Summary: Excellent Literary Adventure
Review: This is an epic of a rollercoaster, packed with sizzling gypsie

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Definitely worth reading if you love ancient Egypt!
Review: If you're as obsessed with ancient Egypt as I am, then this book is definitely worth reading. The detail of everyday life and how much their gods were a part of it is fascinating. However, the main character, Taita, is extremely pompous. Sometimes it almost gets overwhelming, but if you can overlook that, then you will love this book. You just can't stop reading it because you must find out what is going to happen. I don' want to give away the ending, but it is almost anticlimactic. Not the happiest of endings. Overall, I think this is an excellent book and you will learn a thing or two about ancient Egypt as well.

Summary: A fantastic book!!
Review: Nice blend of history & character development, a truly pleasurable read!

Summary: Well Done Wilbur!!
Review: I believe Mr Smith must have been around in the time of this book. His way of describing events, people and places is truly amazing and I wish I had been born in those times (as a queen of course). One comes to love Taita and his friends, even with their human flaws. I am a fan of Mr smith's, but this is his best book so far!!

Summary: The story of what happened before "The Seventh Scroll"
Review: I read Wilbur's "Seventh Scroll" before this book. River God tells the story of the slave Taita as he grew up in ancient Egypt amongst the pharohs. I enjoyed it immensely. As descriptive and beautiful as the "Seventh Scroll"

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: storming!!!
Review: W.Smith does it again. Stonkin' good read with an ending that makes you rush out to get "Seventh Scroll" to see what Taita has in store next. If Steven King hadn't done it in "misery" I would've said I was W.S. 'number one fan!', but I'm not quite that psycho. (well not quite yet anyway!!) Please can we have more like this? Jo from Malmesbury

Summary: I've read thousands of books & this gets 5 stars.
Review: I lean toward nonfiction books, usually. Yet, a friend recommended "River God" and "Seventh Scroll" to me...and I loved them. They both had their hair-raising moments of suspense and danger; plus, they included a little romance (but not enough to disgust unromantics like me) and awesomely intriguing history tidbits. Definitely one of those "must reads."
