also all of David's other ST books.
