Rating: Summary: How I felt About This Book Review: I read this book because my Mom got it for me, at first I didn't wan't to read it, but after I got started in the story I got hooked. This book is about four people who are having spiritual battles and are being bothered by the devil's demons. This Book I believe is appropriate for people of all ages and I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with their religion.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. It gave a "behind the scenes" insight to what satan is trying to do in our lives to trip us up. There are so many things that happen to us daily and some of them we dont even realize Satan is using agaist us. This book just gives us a peek at what is really going on and motivates us as Christains to try and stay away from those things and encourage eachother to do the same.

Rating: Summary: Should be required reading for all Teens and parents Review: I wish I could afford to give a copy of this book to every teen and every parent I know. This book will make you think about things you never thought about before. I found myself often putting it down and saying "Wow!" There are so many things that really made me think about my life and how I parent. It's amazing how a well written novel can get to you. This is now one of my all time Favorite books ever written, and I give it away as a gift often. I love all of Randy Alcorns novels, but if you can only get one, this is the one.
Rating: Summary: Fundamentalist Propaganda Disguised as Fiction Review: I've waited for quite some time to write this review, so as not to let my emotions get in the way. However, it will be difficult. To begin with, I have to say I am stunned that so many people gave this book such a high rating; as far as Christian fiction is concerned, this is nowhere near 4 1/2 star material.
I purchased "The Ishbane Conspiracy" several years ago from a discount bookstore near my home. Although I was unfamiliar with the work of Randy Alcorn, the description on the book jacket said that this was a fictional novel which dealt with high school kids embroiled in spiritual warfare. "Okay, I thought, so I'll bite." Well, about a week later I went back to the store and returned the book. (To put this in perspective, I have purchased many books in my lifetime and have only ever returned 3--and that was because they were duplicate copies of something I already owned.) Shortly after I began reading the story, I began to realize that it was definitely *not* the book for me. Much of the spiritual warfare the characters deal with involves their struggle against the anti-Christian values in modern society; this in itself is not a bad thing, but whenever you choose to focus on specific examples in pop culture to make your point, there's a good chance you will end up alienating your reader. In this case, I was more than alienated--I was angry and disgusted. Why? Well, look at some of the "truths" that I learned from this book:
-Anything that deals with witchcraft should be avoided at all costs; the Harry Potter books indoctrinate children to the occult at an early age so they will become practicioners later in life, and watching "Buffy," "Charmed," or the movie "The Craft" is absolutely forbidden. (Ironic that all these feature strong female characters in starring roles, isn't it?)
-Many popular movies are actually propaganda of the Enemy in disguise. "Pleasantville" is pure garbage, which portrays teens who do not have premarital sex as "dullards" and contains a black magic scene(?). "The Exorcist" helped to fuel interest in the demonic, decrease interest in God, and was literally based on an actual case of possession. (Hardly--do your research, people!) Horrors movies in general should be avoided completely by Christians.
-Anything connected with secular Halloween is off-limits. Not only does the holiday have occultic roots, but it both obsesses over and makes light of death; the Word of God does neither. (Guess he forgot about the book of Ecclesiastes, huh?)
-One cannot be Goth and a Christian. (For the record, I've met a number of Christian Goths who are more knowledgable and spiritually mature than most fundamentalists.)
-First-person shooter video games are only one step above killing an actual human being.
-Christians who do not believe that the story of the Fall of Man happened literally (literal Adam and Eve, literal tree, literal serpent) are having their thinking influenced by Satan.
If I didn't know any better, I would say Christ came to aborb the personalities of his followers! Were I a nonbeliever reading this book, there is absolutely nothing that would make me want to become a follower of Christ. Sure, there's the stereotypical scene of a deceased believer being welcomed into the arms of Christ in Heaven, but there is nothing that would alleviate any doubts or fears I might have about some of the negative qualities of the Christian belief system.
After all this, you may wonder why I gave the book 2 stars. Well, aside from my many dislikes about this book, I must admit that the concept is intriguing; the style of writing easily captivates the readers' attention, particularly the conversations between the demons. The bottom line? If you're a conservative Christian or you share Alcorn's opionions on secular cultur, you will probably enjoy "The Ishbane Conspiracy." Otherwise, I would advise you to stay far, far away.
Rating: Summary: smut disguised as christian reading for young adults Review: If you care about your children you will not let them read this book-it is full of sexual references and references to drugs and alcohol.Amazon requires at least one star for rating- I would consider this book to be a NEGATIVE 5 Stars You have to ask your self WHAT EVIL influence the authors were under when they wrote this book-
Rating: Summary: A VERY good book! Review: It thought this book was very good! I am 14 and I think it is really great for teens to read! It dealt with almost every issue that teens could go through! I love Randy Alcorn's books, and his is definetly my favorite! I would recommend it to Christians, non-Christians, and even adults!
Rating: Summary: The sequal to Lord Foulgrin's Letters Review: Like most of the books that Randy Alcorn writes, this was an excellent read. It made me really think about spiritual warfare, and how there really is someone out there who wants to destroy me. This book continues the story that began in Lord Foulgrin's Letters. It has now been about a year since Jordan Fletcher died in a car accident, and his hurting wife has been left without a husband, and his three children have been left without a father. The Ishbane Conspiracy begins on January 1st. The main characters are Jordan Fletcher's daughter Jillian, Jillian's friend, Brittany, a guy named Ian, a guy named Rob, and the demons Foulgrin and Ishbane. This is the story of Jillian, Rob, Brittany, and Ian's spiritual struggle to find what they are missing in their lives. As Jillian and Rob hold onto God and to eachother to try to stay true to their beliefs, you will be captivated. This is an AWSOME book! Try reading it...it could save your life.

Rating: Summary: Alcorn Does It Again!!!! Review: Once again, Randy Alcorn amazes his readers (or listeners) with first class Christian fiction. A sequel to Lord Foulgrin's Letters, The Ishbane Conspiracy is a top notch, edge of your seat, ride "behind the scenes" at what Satan's henchmen do in the lives of God's image bearers. A must for those who enjoy the Left behind series, this is the same quality writing by Alcorn. And, yes Frank Muller fan's, he is the reader in his unmatched style!
