Summary: Fascinating
Review: This book draws the reader in immediately. Not only the characters, but the TIME comes alive. It's an effort to return to our time when you have to stop reading and put the book aside. Once the book was over, I wanted it to be twice as long. While the excellence of the writing also conveyed the violence, it was not overdone, and was necessary to convey the whole flavor of the times. I searched diligently and asked everyone I knew about "Hyksos".

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent read!
Review: A detailed, tightly constructed plot that provides a look at life in a sophiticated society more than 4000 years ago. Wilbur Smith develops characters that are believable and is faithful to Eygpt's history. A thouroughly enjoyable book.

Summary: Magical....
Review: Reading "River God" has changed my whole outlook on the romance of reading. The characters in this book come to life, and are very realistic. You find yourself in love with Taita and share his hardships and glories. Smith has bought the past to life with this story of life and death under the Pharaoh Mamose. I recomend this book to anyone who has ever dared to dream.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The most fantastic story of all time.
Review: Wilbur Smith has awakened a love for African history within me with River God. He creates such a vivid view of the environment that Taita, Lostris and Tanus lived in that I think about the ancient land of 'This Very Egypt' regularly. This is my favourite book. It is a book for everyone, you can't help but love it.

Review: From beginning to end this book kept me intrigued. The characters were great, the story compelling, and the history... More than once I went digging through my history books looking up Egyptian facts. I didn't want the story to end.

Summary: A must read!!!
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. It has everything. I'll always remember Taita, Lostris and Tanus. If you think you'll get bored because it's so long you are WRONG. If it is true I don't know and don't care. IT'S GREAT!!!!

Summary: Smith tells a great story
Review: Smith was genious to bring to life the everyday struggle of ancient egypt. I am not sure if he was trying to parallel any actual people, but his vivid descriptions of the gods and lifestyle of the time was wonderful. This book is very entertaining, hard to put down.
