Rating: Summary: A surprise around every corner Review: The sword of the Enchanted Forest has been stolen by tricky wizards trying to capture the castle from Mendebar and Cimerone, the king and queen of the forest. The only hope of saving the forest is by sending Cimerone and her friends to find the wizards and the sword. The group that was sent to save the sword is not a likely bunch of heros, but they would have to do. Along with the queen, was her good friend Morwen the witch and two of her seven talking cats, a wizard named Telemain whose theories are much more confusing then they have to be and and 6 foot blue flying donkey-rabbit named Killer! This book is filled with non-stop surprises! With this plot and these characters I found this book very interesting and fun to read.
Rating: Summary: a Killer fantasy Review: The third book of the four Enchanted Forest Chronicles continues the clever stories of Cimorene, Mendanbar, and company. Each volume is sucessive, so reading them in order is a good idea. Morwen, the practical witch who brought all the characters together one way or another, is a major player this time (along with her equally sensible cats). This one takes place after the events involving a magic sword that controls King Mendanbar's Enchanted Forest. The sword has been stolen and the rescue team consists of Cimorene, Morwen, her cats, Telemain, Kazul, and Killer the rabbit-donkey.The ladies are great role models of intelligence, reason, and strength. All of which they need when they encounter fire witches, hungry vines, and a whole lot of mud. Telemain and Killer provide the comic relief. Again, Patricia Wrede is in fine form with her trademark sly humor and fairy tale jokes. The detail and plot are complete *and* completely fun. Many fantasy books get bogged down in their own importance. Wrede never takes it that seriously, all the while maintaining a high degree of authorial responsibility. This is particularly important in this book because it ends on a cliff hanger that gets resolved in the final book. Again, Wrede does not disappoint. Her books, which I first read in junior high, have been the perfect comfort reading to cheer me up and take me away to a world every bit as convincing as other great fantasies like Narnia, the Dark is Rising books, and Jane Yolen.
Rating: Summary: Magic is in the Air..... Review: The third installment in the Enchanted Forest Chronicles was no disappointment. The book starts out with Morwen living with her not one but nine cats. However when Morwen learns that the magic in the enchanted forest is disappearing and King Mendenbar's sword has been stolen she is determined to get it back. With much protesting from Mendenbar they finally decide who goes. Morwen is accompanied by the pregnant Queen Cimorene, the magician Telemain who is most liked when he doesn't open his mouth, Morwen's two cats, Kazul the King of Dragons, and Killer a rabbit who mysteriously turned in a donkey and don't get me wrong but there will be more transformations. As if their quest isn't hard enough they encounter a fire witch, mud, vines that want to eat them, and the all too familiar wizards society.(Need more lemon juice?) Can they get the sword back in time to save the Enchanted Forest and Mendenbar? A cliffhanger ending that you just can't miss!! These Chronicles are probably the best fantasy books I have ever read! I hope you enjoy them too!! Can't wait to read number 4. Too bad it is the last one!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good book--why the irrelevant title? Review: There are some very funny moments and this is overall a good book. It would be great for kids ages 9 to 16, or 6 and up if their parents read it to them. It seems like it would be a great read-aloud book for an introduction to fantasy. I still like the first one best, by far. The first two titles of the series made sense, but the title "Calling on Dragons" doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the story at all. The dragons by now are very minor characters.
Rating: Summary: perfect Review: These books are my all time favorites. I love books with talking animals(Brian Jacques redwall books included) and mythical beasts such as Kazul, the female Dragon king. This book wasn't my favorite out of all of the others, the first one clams that honor. Especially Morwen's cats. Fiddlesticks and Miss Eliza Scorn were my favorites but, all the nine cats have wonderful chemistry. I would recomend the Enchanted Eorest Chronicles books to any one. i have read theses books 5 times since i got them.
Rating: Summary: Great series! Review: This book is great, probably one of my favorites. I love all of Morwen's cats and Killer(the Blue, flying, oversized, donkey-rabbit). It leaves you in a VERY suspenceful part and you can't WAIT to get the next one!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This book is my favorite book in the Enchanted Forest Chronicles although you should not read it if you have not read the others first. When I read most books I skip the chapter titles but in this book they are half the fun (i.e. in which it is very muddy)and the end keeps you wanting more
Rating: Summary: a review Review: This book is the most excellent of all the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. Patricia C. Wrede shows humor and upside-down fairy tales in this laughable book. The quality is incredible. READ IT!: ).
Rating: Summary: A Great Adventure Review: This book was a great story from beginning to end, following the marriage of Cimorene and Mendanbar, it is shown from Morwen the witch's point of view and tells of new troubles going on in the Enchanted Forest. There is a war brewing and with an ending that will leave you begging for more. Once you finish this book you will absolutely have to continue to the fourth book from the Enchanted Forest Chronicles.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book Review: This book was incredible. I couldn't put it down. It is a great children's book because it's about dragons, princes, wizards, and witches. If you liked Harry Potter, you will love this. I give it 2 thumbs up.
