Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Another page-turner from Preston and Child Review: These guys are interfering with my sleep. RipTide arrived on Saturday and was finished by Sunday night - or was it Monday morning at 2 AM... Like Relic, Reliquary and Mt. Dragon, this book accerates the heartbeat and moistens the palms. The authentic sea scenes and particularly the storm, took me back to my youth, spent on the MA/NH coast. The story line is superb, believable and based on the authentic. The setting magnificent and haunting as anyone who has visited the coast of Maine will attest. Kudo's guys for another great read. Waiting for more!!!!Bruce B. Jordan
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: For Peak form read Relic and Reliquary Review: Although "Riptide" is entertaining, Preston and Child are at their best with Relic and Reliquary. The story doesn't truly envelope you with any mystery or wonder. I'll still admit to being a huge fan, but I'm hoping the next outing will sound less like a movie and more like novel.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not up to "The Relic" or "Reliquary" standards Review: I wasn't an impressed with this book as other reviewers have been. It was entertaining enough, but I guess I just expected more out of these guys after having read "The Relic", "Reliquary", and "Mount Dragon" -- all 5-star books, in my opinion. I fear Preston and Child are starting to go the way of other authors (notably, Grisham) and are writing with the thought of making a movie, rather than the thought of making a good READ.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Predictable, but entertaining nonetheless... Review: Having seen the movie the Relic and listened to the audiobook the "Reliquary," I thoroughly enjoy these authors. This book was no exception. It read like it could easily be ported over to a movie -- which is fine with me, but the ending was predictable. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Non-Stop Action Review: A great book for anyone looking for pure escapeism. From the very beginning of the book, to the heart pounding end, this book is a non-stop great adventure. The best thing that I can say about this book is that I read it in less time than any other book that I have ever read. I just could not put it down.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Dean Koontz and "The Goonies" Meet! Review: Have you ever wondered what suspense/terror could do to a really great pirate story? Well, here it is. Treasure Island is tame in comparison. Although it isn't a "horror" novel per se, I often found my mouth hanging open at the imagery this book conveyed, especially with Hatch's dead brother. Although the ending was not the most original ever for a story of this genre, I nevertheless felt very satisfied by the technological details and the storyline development. Amazingly, I read the last 200 pages in one sitting. That does not happen often:)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: OUTSTANDING Review: Riptide follows none in the degree of suspense and creativity that flows from the minds of authors Preston and Child. There is hardly a dull moment throughout this tale of treasure hunting in the modern day. And as always, the authors use their superb knowledge of cutting edge technology to make this intriguing in both the historical and technological aspects. Another OUTSTANDING read from the homies that brought us Mount Dragon, The Relic and Reliquary.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good read, really couldn't put it down. Review: I bought this book on Saturday afternoon and finished it Monday night. Excellent treasure hunt story. Reminded me a lot of Wilbur Smith's Seventh Scroll but not quite as good.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Riptide is a great thriller that matches Crichton's best Review: Preston and Child do it again! As a fan of this duo since THE RELIC, I eagerly snatched up this book while looking for a July 4th read. I've loved the tale of Oak Island and the bookjacket synopsis read like a dream. I hoped I wouldn't be disappointed. Luckily, I wasn't and any fan of Michael Crichton or Clive Cussler won't be either. While the tale is stocked with the characters you'd expect, from a crusty treasure hunter to a lusty French diving archaeologist, the plot grabs you just as easily as the title suggests. I finished the book, cover to cover, in a little over six hours. I hesitate the five star rating simply because five stars is perfect and this book isn't perfect. The ending is a bit over the top with action that strains your suspension of disbelief to its limits. However, if you take it with a grain of salt, you'll find the time spent with this book seems too short.
