Summary: Q in love?
Review: A wedding is to happen and guest Ambassodar Lwaxanna Troi is to overlook it, but trouble starts to brew in Romeo & Juliet-like story when Q pops up to study love. What I like best was that Q hopefully learned that you don't mess around with Lwaxanna Troi, such as messing around with her feelings. Any Q fan will enjoy this hilarious book about love.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent Next Generation Fun
Review: Can you believe it? Q is going to get it! He's going to marry Troi's mother, and she's a shrew. Remeber when she tried to marry Picard? Only here, she tried to marry Q,the guy who put humans on trial for being a savage child race. She's funny because she always chases the guys around, first Picard, then Riker, then she tries to hook up with the guy on the holodek, then she's wanted by that Ferengi, then she falls in love with the guy from MASH, then she wants to marry that guy who has the other guy telling him what to do. If I were Q, I'd run for cover! Also, Captain Picard is in this book and he's not jealous that Lwaxana wants to marry someone else!

Summary: David's writing holds, but plot is seen nowhere...
Review: First of all, I enjoyed this book very much.

It was fun, entertaining and I recomend it. But if you look at it analytically, problems arise.

The main weakness is the lack of decent storytelling and plot. It's a comical science fiction drama written like a situation comedy. Situations follow each other without any logical reason and this makes the storytelling erratic.

Peter David's writing is exellent again, but the story simply doesn't hold well enough. I recommend it, but it's not as good as some other novels by peter David.

Summary: Lwaxana Troi + Q = GREAT BOOK!!!!!
Review: For startrek fans and non-fans (!) alike, you will love this book because it is really funny and entertaining. Plus you get to read about Lwaxana beating up on Q!!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A Big Disappointment. Get the book instead
Review: I absolutely LOVED the book version of Q-Squared. Peter David did a 5 star job with it. After reading the book, however, the audio cassette was a big disappointment. Only the barest threads of the story are included, and many of the funniest moments are left out altogether to fit the story on one tape (for instance, Wesley's "gift" is hardly even mentioned). That said, the performances by John DeLancie and Majel Barrett were very well done, earning back a star on my rating. I really recommend getting the book instead. You just miss too much here.

Summary: I actually laughed OUT LOUD reading this great story...
Review: I can't think of a more entertaining premise to The Next Generation than having Troi's Mother suddenly wield the power of Q. We saw what happened when Riker held it for a short term, but oh the possibilities if Lwaxana could be in that same situation... With 'Q In-Law' we find out exactly what that situation might have been like.

I rarely (if ever) laugh out-loud by myself while reading almost anything--especially a science fiction novel...but I sure did while reading this one, and more than once, I might add. I simply cannot spoil the enjoyment of this story by revealing too much of the plot, but suffice it to say that Q regrets his allowing Lwaxana to wield this power in a supreme way. Peter David is certainly one of THE BEST Trek authors out there, and this one is certainly one of THE most entertaining Trek stories of all-time. I found myself just WISHING on more than one occasion as I read this book that they had made this one into an actual episode--it would rank as one of the best I assure you. Now if you like this story, do yourself a BIG favor and pick up Peter David's fantastic 'Q Squared'--it is everything this one is (but not as funny) and a lot MORE. Easily one of the most complex Trek stories ever written, and also one of the most satisfying as well. Only serious Trek fans need apply if you know what I mean.

Summary: One heck of a story...
Review: I do not consider myself a novel reader, but Q-In-Law was one that I couldn't put down for a moment. I always wondered what would happen if 'love' and Q was ever combined, and Peter David gave me the answer. Of course I couldn't expect Q to behave, as he never does anyway. So Q's position on love would be a hard topic to write about. But the genius (David) took the idea and ran. That is only one of the reasons why I give the book a 10. The end was absolutely hilarious, and I have never seen Lwaxana better. So not only is this book a combination of an impossible dream, a complete joke, and a Q spoof, it's a woman's ego booster!! 3 cheers for Lwaxana, that's showing Q!! Same to Peter David, who has outdone himself. Bravo!

Summary: The Best TNG novel EVER
Review: I fell in love with this book the day it came out...everyone that I know that likes TNG borrows it, I am surprised it still holds together, its so worn out. I have always liked the Q and Lwaxana characters, so pitting the two of them together, using the Enterprise as their playground was just priceless. I just could not put the book down, it was that good...the only novel I finished the same day I started on. And when the Audio version came out? I scooped that thing up. Having John DeLancie and Majel Barrett, the actors that portary the main characters was a smart move ... it made the audio book as good as the print version!

Hey, Worf! Over here! I'll buy a ticket! (you must read/hear to figure out the joke)

Summary: Hilarious! Fun to read
Review: I first read this book almost ten years ago, and recently decided to add it to my library once again(it was confiscated by my mom for 'innapropriate material' when I was 15). This is one of the most memorable star trek:TNG books out there for me. A Light hearted, downright silly at times, and with just enough serious drama in the plot that it pulls you in, the story is something of a romantic situation comedy.

A wedding is to be hosted on the Enterprise, and Q shows up as a guest. If that's not tense enough, Lwaxana Troi meets him, forgets her obsession with Picard, and is thoroughly enthralled with Q. I'll save the rest for you to read! Peter David truly expanded the boundries of the star trek novels with this book.
