Summary: Clever Soapbox
Review: Randy Alcorn maintains his position (at least in *my* opinion) as America's #1 author of Christian fiction. Alcorn can write! You won't have to sacrifice technique or craft for content when you settle in with one of his books.

Ishbane Conspiracy is fun even for those of us who've long since left high school. It's evident someone closer to that age group (his daughters) helped write this book, because the dialogue and terminology is so current and authentic. And the way the story focuses on 4 characters and their relationships with each other draws the reader in and holds their attention, too.

How did he come up with those demon names? The part where one demon remarks that someone "now has the ghost", as in Holy Ghost, cracked me up. Even though it is crystal clear that Alcorn has used this as his soapbox, it's interesting to see how he does it using this technique. While I doubt that demons have such dialogues with each other (but how would I really know?), I got a kick out of seeing Satan's plan for destruction told from the viewpoint of his minions.

You can polish this book off in a weekend. I am so proud of Randy's Alcorn's skill as a writer. It's unfortunate that more so-called Christian writers are not as talented as he. Go, Randy!

Summary: Great for Teens and Parents Alike!
Review: Teens will find this one hard to put down. Many issues are woven into a well-crafted storyline, but it doesn't come across as "preachy": sexual temptation, spiritual battles, peer pressure, alcoholism, the occult - real topics for teens. They not only see the human aspect, but also the added dimension of spiritual forces at work for and against them. This is a great book for parents to preview, then pass on to their kids!

Summary: The Info On The Ishbane Conspiracy
Review: The book The Ishbane Conspiracy, by Angela, Karina, & Randy Alcorn, would be classified as a Young Adult book.
The Ishbane Conspiracy is a book that deals with real life issues. It is about four teens and the difficulties that workers of the devil throw at them, trying to lure them away from God. Throughout the book Foulgrin, a worker for the devil down in Hell, is trying to lure these teens into wrong choices, and away from God. He and Ishbane, another worker, write letters back and forth to each other sharing what they are trying to accomplish, but even they know that God is the right person to follow.
This book is very different than any book I've ever read. I have never read a book so real to me. It takes you through common problems among teens from their point of view.
I really enjoyed this book. It was probably one of the best books I have ever read. I felt like I was part of the story. I really liked how it talked about things that I could relate to, and other teens too. I liked how it talked about the problems teens are having. It was also very spiritual and helped me grow in my faith. I really liked Rob's personality. He was a very religious person. "'Let's pray for them.' Rob stopped suddenly, right outside the bookstore, by a rack of sale books. He lowered his head. 'Lord , please do a great work in Ian and Brittany.'" This quote was on page 199. It showed the way Rob thought. But, really there is a mystery about Rob, something very unexpected. I also liked Jillian's character a lot.
I just really loved everything about the book. It was very nice to know that there are other teens that have the same problems as me. It was also really nice to have some insight on what the workers of the Devil were doing, and how they always tried to make the characters fall back. Yet, this book might not be for everybody. It was very awesome, but it might be a little deep for some people. Some of the letters from Ishbane were a little hard to understand at times, and were very deep. But, everything else was great. I would really recommend this book to anyone from teens to adults.

Summary: Very deep and thought provoking
Review: The minions residing in hell target four young adults to turn away from Christ and unknowingly embrace his enemy.

Jillian left her father and now feels empty and alone. The opinions of other begin to weaken her faith until Rob enters her life. He was once the biggest sinner of all as part of a gang that did terrible things against society and Christ. Rob helps Jillian learn what it means to be a Christian.

Rob's friend Ian has doubts about what to believe in as he tries different New Age philosophies and other religions that do not preach the teachings of Christ. Ian turns his back on the woman he impregnated until a terrible tragedy opens his eyes.

Readers of Christian inspirational fiction will want to read the ISHBANE CONSPIRACY. At the end of each chapter, the minions assigned to destroy the human quartet discuss what happened, how they can improve their processes, and what weaknesses to exploit. The Alcorn trio delivers quite a message to the faithful.

Summary: The Ishbane Conspiracy
Review: This book is absolutely unbelievable. I am not that big of a reader, but once I read the first page of this book I was hooked. With me being in college, it was a book I could really relate to. Though I am in college and the characters are in thier highschool and college years, the book is for any individual that is looking to further thier spiritual standards and living. This book was in short an inspiration.

The four characters, Rob, Ian, Brittany, and Jillian, go through so many different experiences in the year that the book covers that it is bound to touch on a subject that you are or have been or will eventually go through. It touches everything from losing a loved one to falling in love to finding out you are pregnant, to drugs, to salvation, to....you name it!

The book is basically about the teenagers dealing with different life issues, but what is so heart wrenching are the letters at the end of each chapter. The devil's demons write letters back and forth to each other at the end of each chapter. In these letters, the demons are discussing thier strategies for bringing the teens to further destruction while keeping them further away from the "Enemey" which is God to the demons. These letters really put todays world into perspective. They make you realize how high on the devils hit list you are if you are a child of the King. Many times we forget that the Devil is constantly going to be pulling us down. The letters allow the reader to discover how much joy the devil gets out of winning you over even if it is just you passing up the chance to tell someone about God's love and grace or plan of salvation.

From this book I learned that i have to be careful about every step I take. IF you have a troubled teen, or you are facing a hard time, or you have questions about the bible, or you just want a good book to read, I recommend this book without a doubt. This truely is one of the best books that i have read.

Summary: Extremely good book
Review: This book was one of the best books I have ever read. The author so very well descripted the way the devil and his creatures do everything in their power to try and turn us from the Lord. They used todays real troubles and showed us the way out of them. I learned of some different things in my every day life that is steering me from the Lord, that I never knew before this book. I suggest this book to everyone, it books speaks to the reader in whatever way the reader needs to compare it to their life.

Summary: When the Dark Comes Rising.
Review: This book was recommended to me at a camp I worked at by one of the best camp speakers I have ever heard. He suggested that anyone who had an interest working with youth, should read it. Since I have a heart for youth and will be teaching junior high and high school students in the next few years, I figured I would check it out. I'm glad that I did.

The ISHBANE CONSPIRACY looks at the life of teenage and young adults in a very real and powerful way. It illustrates how the struggles and problems we face in our life pan out on the Hades side of the spiritual world. The book is written with every chapter followed by a letter of demonic correspondence.

The book reminded me of a cross between C.S. Lewis' THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS and a Frank Peretti novel. True, there are scenes involving drugs, alcohol, allusions to sex, suicidal thoughts, eating diorders, the occult, large family arguments, and a host of other problems and sins. However, these are issues that people in America (not just teenagers) face on a daily basis. Our fight isn't against the powers of this world, but against evil forces of the unseen spiritual realm. It's great to read a newer book that so forcibly reminds us of that.

Summary: Good Book
Review: This is a good book well worth reading.

It's not as good as "Foulgrin" but it is a nice follow-up.

There are some references in it to sexual subjects,(not at all explicit) because this is such an important part of our lives and the world around us. These references are why I would caution you to read the book yourselves before deciding if it is right for your children.

All in all a great book though and one that can be useful in your Christian life.
