Summary: explainatory,good plot
Review: I found that this book was very fullfilling and a page turner.I'm 12 and have a grade 13 and up reading levil and often find that many of the books are boring and I am often reluctant in reading them. This book was exciting and explainatory.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: a bald spot in a grassy plain.
Review: i still have not read tehanu so this review will refer only to the first three books. being a GREAT fan of tolkien, dragonlance and fantasy in general, icame upon the earthsea series with great joy. after reading the wizard of earthsea and the furthest shore i found the tombs of atuan somehow more boring, discussing too much of tenar's dark and uneventfull years and coming too late to the part where her adventures begun. ged, who was the hero of the first book and is as i think the most interesting chracter of this one, is being discussed as a secondary character. the book also leaves too many wide spaces open and the end is left unmended. i thing you can realy call the tombs of atuan "a bold spot" in the flowing spring of the earthsea series.

it could have got another star but because the main storyline begun so late, the book was way too short.

Summary: Very spiffy!
Review: I loved this book. The tombs were very interesting. Also, I liked the Labyrinth. Arha had a good personality.

Summary: It was ok, but kinda predictable
Review: Despite the stellar reviews that this book got from other readers, I was not impressed by Tombs of Atuan. To me, the storyline was just connect-the-dots, run-of-the-mill fantasy. Nothing new, nothing interesting. The dialouge was kinda ho-hum, too. The only plus side that I saw to this book was the characters and I thought the ending was somewhat interesting. I did not read the other books in this series so it is possible that my reveiw would have been a little more positive if I had done so. But overall, A big Ho-Hum.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I like the other books in that series more, but it isn't bad
Review: The book before that (A wizard of earth sea) as far better. right now i am reading the last book in that series, and i like that one better, but this book is really good too.

Summary: Absorbing!
Review: I came across this book 8 yrs ago in my school library and never regretted it. Infact this was the first of the triology that I have read, till now I still find it the best of the 3. When I first brought the book home I couldn't stop reading it - and not just once but 3 times in a span of 5 days.

Once again Ursula le Guin does a wonderful job of telling a story of a young man and an even younger girl finding hope in the midst of despair. A temple in the midst of a desert sets the scene for this story. It traces the path of a young girl living in darkness. Reaching out to a strange man trapped in the same darkness that she lives in she finds hope and the strength to break free from the chains that bind her. Such is the way the story is told that the reader is taken to heart of despair and out again.

I certainly hope that a publisher would come along and print the Earthsea Trilogy in a hardback omnibus. This is a must buy for those who enjoy reading a story with a simple uncluttered plot and very human chracters.

Summary: This trilogy sucked me into the fantasy genre
Review: I used to kinda look askewish at the fantasy genre in general but nothing i think is quite as satisfying now. Thanks to Ursula Le Guin of course , whose craft is intoxicating in the highest degree. Patricia McKillip, who i think is great, only comes close. Arha exposes many levels of truth. It is the story of a girl whose identity has been taken from her and who is made to be what others want her to be. It is the story of coming to terms when she realises what she believes in is false. It is the story of learning to trust, and the story of giving up everything you've known to seek your own destiny. In terms of plot, writing, atmosphere, relationships (no hackneyed stereotypes here!), characters, the author scores perfect marks with me!

Summary: Oh my God!!! I wish all fantasy were this great!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I LOVED this book!!!!!!! It had everything that I could have asked for in 146 pages! LeGuin delivers a fantastic story in this short but powerful novel. If all fantasy were this good, then there would be no problem. LeGuin does not pussy-foot around with "love affairs" or useless detail. She delivers a story that is convincing and full. In spite of what some may say, Ursula K. LeGuin far passes the lands of Middle-earth or Narnia. She gives us a world if islands and people that are so diffrent while they are totally the same. The system of magic is so cool!!!! "The name is the thing and to know the name is to control the thing"-- The Rule of Names.

Gosh! I've read some crap-fest books in my time! i.e., THE HOBBIT, the RECLUSE series and anything by Tolkien! LeGuin is my favorite author and will remain so until either she dies, or I do!!!!!!!!!1

That's my two cents!

Summary: Amazing!
Review: Very rarely have I ever read a book like this! I haven't seen chemistry like between the two main characters, Ged and Tenar, ever translated to book format before. It was a refreshing sequel to "A Wizard of Earthsea", and perhaps a bit better.

The character of Tenar was very well developed, as was the culture she lived in. It gave a certain sense of diversity in the world of Earthsea. It was an interesting and very welcome nuance in the Earthsea cycle. In my opinion, "The Tombs of Atuan" outshines them all, though "Tehanu" comes close!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of my favorite
Review: Of all the books i've ever read I must say this was one of the best. I never tired to hear even the simplest things about Atuan and the lives of the main characters. Though my friend never returned to me my copy I'll charish the memory of this adventure. Thank you for your creativity Le Guin! And to those of you who haven't read this book: It's a great tale of one gal's life in which she was taken from birth to live a pre-chosen life. Though she was fond of those she grew up with she still felt in her heart the right path. It wasn't until she met the Wizard by the name of Sparrowhawk (one of many names) that she could escape the life of a priestess-servant. A great book to read for creative, open-minds.
